Great 👍🏼 instructional - saw this a while ago, but just getting subs from NS with it - great tip concerning moving back towards the head/NS to finish the choke (like with an Arm Triangle)...
I have a question. why does top person have to grab bottom person's collar behind the neck? to control bottom person's movement? if bottom person doesn't move, would this choke work without grabbing collar behind the neck?
+james choi It makes the choke tighter and more effective. Like you need both collars for a cross collar choke, it's helpful to control both collars with the paper cutter choke.
Its the best grip to control and finish that submission. If you're fishing for the collar and cant seem to find it you can grab behind their tricep as an alternate grip. you'll be able to finish the choke with just 1 arm on the collar, but it'll be an objectively better sub if you get a collar grip with both hands.

Very useful video, but would be more helpful with better camera angles to show grip and positioning.
