So my story to this song....I moved into a flat with my dad in 1999. In the attic I found some cassettes with the masterplan album recorded on it. I fell in love with oasis and the album, this song struck every chord with me. That was 1999. A few years later I started work and met a girl who turned out to be one of my best friends in life. The coincidence was that she lived in the flat before me and had left those tapes in the attic. We have been best friends ever since. These are the synchronisities we should look for in life....I even wrote a book about my childhood and included all of the stories like this that have happened to me over the years. Music was my escape so it was important to me from a really young age. Back to edit for 2024...that the girl, whose tapes I found in the attic, became friends with etc...we are going to get tickets and see Oasis together! What a lovely full circle..
It's 1998, I'm 13 and watching an amazing TV show written by Caroline Aherne with an Oasis theme tune. We had it so good! "I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you've actually left them"
45 now. Can remember the day I discovered them I had the 1994 Brit awards CD and the last track was Live Forever, 'yeah, I like that.. need to find out more of these guys'. A week or two, later I'd borrowed the Definitely Maybe CD from a girl called Louise at school. Listened to it that night at home on my Discman.. as Married with Children ended and the disc came spinning to a stop, I remember sitting there in silence and thinking 'Wow'. My life changed a little bit that night.

I miss you dad, I’m so sorry we couldn’t play this at your funeral. I so wish it was still 1998. All the family sat watching The Royal Family on BBC2 and the memories we had then. RIP see you on the other side, P.S it’s your round! Best Oasis song ever!!

It's 2024, i'm set up in another country, the old man lets me know he's not got long left. He's the last bit of family I've got and here I am learning the guitar so I can play one o his favorite songs when he eventually goes, the man's mad about the royle family, after he's gone there's no one else. Thanks Oasis.
I think this song will be played in many generations to come Simply one the best bands ever and quality music shame you dont get this sort of music anymore!!
Cairns Chaos its just, i mean, i have no opinion on it i don't like it but i don't care enough about it to hate on it its just a bit, well i reiterate....meh..
Can name at least 25 songs better than Wonderwall (and that's not me pissing on popular tracks, Wonderwall is genuinely good if overplayed, but there are at least 10 Bsides including this that are better, and at least another 10 underrated ones on albums. Gas Panic is one of my favourite songs of all time).
Watched Ricky Tomlinson and Ralf Little in their northern tour programme and they said that Noel just gave the song to be used . A true legend Noel Gallagher .
When me and my husband first got married and moved into our first home we used to watch royle family every night, I cry hearing this thinking of them first nights. I never told him how much it meant to me to have my little family and being excited at night to lay down with the man I love and just relax and watch bit of telly one of life’s most simplist things Now I’m having my first baby things didn’t work out the way I wanted them to exactly but I hope in time things do I will always love him and them memories I will tell my son about x
Keep going. I don’t even know what to say but I need to say something as reading this really moved me. Not everything goes smoothly but it makes us stronger and you will be better for it, a miracle has happened and you won’t be alone soon xxx
This is what is amazing about Oasis, I've been sat here with my guitar for about an hour and I've learned 4 amazing Oasis songs... Making simple music beautiful is an art, McCartney and Lennon did it, these boys sure did it too.
I TOTALLY AGREE!THE HOOK,RHYTHM & GENIUS LYRICISM GIVE THE GAME AWAY! Seriously, my favourite Oasis tune is The Master plan but as Noel would say 'it's a close call'!!

I love this song, this band and AURORA'S cover
@@kayalu9138 same lol
@@kayalu9138 same here and that's why I'm here
That’s why I’m here, I loved Auroras cover and realized that her version wasn’t the original, so here I am!
@@Katie-dx8bx Please treat your ears and listen to every oasis song.
I miss you dad, I’m so sorry we couldn’t play this at your funeral. I so wish it was still 1998. All the family sat watching The Royal Family on BBC2 and the memories we had then. RIP see you on the other side, P.S it’s your round!
Best Oasis song ever!!
My respects to you and your Dad bro! God bless you all. D x
master song writer. guitars. drums. great voices. all you need to make one of the best bands this world has ever seen/heard. RIP Oasis. "YOU ROCKED". I hope they make a "Stone Roses style" comeback.
I think this song will be played in many generations to come
Simply one the best bands ever and quality music shame you dont get this sort of music anymore!!
I dont care who brought you here. all that matters is you are here! welcome to good music.
yes
+Cairns Chaos hmmmm.... meh..

Cairns Chaos its just, i mean, i have no opinion on it
i don't like it
but i don't care enough about it to hate on it
its just a bit, well i reiterate....meh..
Rest in peace Caroline. Put your feet up x

Love Oasis! Everytime I listen to this song it reminds me of good times and sitting round the tv at home watching the royal family great stuff!!
*Royle family, very different from the Royal family! I also much prefer the Royles to the Royals.
Unpopular opinion: but I honestly feel that this song is better than wonderwall
I agree
Most are better than Wonderwall.
It is.
Nah it’s not, Wonderwall’s massively overrated by general audiences. Real Oasis fans know it’s not their best work.
A true legend Noel Gallagher .
the song was written for the series, as far as i know. Oasis was thinking of e royal family at first..
There's not one note or word word in this song that is anything less than perfect. Bittersweet awesomeness.
I listened to aurora cover for years, i'm hearing this for the first time, and i'm loving it.
One of the most beautiful songs humanity has ever made.
Agreed
It was written by Noel who's pretty much a God, not human.
2nd to across the universe

