Say whatever you like but I promise you to be in the house for this performance was thrilling! And you will be hate pressed to find anything close today. Scotto and Domingo gave 100% of themselves.
I always return to this video. Domingo and Scotto giving their all. The audience clapping as he steps onto the ship….very moving. During their bows you can see how much it took out of them
Do you hate this wonderful masterpiece, full of passion, squezzing, perfumed music and with a great melody from beginning to end! O it's my favourite!!!!!. Listening last act, a long and hot love duet I could die happy.
It wasn't that she was maligned so much as she sang long past the time she lost her voice; it was sad to watch At the time, I wondered what, in fact, happened to her voice.
Are you the same Mignon Dunn whom I saw in LA FORZA DEL DESTINO on 13 February 1960 at the Met? Miss Dunn, I disagree with you. Renata Scotto rarely had a good review in New York after her return in the seventies. The critics were rather nasty. She still had plenty of voice until the heavier roles took their toll on her instrument. Still, with a diminished vocal ability Miss Scotto was able to be very effective on the operatic stage. She was small in stature, but her presence was immense.
I watched this performance on the TV, it is still my favorite one. This scene always makes me cry

Today, the work of Renata Scotto is highly appreciated, but back in the eighties she was much maligned.
Maravilhoso. O publico se envolve e isso é tudo de bom. Épico!!!!!
SO MOVING, SO TOUCHING...IT REALLY GETS TO THE HEART....IMPOSSIBLE NOT TO CRY !!!
♥️👍👍
Intenses et bouleversants tous les deux. On ne peut qu'être pris par une prestation aussi brillante.

The magic of Puccini!
The staging of this production was done by Gian Carlo Menotti.
Old but gold.
Domingo also killed this aria in the production with Kiri te Kanawa - fabulous!!!!!
Nunca me cansa de este opera cuando el gran Domingo es Des Grieux. Sublime. Gracias.

La Scotto un'artista ... sublime...

I really hate 99% of this opera but both of Des Grieux's arias are great
He has four.
