Start easy - become invisible - assert your final vision - just when I think I have heard everything Mark has to say about making a documentary here comes another gem I never thought of before
Just bought your cine lut pack. Not because I need it for grading necessarily, but because I wanted to give something back for the value you're providing this community. Thanks, bud!
It was a fun one to create! On the pre light day this one kind of happened by chance, the light was left on from the previous scene and me (gaffer), DP, and Director - all fell in love !
Brilliant stuff Mark... sooooooo appreciate you sharing your journey of putting together this documentary. Wishing you and your team the very best for 2025 and believing for a breakthrough in someone BIG picking up and running with your doc. Cheers mate!
How you went about editing this has really impacted the documentary I am currently working on…can’t wait to see how I implement what I’ve learnt Thank you Mark! 🎥
👍🏻 That final blue and yellow B&W color grade over the top gives it so much character - ties the whole story together and gives it such a distinct identity.
🎥 I thoroughly enjoyed this breakdown. Thank you for taking the time and effort to make this happen. Best of luck pitching to Netflix and keep up the great work!
Dang, good job, brain! I saw the tiny little thumbnail on my phone, just a dark silhouette and I knew it was Chrith! The one and only 😂 Edit: The title was cut off so I didn't see the "CBUM"
🎞️🎬 I dunno which film emoji to use, so I picked up a couple. I love this kind of work you do, so so so much.. It’s inspiring and emotional to be able to see all the process from your perspective!
🎞️ Love that you put the camera and lenses so we can geek out on gear without interrupting your thought process. But I have two geek out questions, did you use any filters and do you use any film grain in post?
Thank you for sharing every informative filming knowledge this year. Wishing you a prosperous happy new year 2025🎉🙏🏾🎊📈Greetings from Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬
Hey, just wanted to say I love your channel, and to ask a question if you have time to answer it. I am trying my hand at making a documentary of my own, and have very limited funds. I own an ok lav mic, and a crappy light. I can either buy a decent key light to use for this project and future ones. Or alternatively I can rent the light, and better audio equipment for a few days for the same price. I'd love to get your opinion on what you think the better option would be. Thanks!!
Thank you very much! I learned so much from ur videos!!! ❤️❤️ I bought a FX6 and your suggestet lenses etc. Is it all filmed with the Heavy Mist Filter vom PolarPro or have you used different ones. And do you have a little tip to film people with sunglasses? Maybe a mixed pol and mist filter? My first project is for a famous musician who always wears sunglasses. I really love your mist filter look! Greetings from Germany. Youre so amazing. I cant believe I‘ve found your channel!!
Another great video. Thank´s. Btw. I bought the LUT-package from the link here on UA-cam, but some how I've terminated the window in my browser before I got the LUT-files. Is it possible to log in some where to download? ( I am a member of AOD)
The shot you couldn’t decide between would have ripped me apart. I liked the first one “cinematically” more, but the second one did fit the payoff and show off the muscles.

This was an absolutely insane breakdown. Huge help for understanding how to combine the emotions, dialogue, and visuals 🔥🔥
Someone get this brother a Netflix deal!!!
The shot of CBum with the light shining through the fan has been my favorite shot of 2024. The color, the mood, everything is amazing!
It was a fun one to create! On the pre light day this one kind of happened by chance, the light was left on from the previous scene and me (gaffer), DP, and Director - all fell in love !
@@DerekLamoureux I would try and steal that shot but I wouldn’t be able to pull it off as good!
The Curtain Opening and Closing was so good. That's filmmaking at its finest.
this is why I love the film breakdowns from AOD! Such value you don’t really get that’s not “lesson worthy” but still so many little nuggets🔥
Never expected this collab and Im all for it
🎥🎥 so so good man, the breakdowns help more than you know. Just hearing the thought process behind every shot🙌
Brilliant stuff Mark... sooooooo appreciate you sharing your journey of putting together this documentary. Wishing you and your team the very best for 2025 and believing for a breakthrough in someone BIG picking up and running with your doc. Cheers mate!
I agree when you asked us to compare the strength shots. I love the second because of his body shake while he's trying to lift those dumbbells.
🎥Love hearing you break down this project! Very inspiring.
How you went about editing this has really impacted the documentary I am currently working on…can’t wait to see how I implement what I’ve learnt
Thank you Mark! 🎥

Both of those shots are nice . If want to continue the mysteriousness the shot thru the gym apparatus would work too.

😄🎥 Mark, thank you for providing this video to us. It was a great breakdown of what will be a great documentary to come out in 2025.
My pleasure! 🙏
@@markbone Thank you! I look forward to the AOD call this morning!
RE: which shot... the first one with all the foreground obstructions.
Ok, I loved this but MUST KNOW where that green button up is from. I need it.
I watched the whole thing
hey mark please make some videos on writing screenplay .it would help a lot
Another great video. Thank´s. Btw. I bought the LUT-package from the link here on UA-cam, but some how I've terminated the window in my browser before I got the LUT-files. Is it possible to log in some where to download? ( I am a member of AOD)
🎥 🎞 awesome 👌
In the scene at 19:32, did you mount all the tubes light at the ceiling and right side of the frame or were those inhouse? Thanks!
🎞📽 I'd pay to watch this on Netflix
🎞📽 I never comment on you tube, But this was worth it!
I don't see the suction mount link!! would love to know what that is and give you some affiliate bucks haha

Hi Mark, what was your thinking in the frame size? Did you shoot in UHD? or was the end deliverable UHD Frame size and you shoot in DCI 4K? Thanks.
epic 🎥
The shot you couldn’t decide between would have ripped me apart. I liked the first one “cinematically” more, but the second one did fit the payoff and show off the muscles.
That was the exact struggle 😂
Excellent content.
Glad you think so!
Man this inspires me to get my butt going in 2025 and shoot my first short doc
🎥🎥🎥
Btw, you put Sennheiser at the beginning of this and then said, "Thanks to our sponsor Riverside" lol
🎥📽️
Did you have a link for the suction mount?

@@markbone THANK YOU!!!
🎥 🙏🏽
Are these luts available for purchase?
📽📽📽
Didn’t hear anything as to wether or not that seinheiser has 32bit float
I don’t think it does :(
Total blow then, who would choose this over rode or ski with 32 bit float?
