Thanks for the tip, Great Video
Thanks I’m new to riding :)
Thanks this really seems to help the way my grandpa does it is confusing so thanks
Horse said, we already did this
love this video! wish I would have seen it years ago. I have been taught to have them lower their head by putting pressure on the nose instead of the pole. I'm a little torn as to which is the better method, but I sure do like the way you have them turn the head as well. I may switch to your method....
The fact I can do
Amazing
Hi Lucas, thanks for your feedback.
thank you, thank you, thank you , thank you
Hey C Dimond,
You are very welcome. I'm glad you liked it.
Hi Larry, i'm a your fan from Italy. I wanna ask you if you have got some videos about building neck muscles of a horse. Cause my cutting horse has a great body, but little bit less muscles in the neck. Can you give me some advises? Thankyou!!
Enrico
As always, nice video for the people new to horses or getting started again. Thanks for taking the time to explain everything succinctly and to the point. Hit it out of the ball park Larry! Thanks for making this available.. Pam
There's a training video on my website that shows how to fix horses that are bad to bridle, head shy or hate having their ears touched.
Hi Peaches,
I'm assuming you're referring to a mechanical hackamore (like the ones used by some barrel racers) and not a braided, rawhide bosal like we use on reined cow horses.
Place the mechanical hackamore in approximately the same position as the nose-piece of a halter and it should be fine.
However, better to place it too high rather than too low.
I would also recommend moving it a little higher or lower every other ride to prevent it from wearing on one spot all the time.

Gracias GrACias
I am also a big fan.I have watched all your vidoes.I am just looking for advice for my paint Indy.Thank you
Sir i am 5' tall. . . Unfortunately i can't do this :(
stand on a mounting block to do it.
Hi Larry,
Any tips for a youngster? My daughter is 8 years old and also struggling to get her horse to take the bit. I've already learned some tips from your current video, I've not noticed whether or not she gets into the corner of his mouth to get him to open up a bit, I'll certain check that.
I wonder about her height vs. your tip of comin w/ a tad bit of pressure between the ears. I know its critical to get your horse to relax and come to the bridle, she's a bit short to reach the ears.
I have a new mare, 4 yr old, who I have tried to bit/bridle a couple of times. She is decent about lowering her head and coming toward me, but it takes a while. She is naturally high headed and a bit flighty. However, here is my issue: she locks her jaw. I can sit for 30 min with her refusing to open her mouth, massaging her gums, tongue, and pressing the corners of her mouth. She will not open up. Period. So far, only offering her grain prompts an open mouth. Suggestions?
Hi CowGirl,
Use whatever technique works best for you and your horse.
There is no one right way.
Good results are the only thing that matters.
Good luck,
Larry T

@@d.williams6325 Thanks D.
that was a great video and really like it but why r u using such a harsh bit on a that quite horse you got I really don't see a good reason for all western people to use a bar and leverage bit it is silly to me could u please explain why this consistently with western bits
Hi Mimi,
If your horse genuinely hates having his ears touched, it's going to take more than just a "tip" to tell you how to get him over it.
Larry T
great video. but a have a problem with my horse. he shakes his head when i ride. i can´t identify the problem, probably in mouth. can you help me? thanks
hey! my horse does that to it could be how the bridle sits or the bit or it could be that something is to tight. to ride a horse you have to read their body launge. i hope that helps you
My horse shook his head incessantly because he hated the style of head stall. If perhaps yours wraps around the horses ears, maybe you want to look into one without the ear slots.
What bit and size was that bit?
It's a low port grazer bit with a 5 inch mouth.
hi Larry,
could you please do a bit of a simpler video for children and how to put on the bridal! Your video is very good but I cant really understand it for I am a young person!
Hi Enrico,
Sorry, no way that I know of.
Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. Much better to have a horse with a slim neck than a heavy one.

When I tried your technek.I am sorry to say but it did not work.My horse Indy was abused and I reasuced her.I have tried many things to ha e her put the bit in without clanking her teeth, but she does that a few times then I am able to put the bit in.Will u please show us another way with a abused horse if you have saved one.Thank you.I hope that u can help, because if I can not find a away I might have to sell, and I had her seance I was 8.I am almost 13,and I do not want to give up,but my Grandmother wanmts me to have a horse that I can tack up myself.Well a horse that I can place a bridle on easier. Please try to help me.Thank you again.
+Jacob Adams Hi Jacob. I understand what you're wanting. But you are 13 now and it's time to start thinking like a problem solver. You should ask yourself, "what is the difference in bridling an abused horse versus any other horse"? You also need to analyze "what" part of the process isn't working for you and "why". What's the horse's reaction and why is it reacting that way. If you plan on successfully training a horse, you need to begin by thinking like one.
I understand. It is not important to bridle a abused horse.I know that.It is just that I do not want to see he go.Besides I am the only one who can ride her,and knows her.My entire family can not get around her unless I am with them.I just do not want to let her go.Thanks for the advice.Besides she perfes to be ridden barback and with a nice soft foamed covered rope around d her neck. The vet said that she will only problem live till she is 16,yet she is 13 years old now.I will promise u one thing, which is that I will make sure that she will ah e the best 3 years estimated left is her life .Thanks for your help.
