    Cool robot design, have you thought about trying to place the note in the trap?

      We thought about it but after making a super sketch with what we had on hand we could not think of a way to get to the trap.

    Damn yall getting loads of hate, but for a first year Ri3D team this really isn’t bad, slap a shooter on there and get some good auto and drivers and yall could be comfortably in the 2nd alliance pick range.

      Thank you, if u look at our other videos u can see the ground intake and shooter are already on this robot. I also highly recommend you to watch our robot reveal video and robot demos to see the full robot in action.

    All that for that? It doesn't even move forward or backwards?

      it has 6 wheels, it looks like theyre just testing the climb rn

      It can drive but we did not want to drive it for the climb test because one of the controllers had very bad stick drift and the deadband was not coded yet. The drivetrain would just always slowly drive to the left, so just unplugged the control for safety.

      This is from Ri3D or (Robot in 3 days) at Purdue is a challenge that some groups of mostly colleges and/or mentors build the First FRC challenge in 3 days. This challenge is for high school students to compete but they have 1.5 months to prototype, design, and assemble the robot. This year the challenge is called Crescendo where the team has to score the foam orange rings into a goal that is over 6 feet in the air and at the end of the game they can earn more points by climbing the chain. You can learn more by looking up "frc crescendo" and watching the game video. This is in your feed because you got blessed by the almighty algorithm.

    And the point of this contraption is?? Some context would be nice. Seems absolutely pointless.

      it's a robot built in 72 hours for the 2024 first robotics competition, whose game rules came out about 3 days ago, they slapped this stuff together in that amount of time. Usually teams have 1.5 months to build something like this, they did it in 3 days

    I'm not gonna lie.... Expected a bit more from Purdue.... UNLESS! THIS IS ACTUALLY the Purdue Chicken farm&the slaughterhouse is building robots on lunch break?

      Thank you for the feedback, we as a first-year and student-run organization built this robot in less than 3 days and in that time we had to prototype, design, and build the robot with the parts we had on hand. We also had to make a lot of the steel and aluminum parts with hand tools due to a lack of good power tools like a drill press that is less accurate than a hand drill and only had 2 drills that do not like to drill. We are trying to get more funding for next year to be able to buy more quality tools.

    The same thing could easily be done with two pneumatic cylinders and a small air compressor.
    What a waste

    • @AnonymousGamer-rr4xm
      @AnonymousGamer-rr4xm 9 місяців тому +1

      bruh pneumatics would require a whole entire pneumatic system with a compressor and air tank for storage because teams need to climb in the last 15 seconds of the match

    • @northernfabricationllc2281
      @northernfabricationllc2281 9 місяців тому

      Negative. You apparently dont know much about them.
      All you need is a small compressor, two cylinders and lines connecting to a control. A tank isn't neccessary for what would be needed to to do what their doing.
      People like these kids are always over complicating things with a lot of neccessary stuff. You honestly think this debacle they constructed is simpler than a pneumatic system?? Wow...

      @@northernfabricationllc2281 I admit I haven't worked with them, but you apparently don't know much about the meta
      This is two telescoping arms on a winch, it's fairly simple and standard in FRC, you see it everywhere. What you see here I've seen a hundred times, but I've never seen a pneumatic climb. I wonder why.
      Besides, the arms weren't painstakingly designed by them, it's a ready-made kit that anyone can get online. Is the actual thing more complicated than pneumatics? Yeah, but the complications of designing it wasn't on their shoulders. It would be much easier to obtain a pre-machined kit that has been tried and true for this exact purpose rather than designing a pneumatic system themselves

      @@northernfabricationllc2281You clearly have no idea what you’re talking about. This is a robot for the FIRST robotics competition. If you knew anything about FRC you would know that pneumatics are more trouble than they’re worth, especially when the same thing can be accomplished with motors and telescoping arms like shown here. Pneumatics are WAY more complicated to set up and work with, especially with FRC’s requirements for pneumatic systems.
