Sailing To Byzantium, it is a poem by William Butler Yeats(1865-1939).
"Sailing to Byzantium" is his definitive state ment about the agony of old age and the imaginative and spiritual work required to remain a vital individual even when the heart is "fastened to a dying animal".
It symbolizes a journey from the sensual to the spiritual world or the world of art,intellect and the spirit.
Yeats wrote this poem in 1926 and it was published in 1928.It has 4 stanzas and 32 lines in total. He wrote this poem with Iambic Pentameter and Rhyme Schemed AB AB AB CC
