Hi Mike. If you can get a 4 wheeler trail to the trees that your tractor can maneuver down. The boat pulling logs in the summer is interesting too. As others have said it might just not be worth it either. Take care.
Hi Dave! I am leaning toward your idea the more I think about it. The super hero in me would like to make this some sort of grand extraction, but the value of the wood and the expense wouldn’t be worth it. I’m going to let it keep freezing and take a shot very soon. There are laws around rivers and lakes that may not allow me to drag wood through the river. I have to check on that also. To your last point, this whole idea may not have any value other than entertainment. Thanks for watching and for the awesome comment. WST
@@WSTMike I’m from NW Ontario. It’s common here to get through swamps and muskeg that way on “winter roads“. I do like the idea of a Wallenstein winch or a similar European winch for your tractor. I think that they work fantastically for a smaller to medium bush lot. I’m looking forward to seeing you get the wood. Thanks fotr
I am assuming them trees are downstream, if they are upstream cut them into manageable lengths and float them to the landing ( way old school) might be enjoyable on a hot summer afternoon
Hi Heinzie! The trees in question are downstream. So, letting the river work for me is out of the question. I will have to work against her. We will see what I decide to do. If this becomes a reality, it will be one heck of a video! Thank you for watching as always. WST
Prioritizing around weather?? never thought about that I just thought everyone else just worked throu it like I do.. Now around snow I can understand that one as you cant find anything even the shovel my son left in the yard.. LoL Thanks for the shout out..
Hi Daniel! There are things I should have done before the weather I know is coming. Otherwise, you are right, you just work through it. As for your shovel, it is in your yard. That is the best I can do to help. Thanks for watching my friend! WST
As a river fisherman, I'm guessing that the river would never freeze enough to run the machine on. I once met a guy who hauled sunken logs out of a former mill river with an ATV.
Hi Anthony! You are exactly right. It never freezes over enough to skid logs etc. It will sometimes freeze enough for deer crossings, that's it. The 4 wheeler is the first plan of attack, so we will see how that goes very soon. Thanks for watching my friend! WST
This probably wouldn't be economical but maybe find a strong tree at each end and setup a zipline for 8' logs and just send em LOL looks like a peaceful place for doing renewable resource extraction!
Hi Deadwood! Your idea is the best so far. I think that would be a fun adventure! Not sure how feasible it is, but I definitely have the anchor trees. I would have to string that baby tight and have some pretty thick cable. Anyway, I loved the idea, because you made me think about it for a second 🤣 Thanks for watching and commenting. WST
Mike, a great piece of property! Duck hunting at its best. Nice Ash that you got bucked up. 2-3 ideas, 1 is to float the logs like the good ole days if possible, 2nd would be to see if you can get a winch nears and do it that way, 3rd is to see if it will freeze hard enough to get over there with your tractor or mini Excavator. That is the only way i know of unless you have a friend who owns property near you that you can access from a different side if not to far out of the way. Nice carryall! Don is a great guy, been following his channel and really like his Carryall project. @outdoor with this guy Don what part of Missouri are you from? Thanks for the great content Wood Sweat & Tears!
Hi Craig! Now that I know you are not from Michigan (I apologize by the way) I'll treat you with the same respect as other wood hounds in that state..... pretty darn good! We love the property and pretty fortunate to live here. As for your ideas, 1 and 2 have merit. Idea 3 is not possible. The river doesn't freeze that hard due to current. The only way to that part of the property is from my side. My neighbor has ponds and a developed "park like" area on the river that he would not let me take equipment through. It is just a matter of figuring out if the cost is worth the reward. I am in the process of figuring that out. Don is a great guy and I saw that you were supporting him. A simple thing like a carryall for us "wood heaters" is a nice tool to have. Thanks for watching as always. We appreciate you!!! WST

There you go it must be time to get your winch just think of how much wood you can get once it's frozen and you can get over there spend a day or two just pulling to dry land then you have All the time to get it cut
Hi Larry! I appreciate the comment. I am going to take that project day by day and see what is the best way to tackle it, if ever. I thought it would be a good thing to throw out to the viewers. I was hoping you had a chopper and would offer to fly up here and helicopter the wood to the woodyard! Now, that would be a great video! Thanks as always for the time! WST
I’m just trying to figure out if I’ve ever seen left handed chainsaws before, as for your tree problem I would say if it doesn’t freeze hard enough to get across that low spot with equipment then maybe try in the summer floating them across. You sure don’t want to get wet this time of year, take care
Hello ALL Firewood! Nice to have you. The trick to getting a left handed chainsaw is switch the camera around using the screen side to shoot the video. It inverses everything. I do that from time to time to get a certain shot and left handed saw comments. You are not the first. If I can get 2-3 weeks in the 20’s, it’s worth a shot to get across the low land. There is just not a high probability of that. I appreciate the comment and thanks for watching. More to come. WST
@@WSTMike lol good trick, I cannot believe how they can do that. There is also ways to help build a ice road of sorts, if you have a quad or something like that you can smash down the snow before a real cold snap then it will turn to ice and help hold up the tractor

