Loved 90 lb Wuss in the same way especially cuz of that first MxPx tour....everything was cool by association....same with Plankeye and Driver 8....WHY IS THERE NO LIVE FOOTAGE OF DRIVER 8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And And And....yeah i know buuuuuuuuut Damien Jurado - I heard him and Pedro for the first time on the mail order call waiting and bought em both. Halo Friendly....Talk about the IMPORTANCE yet UknOWN!!!! EPIC!!!!
Can I just say how well-made this is? The amount of old footage, photos, grainy stage videos all compiled perfectly to create this incredible documentary is a real treat. Thank you so much for this.
Just found this Doc through a friend. Seriously takes me back. I was friends with Dan from the Supertones. I hung out in the studio on Sunset when they were recording Supertones Strike Back. It was huge. God I miss those days.
Thank you SO MUCH for making this. T&N was such a huge part of my youth. Bands that changed my life and influenced it so deeply. That list of bands at the end contains so many of my favorites. Thank you.
I remember being at Cornerstone Festival in Illinois and having someone in the merch tent ask us if we'd work a table for free stuff. We said sure and spent the afternoon selling Magnified Plaid stuff till they got back. Those were the days.
Wow, brings back memories of my brother and me being there from the beginning with the Wish for Eden release. Goodness, we did almost buy every album that came out from the label in those early days. We were of the christian faith looking for bands that sounded like they could be at a normal show. Then, finally went to our first show of Tooth and Nail bands, (Zao and Strongarm). Eventually, we saw Stavesacre, Slick Shoes, Value Pac, Plankeye, and even Klank. Then, we saw this little band open up for Zao and Training for Utopia. We saw them a couple of times before. They were playing this Korn sounding stuff that we liked. This kid had these Doc Marten Wingtips on. Microphone all the way almost to the ground. We were in Alabama and they said they were from Atlanta, Georgia. That band rocked the house that night. Me and my brother said, they should be on Tooth and Nail. Lo and behold, that band's name was Luti-Kriss. Then, we saw then announced on Tooth and Nail a bit later. As most of you know, that band later on became Norma Jean. I'll never forget it.
They did a good job of covering lots of ground here. I’d have liked to hear more about the subsidiaries BEC Records, Plastiq Musiq and Solid State... perhaps those are different stories altogether.
All of the nostalgia and feels. These bands got me through some tough times in my youth. I wish that there was a label like this still. I know T&N still technically exists, but it's not the same.
Wow, just came across this documentary today. I discovered tooth and nail as a kiwi expat kid living in Hong Kong of all places, and would buy all their albums for years and years and years to come. Had honestly forgotten how important this part of my life was and how important all these bands and this label were until today. Thank you T&N
Christian music has lost it's creativity. It's so formulaic now. Christ has given us all this creativity, yet all we have on the radio is worship music that all says the same thing with no lyrics about internal struggle or changes in musical style.
This is so cool. I grew up on all of this music in the first decade of the 2000s. I miss it a lot because in hindsight it was a golden era of Christian music, and society wasn’t super into social media and technology as much as it is today. Today’s Christian bands are just meh
This was such a fun watch. I was in college when this was happening and followed most of these bands. We would go to warp tours and any show that we could find to watch these bands. Good times. Thanks guys for making this.
I saw P.O.D. 4 times before they got huge. Amazing performances. Also, I've seen Project 86 headline a show featuring a young Luti-kriss (Norma Jean). Also saw Blindside. Those guys were sick.
Thank God for Brandon and his grandfather 👌🏼idk if I woulda actually done what I did or am still doing in music if it wasn’t for TN. Inspiration is pivotal
I'm interested why they didn't include Focused, specifically Tim Mann. I'd be interested in hearing interviews from some of the bands that didn't get the push MxPX, SF59 or the Supertones did.
Tooth and Nail literally woke me up spiritually. I grew up in church and I HATED every minute of it. When I heard Wish For Eden something lit immediately. My friends at church went to great lengths to bring bands to our area (Fayetteville NC) I not only met but got to spend real time helping and talking with MXPX, Stavesacre, Strongarm, POD, EDL, zao,and 90 pound Wuss. A few others as well. I was always a lot bummed I never got to see Blenderhead live. I took my son to see Demon Hunter and August Burns Red. I STILL listen to T&N and solidstate to this day. I actually had a brief conversation with Brandon Ebel while I was trying to start a faith based hardcore show for late night radio.
Amazing and really didn't touch so many of my favorites. No Stavesacre, Stretch Arm Strong, Craig's Brother, The Dingees, Extol...surely I'm forgetting more.