One of the few songs that makes me cry every time I hear it. Constantly makes me think of Caroline Aherne. She was a huge inspiration to me. RIP.
This is a perfect song. If you ever left your home town. You know. It sticks with you this song.
RIP Nana and Denise, together again half a world away ❤
And Twiggy! 😢
Anyone else reminded of the Royle Family because of this song? Classic.
Aurora has the most beautiful voice in music today, and I love her cover of this.
When she *WRITES* something as good & another 20 bolt on Classic songs let me know!
@Deep Heat, she's written some amazing and imaginative songs just as good as this one, she's been writing since a young child

Ok, I will check her out.
When me and my husband first got married and moved into our first home we used to watch royle family every night, I cry hearing this thinking of them first nights.
I never told him how much it meant to me to have my little family and being excited at night to lay down with the man I love and just relax and watch bit of telly one of life’s most simplist things
Now I’m having my first baby things didn’t work out the way I wanted them to exactly but I hope in time things do
I will always love him and them memories I will tell my son about x
Keep going. I don’t even know what to say but I need to say something as reading this really moved me. Not everything goes smoothly but it makes us stronger and you will be better for it, a miracle has happened and you won’t be alone soon xxx
R.I.P. Caroline Aherne. You truly are half the world away from us now 😢
Hy
Amen 🙏🏽
Royal family was a big part of my childhood rip caroline aherne fi mikey x
This is what is amazing about Oasis, I've been sat here with my guitar for about an hour and I've learned 4 amazing Oasis songs...
Making simple music beautiful is an art, McCartney and Lennon did it, these boys sure did it too.
Rest in peice

I TOTALLY AGREE!THE HOOK,RHYTHM & GENIUS LYRICISM GIVE THE GAME AWAY! Seriously, my favourite Oasis tune is The Master plan but as Noel would say 'it's a close call'!!
Me and my papa used to listen to oasis and this or slide away we’re our favourite songs and I come here often just to listen and I hope he’s up there listening to them with me R.I.P Papa

who was brought here by Aurora Asknes cover of this old great song?
i like both versions and thanks for writing this and allowing Aurora to do her cover as well.
Grew up listening to my dad playing oasis songs on his guitar and singing along this one is so nostalgic that it makes me cry when I hear it. Genuinely love this band and all of their music
This song is so, so beautiful and it fits Noel's voice so much 😭
The Aurora cover made me cry like the little girl i used to be. The original is just as good. They both hit me in the feels.
I love this song it reminds me of when me and my dad would have dad daughter time on a Friday night and watch the Royle family drinking tea eating biscuits while my sisters were in bed 😊
My husband loved this song, as does everybody else who is here watching it, I find comfort knowing that this song will live on forever, to me my husband will be singing the words to this everytime it’s played so he will also live forever. I love you so much Martin.
I played this song at my twin brother funeral. They are always in your heart, and live on through you.
What a song... This is why Oasis are and were the best British band of the last 30 years
No one brought me here. I came here because i love oasis.
same
its like people dont appreciate music anymore they have to get dragged here by someone
+Waren Harvey lol not necessarily. I came here because I was watching some Royle family and got reminded of this amazing song.

Oasis isnt just a band
. Its life
You're an idiot. But yeah, I like Oasis too.
Yeah, we're on
I would like to leave this city
This old town don't smell too pretty and
I can feel the warning signs running around my mind
And when I leave this island
I'll book myself into a soul asylum
'Cause I can feel the warning signs running around my mind
So here I go, I'm still scratching around in the same old hole
My body feels young but my mind is very old
So what do you say?
You can't give me the dreams that are mine anyway
Half the world away, half the world away
Half the world away
I've been lost, I've been found but I don't feel down
And when I leave this planet
You know I'd stay but I just can't stand it and
I can feel the warning signs running around my mind
And if I could leave this spirit
I'll find me a hole and I will live in it and
I can…
Thank you Anibal Ferreira
Love this song so much gets me through social anxiety and all that stuff xxx
came here for Aurora's cover, i love both versions! pretty cool song
Me too!! ⚔️🩸🦷
My dad lives in America (I’m in Scotland) just makes me think of him. B sides some of the best songs oasis made
this song makes me feel a bit happy but sad somehow
I think that's called melancholic
It's nostalgic
absolutely amazing track, inspired me to follow my dreams and get out of the shit hole that i used to inhabit
anotherquaalude I'm doing the very same thing tomorrow mate... Moving from the West Midlands to Paris. Somehow this song feels like it was wrote for me today
Oh woah! Do give an update when you're settled, man!
What happened to you guys
this song is absolutely everything
I sang this song to my mum as she was in hospital dying, i come to listing to it every now and then. Even though it makes me cry, i feel like im back in that room with her 🙁 It breaks my heart but i feel a part of her with me when i listen.
One of those songs that sounds older than it is!
Absolute classic!
This is probably their best song ever
Definitely my favorite Oasis song.
It just hits me right in the feels.
The lyrics are simple and the music is not complex by any means but what is stunning is the vocal . Noel delivers the emotion seldom seen in most performances......
came here after the little tribute to caroline aherne on gogglebox tonight. it reminded me of the week she had a really croaky voice but still narrated the whole show. RIP, what a great woman.
RIP Caroline Aherne.. Her comedy sketches and production skills were amazing.. Keep the comedy going in the clouds 😀
Sung this for my mate at a concert
(Backstory)
He’d struggled with his mental health for years and couldn’t bare it anymore
Committed Suicide at 17 5 years on and I decided to sing this song for him he was the biggest oasis fan.
Awww bless 💔
keep your head up man, never stop singing this for him
Wat a tune. I remember hearing tis for the first time in 1994 when things were simple and new. I was 16 at the time not knowing what life will bring, but I knew tat day cause I went out and bought a guitar and taught myself how to play and 1 of the first songs I learned was Half the world away. And ever since tat day I have thanked Noel for helping me do something tat I had a passion for and probably saved me.And 26 years later I'm still see him as a big influence in my life. SO THANK YOU NOEL GALLAGHER
