Hey man, amazing explanation! This brings up a couple of questions though: 1 - Do you have to configure Aster everytime you boot the pc, or it will remain configured after a reboot / shut down? 2 - How do you calculate the resource usage of each component? I mean, two games running at once equals to double the work or even more than that? 3 - Beign that is has been two years since the release of this video, would you say that Aster has improved its capabilities and compatibilities for gaming?
All of the settings are saved and you could even make all the instances turn on automatically at boot, which is amazing. So technically you would only need to set it up once and everything will boot just fine. SOMETIMES if the system doesn't shut down correctly you'll have to manually boot all of the other instances, but overall if everything is done properly, it will all be automated. From a resource standpoint, i'm not too sure, i mean i tried allocating 8 cores to one users and 8 to the other but it just seems to not make a difference at all and all the cores will be used either way, no matter how you configure them. You could even just give a single core to one user but Task Manager shows that he can still use the other cores, i'm not sure if it's a bug or not, maybe it just happens to me. It's kind of a deal breaker because if one user exports (example) a video from a video editor, that workload will slow the rest of the machines down because it uses ALL cores, even if you specifically reserve cores for the user. Weird, but okay.. From a gaming standpoint, it is both AMAZING and TERRIBLE. AMAZING because in theory you could have 2 GPUs in one system, one per user, and allow them to game at max settings on triple A titles on the same machine (provided the CPU is powerful enough to handle that). TERRIBLE because many games won't allow you to have more than one single instance running on the machine, therefore games like League of Legends, Genshin Impact, Valorant etc will NOT run on more than a single instance. Again, deal breaker for me at least. If you want to go my route with a multigaming capable solution, i'd say DO NOT cheap out on the cpu. You can save money on the gpus as they will only run with one user (in my case at least), but the Cpu will have to split it's power throughout all the users, so you can't cheap out on that. My setup: Core I9 11900K 32Gb DDR4 3600Mhz RTX 3060 RTX 3060TI As i said, can't cheap out on the Cpu, as you will DEFINITELY notice when other people are having heavy workloads.

Hi! Thanks for the tutorial! I've got one problem which i hope you will know how to solve, I can't find that information anywhere.:( So, I no longer need ASTER, I've uninstalled it, and now when I turn on my pc, it offers me to login in the other version of my account. It wants me to enter name and a password, but after few seconds it disappears and says "Can't connect to the server, try later". I then have to press "esc" and login into normal version of my account where I only have to enter the pin code. It doesn't break anything, just a little annoying.
Curious about Aster multiseat safety ... Malwarebytes is flagging that it's requesting an outbound connection to 82.202.167.118 on ports 443 and 80 multiple times a day and it's malware/Trojan. What's to keep mutectl.exe from sending computer details to a Russian network (ibik.ru)?
Can both users use the same piece of software? For example, I run a bookkeeping business and we use a special software, I would like my colleague to use the software (and my colleague currently uses Team Viewer to log into my computer bc of Covid and unable to travel).
Aster supports this but some software doesn't want to have multiple instances running on the same pc. The only way to know is to test it your self or find someone else that tried the program your using on aster
Great video. I'm having a problem with controllers though. Has anybody had problems using a controller on seat 2? My controller is moved to "Place 2" under "Workplaces," but whenever I go to actually use the controller, it's using it on seat 1 for some reason. Sort of bizarre why this is happening and I'd love to find a fix.
Is it possible to use place 1 for vmix streaming and place 2 for in house projection to tvs for an audience ? Can the projector be assigned to only 1 one of the users ?
I need to launch multiple instances of same game. Let's say I have 4 steam accounts and need to launch the game 4x. Would this be a way to do it? And can I do that from only 1 monitor? I just need to log in the server... Not actually play
It should work fine with intergeated graphics but I haven’t tested this configuration. Since the performance of most intergrated is relatively low it’s probably not suited for multiple users doing graphics intensive tasks
@@ElectronicsWizardry ok thx.. is aster reliable? is there a chance of one account on one monitor getting access to another account on the other monitor?
Hey, I know it's a late reply so chances are you already know this, but Steam can run multiple times when you sandbox it, which can be done with software like Sandboxie. I played Divinity: OS2 in local multiplayer with a friend that way, on the same Steam account even (sandboxed Steam was in offline mode and we connected through the internal LAN). We did this because the game forces both players to use a controller in local multiplayer but we wanted mouse and keyboard. However, sandboxed Steam will have issues with stuff like anti-cheat. When I tested it, VAC wouldn't work, so you can't play games like TF2 on VAC-protected servers. Maybe there is a workaround for that but I'm not aware of any.
I tried using sandbox or thanks to a similar comment and made a updated video and it worked pretty well. I’m not sure if they fixed something or I got luckily but I was able to have 3 vac servers running at a given time in tf2 with aster and sandboxie.
Both of the users are running natively. Windows was made to allow for multiple users are once and both users a an run their own code. This is normally very limited on windows 10 and other home and workstation versions of windows, but aster let's you use multiple users at once.
@@ElectronicsWizardry If it would work with 2 separate but identical disks, then it would solve most of the problems, next would be two GPU with 2 identical game disks.

Best showcase of the software. You should benchmark the stuff with multiple titles and see the performance difference vs a single user or even a VM.
Excellent, finally some coherent information about this. Thank you, sir!

Some games doesn't allow sandboxing because of their anticheat systems
