  • What wines are perfect for summer? In this video, we’re tasting 5 white
wines from around the world that will fit our criteria for being great summer
    wines: light, crisp, and refreshing!
The Gai’a Estate was founded in 1994 by Leon Karatsolas and their
mission was to capture the best of Greece’s indigenous grapes. The
Thalassities is made from 100% Assyrtiko grown on the vulcanic island of
    Santorini.
Pazo de Senorans is made from 100% Albarino vines in the Pontevedra in
Galicia Spain. Pazo de Senorans debuts its first wines in 1989 and is now
    managed by the second generation.
Tyrrell’s makes multiple bottlings of Semillon from Hunter Valley in New
South Wales, Australia. Normally, we would associate Semillon with white
Bordeaux wines, but this wine is made about as far away from France as
    you can get.
Our American wine is a Pinot Gris from Ponzi Vineyards from Willamette
Valley, Oregon. Most Americans know Pinot Gris by the name Pinot Grigio,
which is the Italian name for the grape and an immensely popular wine.
The grape is grown in Italy, Alsace, Germany, and Oregon.
The Caciorgna farm is located in Siena, Tuscany, this Etna Bianco bottling
is made on the island of Sicily. The Etna Bianco is made of 90%
Carricante, which is really only grown in high altitude in volcanic soil around
    Mount Etna.
Watch the episode so see our impressions of these 5 white summer wines
    from around the globe.

Hard to go wrong with Muscadet for under $50 options - lots of high quality ones that will go great with oysters

I agree. Château de la Ragotière was on our inital list but we decided we needed a non-European wine so we added Tyrrell's. So good with oysters!

Really fun watching !!! Actually received 3 bottles of 2017 Tyrrell's Vat 1 Semillon yesterday ! They have 97+ Parker and also below $50. Did not open them yet. And, actually drank the Serrig last week on my 50th birthday in a restaurant !! Beautiful style .... But way to young ... You miss all the great complexity from a aged Riesling. Back in the cellar for 10 years !! Thanks for the video, but definitely looking forward to the next one !!

I want to get my hands on the Vat 1 - hear they're great. The 2020 Domane Serrig "Vogelsang" will be part of the video being released tomorrow. Amazing wine that can be aged 10-20-30 years.

Lighting, setting, editing. Nailed it. You have a great thing going! As I have said earlier, all of you are natural in front of the camera. Also, you have been able to keep the themes interesting. Kudos to you!

If you like Alvarinho you must try the Soalheiro Vinhas Velhas (old vines) from Portugal, it’s very very good. Then you have Loureiro (close to Alvarinho), Quinta Da Pedra is delicious, try to find 2007, its a superb wine even compare with 10 times price bottles. Then you have Pêra Manca, try to find older than 2021 and also try Principal from 2016, you can’t go wrong. Portugal have very good wines and a superb value for money.

Love how you respond (quite immediately even!) to community comments. If I may ask, would you be in favour to dedicate some episodes to either Super Tuscans, Super Seconds, grand cru classe’s that punch way above their ranking (e.g. Pontet Canet; more a second growth rather than a fifth) and/or second wines that may even ‘outperform’ some of the grand vins? Cheers from Amsterdam!

I’m laying down some Evening Land-Seven Springs at the moment. They’re in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA just north of Salem. The La Source Pinot noir is lovely, though being a 2019, still a long way to go.

Great Video. If you haven’t tried it yet, do pick up some Tyrrell’s Vat 1 Semillon. You won’t be disappointed, it’s fantastic. And I would be remiss if I also didn’t suggest some Canadian whites, such as Hidden Bench Fume Blanc from Niagara. Cheers….

Make sure you cellar some of the Tyrrell's Semillon as it is outstanding after 15+ years of bottle age. 22 vintage was a 10 out of 10 season in the hunter for Semillon. They also have the oldest surviving Chardonnay vineyard in the world, it's good to.

Just tasted the Ponzi Pinot Gris (2022). I absolutely enjoy tasting wines after see/hearing someone else’s review. With this wine, I’d did not pick up the floral notes that you did. For me, the nose was fairly closed. I picked up some green apple, chamomile, lemon pith, & citrus. I had to wait till it remained in the glass for a while before I could get much of it though. I found the palate to be fairly mineral/stone driven. It was definitely a well made wine and a great purchase at $20!
Thanks for doing an episode like this!!!

Love the channel! You absolutely must try an aged Tyrrell’s Vat 1 Semillon (20yrs+). The wine is built for ageing, and despite no oak treatment it develops some of the most incredible aged characteristics. Quite unique.
