    I rarely comment, only ever commenting once before on this channel. I bought a Rossi Brawler. This is one of those guns you say to yourself, I don't know what I would use it for, but then you get one and immediately like it and start finding all kinds of uses for it. First and foremost, it is built tough. I bought a Rossi 20 gauge single shot shot gun 20 some years ago and let a friend borrow it while squirrel hunting in Kentucky. After we were done, we unloaded our guns and he leaned it against my truck. I thought he had put it back in the truck and I drove away, backing over it and then going over it forward as we left the woods. We got a few miles down the road and he asked if I put the shotgun in the truck and I said no, thought you did. We went back I got it. Stock was a little marked up, took it to the local old gunsmith. He looked at it and said looks good to me, put a shell in it, took a shot a stump out back of his shop and said, it's fine. I still have that shotgun. The Brawler is built like that. It's easy to shoot and easy to clean and maintain and a hell of a lot of fun to shoot, both with 45 long colt and 410 shells. My friend, my son and I took it to the range and put a few boxes of both 410 and 45 LC through it. No issues with either. We used both 3 inch and 2 and a half inch shells. With 45 LC we found it to be pretty accurate at 30 yards. We were able to hit a 12 inch plate at 30 yards consistently with iron sites. We mounted a rather inexpensive reflex red dot on it and once sighted in the accuracy improved and we consistently hit a 9 inch plate. So, fun gun to shoot at the range aside, here at the practical applications for the Brawler. It's single shot, so it forces you to slow down and use the fundamentals of shooting, grip, site picture, breath control and trigger squeeze, greatly improving or solidifying your shooting skills. It's great to use to teach shooting with. Loaded with self defense shells, we were trying out Sellier and Bellot 410 self defense shells consisting of 15 smaller pellets and 2 double 00 buck shot pellets and shooting at distances of 6 to 12 feet, which are common self defense situation distances and we had great results on pattern and accuracy at those distances. So the Brawler can be an effective home defense gun as well. It's easily packable and would be great when hiking in the woods, carrying as an extra side arm on a long hunt, using as a camp gun when camping, and for taking care of nuisance or varmint animals when legal or necessary. (Think skunks, groundhogs, snakes, etc.) Truth is there are many uses for this gun. If you can think of more uses, please let me know. Best of all, its $250 or less brand new and their are a few companies out there making really nice holsters for them too. My 18 year old son doesn't share the same passion for shooting as I do, (unless it involves shooting on his video games) and every time I buy a new firearm and show him, I can usually see dollar signs in his eyes as he thinks, when Dad is gone I can get good money for his collection.......but after shooting the Brawler he looked at me for the first time and said Dad, I'm keeping this one, I like it. I said, son I don't plan on going anytime soon so go get your own Brawler dammit. In conclusion, I have dozens of firearms, some hand guns in the $1,000-$2,000 range. I buy and sell and try new stuff out because I just like to shoot. (20 plus years as a soldier and 16 years and counting as a Deputy sheriff) I am a shooter not a collector, but I aint never parting with my Brawler. It is just that much fun and plenty useful. Good review Al !!!

      How’s it going my friend? The little browser. It is a blast to shoot that’s for sure. My son and I. We call it the little hand cannon. And with the 45 colt. It’s pretty accurate. At 50 and 60 yards. We can both half gallon milk jugs. Just about every shot. That is of a steady rest I really appreciate you watching my friend. You take care and have a wonderful night and a great weekend. 👍👍👍👍👍

    A great re-review of this hog leg ... it seems that most of your viewers think it's more for snakes ... at least when shooting shot shells. I think a snake out to 20-25 feet would be dead on delivery. The .45 LC shot quite nicely. A good day for having some fun.

      Thank you my friend. It’s surprisingly accurate with the 45 long colt. After putting this optic on can’t wait to give this a try out about 50 to 100 yards. I think it’s going to do pretty good. Good shooting, Al! The 45 Colt is doing great. I think the .410 capability is more a novelty. It would be devastating up close, but this ain't no squirrel gun. 😂😂

    • @TheWalkWithAl
      @TheWalkWithAl  Рік тому +3

      After putting a optic on this one. It was surprisingly accurate I would like to give it a try at them longer distance shot but you’re right the 410 is nothing to write home about😂😂😂. It would probably be good for snakes and up close and personal. Defense. It does pretty good with the the critical defense around by Hornady. But someone said you don’t post to use those in this firearm for some reason. But I can’t see why not. I’m going to contact the factory. And get some more information on this. You take care and have a wonderful night my friend. It’s always a pleasure.👍👍👍👍👍

  • @robertseafield5810
    @robertseafield5810 Рік тому +2

    The rifled barrel will give you a donut pattern with the 410. It spins the shot outward, away from the middle. Still makes a good short range snake gun.
    Good video. Maybe try shooting the 410 closer until you get a better pattern. The TC Contender barrels could be had with a choke to stop the spin.