Love this documentary, does anybody know of Christian hardcore punk bands that sounds like these bands on the documentary but that are. We bands!!?????
I just watched this doc on Pluto TV. What a great story! I remember the early 90s. I was quite a fan of Christian metal such as Bride, Tourniquet, Mortification, etc.
Same here! I had no idea this was on pluto. I may watch it a 2nd time on my tv. Tourniquet is and always was an amazing band. There are alot of good Christian metal bands out these days too. Many on Facedown records.
Just being honest, wity all the documented proof of how much of a bad deal he gave hands. U didn’t even bring up that Brandon kept putting out MxPx music beyond the 5 records on deal. Put out let it happen without even telling the band. Worst label for successfull bands around. The stain is there and no sob grandpa story will erase it
I don't think most *intelligent* people weren't aware that t&n was barely making it...some of those early records were .99 cent bin busters.... but that Brando Ebo wasn't about to pass up ANY buck, which comes to -.63 cents share for the artist...payable by check or money order...sorry no C.O.D.'s, even if Value Pac were the inspiration for Frito Bandito and pals in Idiocracy and can't play Spell your Name let alone instruments!!! That being said for every shiiiity 10 "bands" Brandon signed to exploit there would be ONE decent one.... Living Sac, mxpx, project when Alex, Randy and Steve were in the band, puller, ghoti hook--two years to never era, and most importantly (stavesacre) ... but most GOOD t&n bands use it as a springboard to bigger things....unless your band is called mxpx and Brando basically treated you like that old guy from Family Guy that's always in a bathrobe and wants to see Chris bend over all the time...A&M were shocked and so...mxpx's next 3 albums were joint releases through a&m and t&n and then Brandon released Let it Happen AGAINST the bands wishes...because phuuk you mixpix BRANDON owns the tunes soooo...yeah. (stavesacre) were actually mature artists in comparison to EVERYBODY else at the time and were one of the only other bands to see radio airplay besides mxpx and they'd also chart for the first few weeks or until B.E.C. pulled funds. t&n most certainly have an inflated sense of worth because B.E. is a megalomaniac and credits himself first because J.C. was merely an executive producer. mxp....WHO? check out the all new O.C. Supertones... BUY NOW. Today seems Brandon is down with whatever is hip and trendy....smart song writers like Mike Lewis, Mark Salomon, Mike Hererra, even DeeBahgSCHWAB from Pject...those guys weren't ever banging dope and dropping F-Bombs on their albums....but J.C. is down these days. Christian music or anything that profits or seeks to profit from praying on weakminded "fans" lest they face the wrath of a Supreme ash hole who would condemn their mortal souls to eternal hellfire and damnation..... *is wrong* And that includes God's not Deaf 2, The Vaggietales, Exodus for the Sega Genesis AND tooth&nail records. Jesus on heroin? But in actuality really good clean fun like your youth group at church
My first concert was POD, Project 86, Blindside and East West! One of the best concerts ever!!!
I remember being at Cornerstone Festival in Illinois and having someone in the merch tent ask us if we'd work a table for free stuff. We said sure and spent the afternoon selling Magnified Plaid stuff till they got back. Those were the days.
I was there in the 90's buying Tooth & Nail records. My favorite bands are Morella's Forest, Velour 100, Starflyer 59 and PlankEye.

Great story, great documentary. Hopefully some day they’ll go a little further, give some stories and love to the other artists not featured
When I was a kid I always dreamed of beeing part of a huge era definig movement. I now realize, because of T&N I was...

Greatest show I ever saw there were probably only 50 people there. P.O.D., Project 86, and Blindside.. before anyone knew who they were. It was sick.
Aaron Stigall same. Caught them at a small church in St Louis and it was an awesome show.
