We have been using this technique for our magnet Mcguffins. We prefer magnets over RFID anytime. A trapezoid/ trapezium shape has always worked best for us and easily recognisable as ' oh this goes here.' Can't wait to see what you make next.
Very cool!
Another cool use of technology in awesome builds!
When are you going to build a secret compartment in your room build!?!
Cool beans! I love Plinths and McMuffins!!
You've got plinth on my McGuffin. You've got McGuffin on my plinth!!
@@GratuitousSets LMAO!
👻
Great short video, we all need to know where our mcguffin's are ;) I also love using a hall effect sensor and using different strengths of magnets
So reliable!!
Good stuff guys.
Haven't seen any of your videos in a while - turns out youtube was just not recommending them, so I'm commenting in case that helps haha.
Thanks for the tips! I don't know that we can do anything to combat the weird UA-cam algorithm! I guess just "ring the bell" and hope for the best🤣
@@GratuitousSets my wife does social media marketing and she says upload a YT short every day and a long video at least once a week 😂. That's all there is to it hahaha
That could help!!!
Kiss is a way of life. cute boat.
Wayne!! Good to see you! Thanks😃
What type of sensors are you using? I've found you can have false triggers with magnets, especially using reed switches.
I know Gratuitous Sets have their own pcb for that, we however use hall effect sensors - they're cheap, no mechanical parts to worry about and in my experience generally have a larger range than reed switches. The only tiny (issue?) with them is that most (or at least the ones I use) only detect one pole of the magnet, so you have to be precise when placing your magnets.
Yup! Hall Effect sensors!! Our PCBs are switchable between poles and we have a dial to adjust range 🤓
@@GratuitousSets Awesome! A step up from magnets and copper strips.
lol- no doubt!!🤣