    • @TheWalkWithAl
      @TheWalkWithAl  Рік тому

    This was a fun update, Al. It would seem that the short barrel just patterned the 410 rounds out so big that they just didn’t print out from 15-20 yards. What a fun gun to play with! 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸

      The optic really helped with the 45 long colt. But not so much with the. 410 gauge. I think it’s because of the rifling. Would be good for snakes. At about 5 to 10 yards. Al shot shells never shoot well in rifled barrels due to the cylindrical force caused by the rifling which causes the shot to spread out much more rapidly than a smooth bore barrel.

      Same concept as too tight constricting choke. Turkey chokes work great with turkey loads, not so much #8. It forces the bb together causing them to bounce off each other making an erratic pattern

    I found a red dot to be the ticket with this gun. Also recommend taking the picatinny off and using some loctite on it first. I’ve had great luck out to 50 yards 100 has been a bit of a challenge but not undoable. Great little gun in my opinion.

      hello friend, as a reloader of 44years I've learned to at times to experiment and improvise. I bought my rossi brawler a week ago thinking while waiting for my brass to get here I would try 45acp and it worked wonderfully. to make it work I went to local harbor freight and bought a 225 peace pack / box of nitrile metric o- ring assortment. it has 18 sizes. I used sizes ps 7.9x2.4mm ,fo106 8x2mm , p9 8.8.8x1.9. I shot 24rounds and all worked flawlessly and accurately but one stuck I think using size ps 7.8x1.9 which got behind the extractor. tip of pocket knife got it out easy. haven't shot 410 yet. I love the idea of shooting 410/45acp/ 45colt .the way ammunition is today that's a big plus in my book. it will be a little harder to shut the action. I'm about deaf in both ears and can barely hear the action shut so after shutting action I doubt check its shut.papa wishing you well. 😊

    Does good with the 45 Colt & might with 410 slug load. Could be just me but it looked like with shotshells a lot of shot was hitting in front of target. Rifling may be causing it to spin downward. I think it's a neat little pistol. Try it on some hand tossed/slow clay pigeons. 👍💥

      Seem to do pretty good with a 45 long colt. But with the shot shield not so good. After the video. I put up a cardboard box. Diameter, 4 feet by 4 foot at 15 yards aiming dead center of the target. Hardly anything in the center of the target. But all the way around it. Was peppered pretty good. It’s almost like the Rifling. Is causing a hole. In the pattern. Go figure. Take care my friend. Having some bad thunderstorms down here this evening. It’s always a pleasure my friend.👍👍👍👍

    Great follow up vid Al.
    The Rossi Brawler (in my opinion) has the same real world,
    effective range as the Taurus judge. With anything besides 45lc, the
    effective range, whether shot, buckshot etc is no greater than
    about ten yards. And that's pushing it! In my opinion. (Smile)
    If you want to shoot longer distances... 45lc is definitely the way to go.
    But for the closest thing you can get to a shot barrel shotgun that fits in
    the palm of your hand... I'm loving it! (Smile)

And make sure you got your gun secure I have gun vice that works pretty good. Then click over to the shot you made in the cardboard. Proper trigger finger placement is what dropped your shot low and left. Center of the tip of your finger, that shot was on the very tip. If you shoot high and right it’s because you were back at the knuckle of your first digit. Finger placement is the most important thing about a trigger and we’ll throw your shot off. That was not a pull, that was a push, for a right handed shooter pull is high and right, push is low and left

    My contenders shoot better groups than that at 100 yards. As usual with these 45/410 combination guns, by trying to make it do everything, they have made it shit at everything. Would be a great gun if it was just a 45 colt, or if it was just a 410 shotgun. They can't legally make it a smoothbore shotgun because the NFA would classify a smooth bore handgun as an "any other weopon" and require a tax stamp. What they should do to make it really functional as a shotgun is put a very long rifling twist in it, like 1:200" or something like that. That way it wouldn't make donut patterns with birdshot.

    this gun is a pistol. it is made to shoot about the same distance as you would shoot your glock 9mm. this gun was not made to shoot past 10 - 15 yards. Im going to build a 12 guage like it but it will require a tax stamp but it will be 4 times the gun this 410 is.

      Just get a Diablo, or a Desperado and be content with their limitations. Simpler, cheaper and faster that federal red tape.
