Thank you for the video. Please can you do a video ranking just the distance/online learning MSc Quantity Surveying courses? I have a dilemma of where to study
Curious to know why Kingston is not on this list? Spoke to a recruiter and it's of his belief Kingston produces higher quality QS graduates than Heriot and Southbank (Southbank at least). Does university matter much because I was thinking of going to Kingston for my MSc Conversion but now I'm confused as it hasn't even made the top 10. Thanks
Don't be too concerned about these lists. They are built up from TheUniversityGuide. Here's a link for your viewing www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk/courses/search/postgraduate/quantity-surveying?qualification=postgraduate&pg=2#h5
@@Metroun Thanks for your reply. Kingston is actually very low on the Building League Tables. Concerned about this. Will this matter much to employers? Can't seem to find any reviews online about Kingston MSc. I spoke to one recruiter who said university doesn't matter much as long as it's RICs accredited but then some other (maybe less experienced) recruiters said the uni matters.

Hello, Reading is not included in this video as its called as "MSc Construction Cost Management" and we've specifically chosen topics titled Quantity Surveying. Overall the University of Reading is rated 36th on the University League Table 2022
From personal experience, most people who carry out a master’s degree, already hold a degree in a different subject. The master’s degree gains them a qualification in Quantity Surveying without needing to complete another degree.
If you have an undergrad degree in something building related, the answer is usually yes. Check each universities admission page to get a better understanding though.
Interesting to see. I started the distance learning course at Heriott-Watt and I really couldn't get into it. I have since moved to UCEM and have found it a lot more interesting and involved. Not saying the course at Heriott-Watt isn't good, as clearly it must be to be at number 1, but it shows that each University and student meet each others needs differently! Maybe as someone who came from a non-construction background I benefit more from a more active and involved learning environment!
@@Metroun Scheduled to complete the course in mid-2023. As I say, in-person courses may be a lot different. UCEM seems to have its online course dialed to a high standard with a lot of student support, both academically and generally.
@@ThePortugindian Hello Dom, I have just granted entry for MSC program at heriot wat uni, i would like to ask if that course was MSC or BSC? I was happy that i got the admission but after reading your comment i am confused
Good. I have heard similar feedback about Heriott-Watt even in full time course they finding it really tough and passing percentages has been went down.
Hi, I am from India and planning to pursue my Masters in QS in Ireland from Limerick Institute of Technology. Is it a good decision to get employment thereafter?
The market is still definitely in need of Quantity Surveyors and it looks like this will remain the case for the foreseeable future. We hope our videos will support you through your studies.
Great video....as always my friend. Does this apply to masters in building surveying 2?? As I'm currently do a BSc [Hons] in building Surveying at university of Wolverhampton. Due to finish in june 2023 wanting to start a masters in September 2023. Thnks metroun.
@@Metroun I'm planning to move to UK for this course in this Sept. Basically I'm a mechanical engineer and working as a MEP engineer in a construction company in Dubai for past 3 years. I would like to relocate to the UK permanently. Will it be possible by choosing this course? Is there anything better than this?
@@minilroy8774 If you get accepted to do this course in the UK, you'd be able to come over on a Graduate Visa. www.gov.uk/graduate-visa A Graduate visa lasts for 2 years. If you have a PHD or other doctoral qualification, it will last for 3 years. After that, you will need to apply for a skilled worker visa www.gov.uk/skilled-worker-visa Your visa can last for up to 5 years before you need to extend it. You’ll need to apply to extend or update your visa when it expires or if you change jobs or employer. After 5 years, you may be able to apply to settle permanently in the UK (also known as ‘indefinite leave to remain’). This gives you the right to live, work and study here for as long as you like, and apply for benefits if you’re eligible.
@@Metroun Thank you. But the chances of getting employed in the sector in UK after completing this course worries me. Is there that much opportunities available for QS? Since I'm from mechanical engineering background will it be smooth?

Also curious to know how you placed LSBU as second when it's 27th on the Building League table.
I didn't know the courses were only a year long?. From my research, a lot of the universities state a 3 year course full time of course.
These are all post graduate degrees so this is why some are only 1 year. Under graduate degrees tend to be 3 years long
How does UCEM compare to these universities?

Can you tell me what's the difference between master in quantity surveying and master in quantity surveying with commercial management?
There would most likely be a different syllabus for each. We'd suggest looking at both and determining what best fits your requirements.
Wouldn’t it just be better to become chartered instead of doing a masters?
