I was like... it's all fried chicken and you can't put sauce on them? Really? The next night, I made a batch of my own honey BBQ out of ketchup, molasses, red pepper flakes and alfalfa honey from a farmer's market. Took it in a huge plastic bowl and stared at them from my seat the whole time I was eating and then never went back.
When I ate at a McDonald's in the US a long time ago, they gave me a handful of ketchup instead of just one. I observed the people around me and found that they were throwing away the ketchup they had not used. I felt that this is a country where there is no sense of waste.
Some of us have drawers at home where we stash all those extras in case they forget it when we get drive thru. Although one packet of ketchup is like 2 fries for me, so they better give me more than 1.

Melbourne has one of the darkest general colour schemes for fashion of anywhere I have ever been. If she was wearing that kind of lolita style back in Melbs, she would would for sure get a lot of, likely, unwanted attention and judgement. It's cute though, so you do you.

京都とかある程度の規模の都市とか、地域によりけりだとは思いますが、東京はわざわざ声にして運転手さんにお礼を言うというのはしない印象ですね。私の場合は、あまりバスを使ってなかったんで正直判りませんけど、印象としてはそんな感じです。2年前に田舎の方に越してきてからバスを使うようになりましたけど、最初は意識して挨拶やお礼(乗車時に「おはようございます」とか)するようにしてました。感覚としてはそういう感じなんだと思います(東京では、このやり取りは一般的では無いイメージです(これも世代と場所に依るとは思いますけど))。
利害関係のない赤の他人との接し方は関東と関西では全然違いますね。
それでも飲食店で「ごちそうさまでした」とか、バスの降車時に「ありがとうございました」は関東でもちょくちょく見かけますよ。
でもコンビニとかスーパーのレジにお礼を言う人はほとんど見かけないかも。

コンビニで酒を売ってるのは、買う側も公共の場では飲まず、家に帰って家で飲むということが当たり前だという常識があるから成り立つのです。
海外のように公共の場で昼から酒を飲むのが普通というのを許容する文化じゃないからです。昼間から酔っぱらいが出て治安悪化するから、海外ではそれがあるから法律で禁じなきゃならないのでしょう。
だから、海外旅行者がコンビニで酒を売ってるからとコンビニで酒を買い、それを飲みながら歩いて観光するのは日本においては感心出来ないことだと教えてあげて下さい。
日本でも路上飲みなんかを推奨はしていないことを知らずに外国人がやっているとそれを海外の当たり前、カッコいいと勘違いした日本人が真似るという負のループ😅
モラルが崩れるといちいち法律で罰しないと守れないのは文化的では無いですねえ。もう少し日本のことを調べてから来て欲しいですね。

日本でバスを降りる時に「ありがとう」は普通に言いますよ。きっと驚いているのは「ありがとう」を言った事に対してではなく、単にまだ外国の方に慣れていないだけだと思います。東京の都心や観光地ならともかく、そうした場所から少し離れた場所だと、まだ外国の方に慣れていない日本人が多いので。けっして悪気があって驚いているのではないので、気にしないでいいですよ。
