    The one type of watch I was hesitant to collect early in this hobby was vintage chronograph watches. Even though they are one of the most remarkable timepieces to own, they are not so fun to work on when there is an issue, or it's time to service one. There are several types of chronograph watches, from a simple one-minute timer like an Omega Geneve Chronostop to an immensely complicated three registers with a triple calendar plus the moon phase like a Universal Geneve Tri-compax. But what they all have in common are service cost is not cheap, and replacement parts are challenging to locate. Eventually, my interest in owning one overcame my thought of not owning one. And here I am now with over a dozen vintage chronograph watches.

    Beautiful collection. All of them are stunning. I’m a modern collector. I’m always nervous to purchase a vintage watch because I’m not sure if the parts have been changed. If I has to choose one, I really like the salmon dial with the tan strap.

      And don’t be afraid to collect vintage watches either. Self knowledge is vital. But dealing with someone who knows his vintage watches, you’ll be able to purchase a nice piece with peace of mind. If you’re interested to purchase anything on my site, I will be more than happy to assist you. But in the meantime, I do recommend that you watch this video before shopping for a vintage watch: ua-cam.com/video/pW6uKYuCkJc/v-deo.html

      Thank you for the comment! Valjoux makes some of the best chronograph movements out there. I believe a decade or two ago, ETA bought out this company. So a Valjoux 7750 is now an ETA 7750.

    These are all incredible. That Seamaster. Last year I brought a very poorly Lemania 105 back to life. It's the 32.5mm version with a very well kept dial. It's a little on the small side for me, so I'm not sure what to do with it. It has the Lemania 1275 calibre.

    • @TimelessHistoryChannel
      @TimelessHistoryChannel  Рік тому

      Thank you! What is your wrist size? For some reason, a smaller chronograph also works fine on the largest wrist, in my opinion. But if you are not interested, maybe try offering it on the "Omega Forums."

    • @mrkrsl_
      @mrkrsl_ Рік тому

      I happen to wear vintage watches while possessing larger, 7.25” or so, wrists. Is that a rare thing?!
      I'm at home with vintage sizes though. Currently for example a C cased Constellation which works perfectly. The 2mm the Lemania lacks makes a surprising difference, though its pushers etc do beef it up. I think I might try again though.

    Great video. I am a fan of all of your showcased chronographs, but found the 28.9 CHRO (CH13 T2 if i am not mistaken) to be exceptional. I too have one. I have tried reaching out to you on IG but without success so I will ask here, since it’s on topic: do you happen to know how many Omega-signed 28.9s Lemania produced in the 1932-1944 period? I cannot find numbers anywhere I’ve looked, and I understand that CH15/33.3 production greatly overlapped with 28.9 which was progressively phased out until approx ‘44, but I would love to know what then actual numbers were. Kind regards!

      Hi there,
      Thank you for the comment. Apologize for not responding to your message. With my busy schedule and the many website emails to respond to, I get little time to focus on Instagram anymore other than create a post. The DM on my IG is a lot and many questions have nothing related to the product that I have for sale.
      With regards to your question, unfortunately, I do not have any information on production quantity on any Omega chronograph calibers. But it is true and you're correct that there are much less of 28.9 compared to 33.3. However, I find that they are just as rare to own if you can find one in great shape. I just preferred 28.9 more because it fits my small wrist better.

      Thanks! Suppose you're looking for a great-looking chronograph with a higher chance of avoiding troublesome pieces. In that case, I recommend you follow other watch collectors' pages on Instagram (sometimes they will sell a piece from their collection) or purchase it from a dealer. Auction pieces can be a bit risky since a lot of collectors dump away their troublesome or a piece with some sort of issues (can be wrong hands, redial, etc) using this method.

      You are welcome to use the donate feature on my website's homepage to ask any questions unrelated to the product offered on the site. Send over some images along with your question, and I can evaluate them and let you know what they may be worth in today's market. Can't just give you a price without seeing the watch myself. Dial and hand variation can affect one's value a whole lot.

      I noticed that my Jaeger does not say "Swiss Made" below 6 o'clock but instead says "Fab Suisse." Usually, that means it is French-made or for the French market. So there is a possibility that this piece was originally sold in France and later immigrated to Quebec, Canada (also a French-speaking province).
