@@SobrietyandSolace its a valid point, but i feel as though the direct approach in this context is really heart wrenching, its a painful realization and surrender to a truth he wishes were avoidable, but of course, is not. It feels like the certain point you reach where theres nowhere left to run and nothing to escape to, so being straightforward is really the only choice, albeit painful.
This is oddly my comfort song idk why, the melody and his voice is just so easy to sing along with to get any emotions out. Would love to see more joji reactions 🖤
Oddly I would listen to slow jams and albums like the trilogy on repeat before Football games. I felt like it kept my mind clear and got home focused… idk it’s so odd to me. Edit: it’s like you said it’s calming
when this song first came out, i disliked it because it wasn't like his usual style. looking back, it was way ahead of its time. it's so relatable too if you've been thru this type of thing. a very powerful song.
7 years of being strung along by a guy who eventually confessed to loving be but never wanted to be with me but never wanted me to leave either. I would cook his breakfast and do his laundry while he fucked my best friend upstairs, but when they were having issues, I’d be the one he called at 4 in the morning drunk telling me how much he wanted me, but I’d come over and then he’d treat me like shit
@@ReactionTherapyOfficialyou should react to his filthyfrank stuff since your a psychotherapist. Would love to see how you interpret some of his older videos from your point if view. Just fair warning. They can be very..very unhinged
Joji is filthy frank. For those who don't know, that's then person who CREATED the Harlem shake. It's a very beautiful story to see what this man has gone through and where he is. I'm proud to be a long term decade plus long George Miller fan. Way to go Joji!
mannnn i appriciate this mans love for music. some people his age i know would say this type of music sucks or isnt proper music anymore but he embraces it and feels it man. lotta respect man haha glad to see you doing amazing and having fun with your chanel
I dunno how old he is but I'm 43 and still listen to everything. If you have a thirst for music and exploring new artists, it really doesn't go away. Doesn't apply to everyone though - I don't think my wifes researched a new music artist in 20 years.
@@bluepandamanthose whos passion is music its always mesmerizing to find new kinds of music. Im still on the younger side but i always love exploring new styles, genres, anything music related. Keeps me going yknow😅😅

I randomly came across this channel at a dark spot (I broke up with someone I thought was the one for me in my life) but the way you plainly but genuinely and compassionately tell people what they’re feeling… it makes me feel less hopeless as other people also deal with these trials and tribulations. 2 days ago I couldn’t keep food down and now I’m learning to cope healthily with my emotions instead of letting them run my life. Thank you so much and keep up the good work for other people in need! Before I couldn’t listen to this song without breaking down and you have made this an enjoyable experience again for me that also helps me come to terms with what I have decided, thank you so much!
One of the most underrated channels! Love the way your take on songs, especially this. And so much hype you bring to the table, and then talk about the real stuff behind it. Thank you for doing these videos!
This is and continues to be my favorite song for the past few years, it brings me so much comfort, emotions, passion, and enjoyment when I listen to it. Like that other commenter said, it is my comfort song whenever I need to feel again, happy or sad.
Sometimes by finding out your own message in a song is to find out theirs as well. Doing forms of art myself I find this true. Artirts do what they do for a reaction. A lot of times people tell stories of their life through expressions of their life. Feelings can be felt in more than one way.
I feel like this is the other perspective to glimpse of us. Cause he says you look at me like someone else, which is like he says about the new girl he’s dating he sees his old relationship. I feel like they are connected
God this song. I cannot listen without crying. Even from the first line. Just such a bold line,. It says everything all while saying so little, and right at the start too. That line just sets the theme for the rest of the song. *I don't want a friend, I want my life in two.* What is more straight-forward, honest, and pure than that?
joji is my favorite artist. all of his songs are gorgeous and i feel like theres a lot that you can interpret. im glad you enjoyed the song :) also first video ive watched of yours! love the way you explain your interpretation!!
Like listening the song on it's own I don't realize how sad it is, Seeing a psychotherapist explaining what the song is giving it really hits way too deep and makes me realize a lot of things from the song to my own life, It's wild how it hit with each part he explains.
Love your video doc. I love the concept of the video as well. As an intermediate psychologist even I find it very interesting and entertaining. Keep up the good work. 👍🏻
His hooves represent what got him into fame. His sillyness, his fantasy, his craziness. The arrow represents how it is slowly killing him, hence slow dancing in the dark, his darkness was what brought him fame. The arrow in his back represents that. *you should be with him i cant compete* is pretty much saying he doesnt believe in himself to be the musical artist he originally wanted to be when he first started out making videos. this isnt about a woman its just an anecdote (Atleast my perspective)
oooh i always thought that he was hit from a cupid arrow to fall in love but as he has a goat's leg he was the sin of lust. so he couldnt fall in love and was getting really hurt due to the arrow
This song is like break even by the script, but harder. That song was good, but this is a masterpiece, the feels this song gives the pain of someone moving on from you hits way harder here.
"like you do" is the best song lyrically in joji's albun nectar pls check it out 🥺 edit: it's very similar to slow dancing in the dark in terms of context
this was really fun to watch since I've been a Joji fan for years, it's cool to hear a professional therapist break down his music. more Joji please!!! :D
you are so right actually. Joji is suffering from depression. he talked about it years ago even before he became famous. those were the type of videos he was doing before he became Filthy Frank. i am so glad he shifted to his "real talent" which is making music. i love your reaction vid. 👍
@reactiontherapy what you described at the end of the video is called interpersonal psychotherapy, going back to what you love, hobbies, music etc. Music helped me through my depression, joji, and a band named movements both helped a lot. Check out "daylily" by movements next!
We danced slowly in the dark to this song. It didn’t work out though. Now when it comes on it takes me all the way back to the bliss of that moment and I can almost feel her warmth again.
LoL i knit, about 13-15 hours a day. Combo of a.d.d., and shutting out spirits. Know you probably don’t believe in spirits, it’s my culture though, we have never denied the existence of spirits and as an empathetic i had to get into something that let me be creative & keep me busy and keep some control of not letting outside entities effect my feelings. It got real hard to distinct what i am feeling and what something/someone else is feeling.
Hey I just discovered your channel and it is so good! (I just watched 3 videos in a row lol) Hope you keep growing! And whenever you mentioned "Stab on the back" I don't know if you noticed but in the actual Joji video he is having an arrow in his back.
For me this song is almost the opposite of glimpse of us where he is dating another girl to fill the void if his ex and in this song he is on the receiving of that so he is the other guy ti fill the void after her relationship didn't work
If you noticed he had legs of a donkey (jack ass), guessing that is referring to how he feels for actually feeling or allowing himself to get into that situation.
He is a satyr. Stayrs are known for their lust. Their weakness is falling in love i think, and he got shot by cupid (dont know if this is what the video means)
"You should be with him, I can't compete"
That line is amazing. It's so sad and fits perfectly with this song.