Hi John! The river never freezes that solid. There is enough flow that the ice never would get thick enough to support that kind of weight. We will get enough ice at times that there will be enough ice for the deer to cross. I appreciate the comment and thank you for watching WST. Hope to see you in the comments again soon! WST
Hi Brad! I agree with the airlift idea. I appreciate the knowledge on the CH-47, but Walmart just sold their last one.....Anyway, back to the drawing board. I appreciate you, Brad! Have a great day and thanks for watching! WST
If the river freezes couldn't you cut them down let them fall down onto the ice or even not on the ice to break it and then use a children's toboggan or an engine hold off of a car and a four-wheeler or something and take them across the ice or even when there where your lowland is if you don't want to build a pass because it'd be too expensive for to build it big enough for the tractor or truck you could probably put some Bank gravel in it and make yourself a roadway for a four wheeler if you have one
Hi Kent! The river unfortunately never freezes over thick enough to put any measurable weight on it. We have had deer cross from time to time, but that is rare. With the deep freeze hitting Michigan and other parts of the country, there is a good chance it will freeze over. The other thing is there is a decent current in this river. Just too risky. The plan right now is to use the 4 wheeler and beat down a path. I'm hoping it will freeze enough to use the tractor eventually. We will see! Thank you for watching and commenting. We appreciate it!
Thanks fotr
I meant to say thanks for the entertaining and informative videos. I hit the wrong button!
@@daveabercrombie3446 I appreciate that comment. It means a lot. Have a great day!
Be safe my friend
Thanks, Dave. You too! WST
WST
@@WSTMike : hey Ben at OGA Outdoors sent me over.. Dont know why tho..🤣🤣👍

Hi Doug! True story. Thank you for watching and picking out the gems! Take care!
WST
Mike, Not a problem at all! It is hard to keep track.of names and where people live. I see, i wasnt sure about your property. Hope you can figure out a way to get those trees out. Don is a great guy. Your videos and his are great. That is what keeps us woodhounds coming back. Have a great evening!

Friggin 3rd attempt at leaving a comment on this video. Is UA-cam holding my comments for review or what? Are they afraid of me sharing my brilliance with fellow UA-camrs? Afraid of how successful they will become if they receive such said brilliance? Anyway, I’ve got the answer for your dilemma Mike.👍🏻
Hey FM! If you go by the book, UA-cam will say it is the users fault. After careful calculations.... that would be you. I appreciate you throwing the word brilliance around like it follows you. Now I'm sure everything I've said to this point is incorrect, so, I would just love to know what brilliant answer you have for my dilemma? I am also very sure that the viewers are on the edge of their seats right now. Is there a part two to this comment? Please say, YES! Thank you for watching and I would like to apologize on behalf of UA-cam for them holding your comments for review. They just don't like the rest of us getting brilliant.
@@a.l.l.firewood8883 4 wheeler smashing will ensue very soon. The temps are on our side for the moment. It will be a very poor man’s version of ice road truckers.
Used to know a guy that brought home a boat load of wood each time he cut, its adds up
Hi Harold! I agree with you. It all adds up over time. Plus, it is an easier pace to work at. Thank you for checking out the channel. Hope to see you in past or future video chats. Take care! WST
I pull most of my wood Thur the woods cut to what I think the mule Kawasaki can handle then cut it up were and when I want to
Hi Dave! The Mule is a nice machine. We have a dealer very close here and see a lot of them around the lake. Smart to bring the wood to where it makes sense. We agree! Thanks for watching! WST
A small ATV and trailer and have a pack trail going there
Hi Larry, with the deep freeze I am going to try. I’ve got her stuck below the axles before….. in the winter. We will see how it goes soon
If the river freezes can you skid the logs across the ice?
Hi John! The river never freezes that solid. There is enough flow that the ice never would get thick enough to support that kind of weight. We will get enough ice at times that there will be enough ice for the deer to cross. I appreciate the comment and thank you for watching WST. Hope to see you in the comments again soon! WST
Helicopter. Probably a CH-47 just to be safe- plenty of lift at your altitude. Not sure if Husqvarna makes choppers tho
Hi Brad! I agree with the airlift idea. I appreciate the knowledge on the CH-47, but Walmart just sold their last one.....Anyway, back to the drawing board. I appreciate you, Brad! Have a great day and thanks for watching! WST
They used to make both rifles and pistols; didja know that? Pistols like the Luger 9mm.
@@notmyname3883 I do have my grandfather’s Luger 9mm. Made in 1918 (by DMW) and captured in 1944.
WST
You need a skyline and carriage to fly them across river. Lol.
Hi Bill! Just like Ax Men!! Do you remember that show? I watched that show religiously. Boy, wouldn’t that be something to see on WST! Thanks for the “not so crazy” but out of my budget idea. Take care my friend! WST
Here is suggestion for your trees by the river. Rent a helicopter to pick them out and drop them in your wood yard. 😉
Hello Mom! You know, I actually made that same comment earlier today to a viewer. That would be the hands down, easiest way to get this done. So when are you bringing your helicopter over? 🤣 Thanks for watching! WST
