Why We Don't Teach Readings (yet!)
As mentioned in the introduction video to this series ( ua-cam.com/video/RKWrWRFyfYo/v-deo.html ), it is my philosophy that it is a WASTE OF TIME to learn the readings for each kanji in isolation. I explain WHY in that video.
To learn how to read kanji, I think it is best to learn WORDS that contain that kanji in the context of SENTENCES. We WILL be doing that in this series, after learning the meanings and writings for the 118 kanji in the JLPT N5 and Kanken 10 tests.
So fear not! You WILL be learning how to read them in the near future. 😊

Thank you for this. i've been taking Japanese for 9 quarters through continuing education at a local community college (had to have a covid hobby - mine were learning Japanese and to play the Harp). Because it is a continuing ed class, it meets for 2 hours once a week - we go very slowly and we hardly cover kanji at all. This is SO helpful and i'm looking forward to expanding what i know with you.

This series is going to be an incredible tool for many people. This would become perfect if Japanese pronunciations were included in the introduction of the Kanji. Like learning any English word, we learn the words, then it's definition, and come up with synonyms on our own naturally. I think this approach would elevate the series drastically; however, even without this addition, this series is still going to be great as I have not seen other channels taking the hardcore brute force approach of actually teaching each individual Kanji. Especially in this free format

Despite having learned over 1200 kanji, they rarely appear in texts, while others show up much more frequently.
