Day 12 of EPIC | Shoulder Workout with Dumbbells

- Day 12 in the EPIC Program and it’s shoulders! We will be using dumbbells to target our deltoids with single and double arm work, pressing, holding and control throughout for this shoulder workout with dumbbells.
You will need a pair of dumbbells and a wall if you are performing the handstand hold at end however this is optional. I am using 2 x pairs of dumbbells (10kg x 2 and 6kg x 2) to show you which movements typically involve the heavier and lighter weights however this can be competed with one pair of dumbbells!
The timer will be on for 30 seconds per exercise, however if the exercise is single arm, we will simply go straight onto opposite arm with no rest.

Please ensure you warm up for at least 5 minutes prior to beginning.
Remember, control throughout! There is a lot of work performed in the lowering part of each move when controlled so ensure you try to control to gain the most out of this workout!
Ensure your keep good posture throughout and always keep gaze straight ahead, shoulder blades together, core tight, knees slightly bent. When performing lateral/frontal raises etc keep slight bend at elbows.
This is a solid deltoid session so enjoy!! 💪

I remember when did this workout the first time I had a lot of trouble getting into the handstand holds. This time around I got into position with ease and held the pose for 30 seconds each time. I decided to take a chance and trust my strength- I got into position by walking up the wall and held for time:) yay, feeling proud!

I can't understand why there are dislikes, everything is so good, and the movements chosen are very safe ones... it might be too difficult for beginners, but this channel is not the only workout channel on the platform. Why have to put dislike 😕😕😕
Hi Fiona...yes the community have had a few discussions of this and I just don’t get it either. As you say everything Caroline does is so good and so professional. There is simply nothing to dislike. @@matthewalmond4688 thank you Matthew. Yes there are tens of thousands of workout channels, and it is possible but not always easy to find the perfect match for each individual. I myself workout regularly with small weights, and before confinement, i never workout at home( except for yoga). But now life has changed a lot, and i am so happy to have found Caroline. It feels like training with an athletic friend, sufficient and at the same time challenging. I also tried a few millions of views abs/booty workout channels, but sadly certain dangerous movements got me slightly injured.
I love Caroline and the workouts. I also am 66 but I use as much weight as I can. Of course I can’t lift what her does but I lift what I can. I am not giving up. I see changes in my body already.

When I was preparing the handstand hold in the wall, my cat entered the room staring at me with a "wtf" look. Then, when I spoke aloud "how do I come back to the floor?", he walked away as he was thinking "not my problem".
I was never able to hold a handstand like this. It was fun, I'm felling stronger!

well i couldn't go into a hand stand, i had to walk my feet up and then hold
@@sophieeel4478 Same, and I only got there once, I am overweight though (hopefully not for much longer) and I had pushed through the rest with 5kg dumbbells, also the lighter part, which was tough for me. When I tried to hold it the second time, after around 15 seconds my head was like "Abort! Abort!"
But it was fun😃 Even though my arms feel like lead now that the adrenaline is gone.

@@bethanybauk Normal practice has been cut short due to covid implications and our varsity girls have been complaining. The morning slot was the only other time available. We have had more girls show up then the coach expected. It's been a great turnout so far.

Probably one of the best crafted shoulder workouts I have done. Love the combination of three heavy sets followed by the lighter no rest sets. Great to see the around the worlds, I think these are great 👍 and never really used, so great to see them incorporated Caroline.I used 12.5 and 7.5 kg DBs. Caroline thanks so much for the tip on walking up the wall to get to the handstand that worked a treat as did the remember to breathe tip as you are inclined to hold the breath a little. Really happy to have manage those as the last time you included them I had to do the alternative and that deflated me a little. I'm so happy after that amazing workout 💪 so good I'm going to do a delt update on instagram.😜 Thanks Caroline for another superb 40 mins, its clearly not only the team who are benefiting from EPIC, your definition is insane and I think thats why people love your workouts because your living it with us and we can all see the results. Well, what can I say! Yes, you have done it again. Caroline, I have struggled with a shoulder injury for which I got so much PT and with hard work, I had some improvement. But nothing like what I am getting from your workouts. You seem to get that wonderful blend of function, range of motion, strength, flexibility, etc that lend to successful rehab. Thank you.

@@mariannecarstensen3008 - No I don't. I have had rotator cuff and bicep tendon surgery on my right shoulder 6 years ago and a 60% tear on left rotator cuff. Today I used a variety 10s, 8s, 5 and 3s on around the world. My heavy lifting days are over but with multiple sets I'm pleased to be doing these.

So my target is -10kg weight loss and muscle building and i had been struggling since I couldn’t find a proper workout program and when i found caroline last month it just changed my entire workout calendar...hiit,dumbbells workout,1 hour workouts i mean there is so much variety and I especially especially love the 1hour workouts they just make my day and now this “epic program” is amazing brilliant and super fun to do...i sweat like crazy but i love every min of it and i hope that I achieve my target soon ... so thank you caroline 💓 💓 😘 you are the best ..!!!

Fantastic shoulder workout! I've been working on healing a right shoulder injury for awhile now and haven't done much shoulder work but was able to complete all of this, with much lighter weights so no further injury. It felt great! Love these workouts Caroline! Well done!

Did this work out this morning..really loved it. Found the handstand the most difficult as it kept hurting my lower back and think my wrist were gonna give way. But thankfully I did 15 seconds and the rest with the alternative that Caroline showed going backwards which was good. That's another reason I love Caroline's workouts because she knows when to give alternatives. You're the best...looking forward to doing the next workout in the series tomorrow

Edit: I've just finished and it was really nice but hard. I will not do the handstands for a while I think (maybe at week 10 I try) because I still have about 15 kgs extra on me. My week points are definitely the side lifts.
You will get there. I am also 17kgs over weight but i did it. Just keep at it and you will get stronger. All the best.
I can’t do the handstand because all my walls are slanted in a loft conversion. I only have straight walls up to chest height. I don’t think I have done a handstand since 10 years old!

As a child I did handstands all the time with no idea how much strength and coordination it took! Now 40 years later I fall and bash my head on the wall 🤣. Modified and did the walk up the wall version. It was still a strangely scary feeling wondering if my shaking arms would hold me up or if I would collapse and fall again! This is quite an adventure I’m on here. 🏋️♀️ Thanks Caroline for such a creative program!
And I always thought it would be my kids I would yell at for somehow getting shoe prints on the wall!! 😂. Thank you for another great workout and pushing me to do things I never thought I could do.... shoulder hand stands?! Facing wall and walking up but still... EPIC!!!! 😊💞

Ma'am these 49 minutes if shoulder were killer!!! If i didn't have such a structured program i'd probably skip arms, but i know you gotta do the whole body so thank you!
