This might actually be medium carbon. If you look at the angle grinding part the sparks explode like flowers, this means it has carbon in it. Its not high but enough to raise the hrc a little?
I agree that case hardning it might make it usable for softer metals like aluminium, brass and the like, but that is as far as I would expect it to go.
What a total waste of time! The mild steel that this re bar is made from would not even cut plastic, quite apart from the damage holding such an out of round workpiece in the chuck has done.
While this cutting tool looks good, its total junk. Steel rebar is made of mild steel, and while case hardening it MIGHT increase the carbon content enough for it to cut soft metals like aluminium and brass, it will never be as good as carbide, tool steel or high speed steel.
Absolutely! What a joke ... all the acetylene gas burned off to heat the worst quality kind of steel (re-bar) & make this useless End Mill ???? All it's good for is is machining a potato to a cube shape!
@@meddlehedd1194 If you can find ReBar on the Rockwell chart it will be down there barely above butter! There'a absolutely no need to preheat to machine. Hardening by heat and water or oil dunk is useless too!

I was wondering about carbon content so I looked it up.
There are three main grades of rebar, 40, 60 and 75.
40 is low carbon, (
Nice workmanship.
Wrong material.
Nice work sir 👍
Rebar is always made from scrap iron. Junk metal at best.
maybe case harden also?
I'd like to see it cut, since it was "mild" steel...at least would work on aluminum or softer
There just ain't enough carbon in it.
@@cdrive5757 Thats what case hardening is for; it infuses the outer layer with carbon

@@GaisaSanktejo Please show us in the video where he did that.
@@cdrive5757 I never claimed he did. This particular tool is junk

Nice tool great work bro👍
it might cut wood
What gearing & lathe can cut this type of helix???
any lathe can, just check your banjo for a higher gear ratio
Solo podría cortar metales no ferrosos como aluminio cobre y bronce porque ese acero no es tan bueno es bajo en carbono

Put it inside refrigerator
This is total bullshit! Not even worth explaining why!
Wakodahatchee Chris
why? Because he didn't show it cut or because you don't think it can cut?

@@cdrive5757 even the high strength alloy rebar?
@@meddlehedd1194 Not enough carbon in it to be used as Tool Steel.
Steel strength and steel hardness are not synonymous.
@@cdrive5757 Yeah I briefly searched the web for C content and hardness of high strength rebar but couldn't find anything, Hence my question above.
