    Beautiful explanation Tovia. It really is amazing how little Christians know about our Torah and this of course is a result of their teachers telling them the Torah was finished when Jesus died and resurrected. Therefore no need for Torah understanding or what that Torah means to AHM Israel.
    When speaking against the Oral Torah the Hebrew Roots movements do this as a result of many of their teachers telling them that the Oral Torah was all birthed from the Rabbi's who wanted to control the masses. They have no idea how important the traditions handed down would allow us to preserve the Hebrew language in order to read a Torah scroll and understand what we were reading.
    May HaShem increase your knowledge and wisdom to teach the masses that are coming to the Tzadik's of HaShem to learn of Him and Torat Moshe.
    Kol Ha Ka'vod

      Exactly! Christianity foolishly rejects the Talmud, without having the first clue what it even is! They preach that it's some type of evil book, and therefore don't know that the Hebrew scriptures CANNOT be understood WITHOUT the Talmud!

    The schwa in the English dictionary that looks like an inverted lower case e is the equivalent of what in Hebrew is called a schva na and makes the sound between the second t and the l in the word bottle. A schva na appears at the beginning of a syllable. At the end of a syllable it is called a schva nach and actually has no sound.

    And herein lies the rub...noting all the first-century c.e. groups in Iudea that DIDN'T want to accept the Oral Torah. Or the correct vowels.

    The shwa which you find in a dictionary looks like ə, is the exact same thing in the Hebrew shvah. And that is to break up a word into syllables and in the event that it is pronounced, it would be pronounced as an e (as in "end").

    The Masoretic text was edited, copied, and distributed with vowel markings between the 7th and 10th century CE based on Mesora (oral tradition). Although it is the main text used by Orthodox Jews and forms the basis of the Tanakh translations used by Jews and Christians, scholars also make use of Greek and Aramaic translations. These translations are considered valuable because they added vowels earlier than the Masorites. The LXX Greek was translated beginning in the 3rd century BCE and completed by the mid 2nd century CE. The Aramaic Peshitta had vowel markings added by the 5th century CE. Both the Greek and Aramaic were translated prior to the additions of the Masoretic vowels in the 7th - 10th centuries CE. Do any Orthodox Jewish rabbis place any value at all on the LXX and the Peshitta?

      Thank you for your post (relative to LXX and Jesus' sayings as well as NT use of LXX. What is the source of your information (for reference purposes). Also, when you say "Jesus used this Bible 90% of the time" it is important to consider that this is in accordance with koine Greek New Testament which obviously would quote from the LXX. Are you familiar with the Peshitta? Please see www.aramaicbibleperspectives.com

I have seen the DSS first hand and BTW - what do the vowel points have to do with DSS? Also, which old texts are you referring to? Someone at The Narrow Path is putting in replies to my comments and then they disappear from the string. The latest says "The Messiah read from the scrolls which contain the scriptures of God to Isra'el his chosen peoples. There were no bibles then and the gospel of matthew the record of what the Messiah taught was not released till after the anti christ jesus teachings of Paul took hold and polluted everything!" This has absolutely nothing to do with my post. Also, the scrolls that Meschiach (no definite article) read from would be the Isaiah scroll (Lk. 4) without vowel points in Hebrew and not in Greek as in Alexandria. Paul is not giving anti-christ teachings but that has nothing to do with my post either. I encourage the writer of these replies to stay on track.

    • @bibleperspectives8116
      @bibleperspectives8116 7 років тому

      For Jews there are 613 commandments and not merely 10. Jesus upheld the teachings of the Pharisees but not some of their conduct. For non-Jews, Orthodox Judaism recognizes 7 laws and these seem to fit with Acts 15, Galatians, and Colossians when read from a Semitic perspective. But, if you still believe Paul taught the doctrines of AntiChrist these texts don't fit your schema. There is a collection of books that came to be called "The New Testament." The books can be validated but they do not validate the name NT which was a product of replacement theology. Israel was never lost but it was dispersed. I am glad that, as a Jew, you desire to return. Blessings . . .

      It is a placeholder and depends on the nikkud (diacritics) around it. The nikkud are vowels but aleph is neutral/ a consonant in that it's a letter that's not a vowel.

      Do not jump a question that Nobody asked you, second Why you angry Are you guilty? There is no contradiction in the Qur’an about changes in the words of Allah. we are 1.6 billion we believe only one quran...
      if the "Torah" was truly written by a single author (Moses pbuh) in a certain time frame (1505 - 1465 BCE), the Torah would not contradict itself in its laws
      but there are thousands of variations that exist between the different versions. Most are minor variations such as the spelling of words, grammatical constructions and discrepancies in numbers. examples: by comparing the Septuagint Torah (LXX), Masoretic Torah (MT) and Samaritan Torah (ST):
      Genesis 5:31
      LXX: All the days of Lamech were 753 years…
      MT: All the days of Lamech were 777 years…
      ST: All the days of Lamech were 653 years…
      the different versions of the Torah .
      Then He said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.” At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God. [Exodus 3:6]
      God said to Moses, “I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’” [Exodus 3:14]
      Another example, here the death of prophet Moses ''pbuh'' happens before the book of Deuteronomy ends:
      Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died, yet his eyes were not weak nor his strength gone. [Deuteronomy 34:7]
      Since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face. [Deuteronomy 34:10]
      Here, there is the statement that Moses is the most humble person on earth:
      Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth. [Numbers 12:3]
      Now, this would be a very odd statement indeed if Moses himself were its author, as it would mean he was boasting about his own humility ?? and more, more, contradictions...

    According to the Zohar the last 8 passages in Deuteronomy were written by him! Moshe wrote them in tears.
    From the Talmud itself:
    "Rabbi Shimon said to him: "Can the scroll of the law be short of one word? ... No; what we must say is that up to this point the Holy One, blessed be He, dictated and Moses repeated and wrote, and from this point God dictated and Moses wrote with tears." (Baba Bathra 15a)"

    • @cyclea6183
      @cyclea6183 7 років тому

      My response to the illegitimacy of the Mosaic authorship of Leviticus would be to try to take Leviticus out of the rest of scripture. It would be impossible.
      Zechariah 14: 16-17 "16 Finally, everyone remaining from all the nations that came to attack Yerushalayim will go up every year to worship the king, Adonai-Tzva’ot, and to keep the festival of Sukkot. 17 If any of the families of the earth does not go up to Yerushalayim to worship the king, Adonai-Tzva’ot, no rain will fall on them."
      Leviticus 23 instituted the festival of booths. Do you believe Leviticus to not be written by the hand of YHWH and should altogether be disregarded? That would bring the entire Tanach to it's knees...
      I am fully aware of the coarseness of halachic rulings to 21st century sentiments. I would carefully read through the Rambam's Mishneh Torah section on Sotah which addresses the decree of drinking the bitter water for suspected adultery. I ask the hand of God to guide me when reading Halacha because that is where as a ger who cares deeply about Torah and the World To Come I feel like I DO have a "new" distinction to be made. www.chabad.org/library/article_cdo/aid/960637/jewish/Sotah.htm

      @zackmano 3 роки тому

      I happen to have a lot of experience in this area, and I see you asked this 2 years ago but hopefully you see this.
      Yes. Absolutely. The original pronunciation of a "Vav"/"ו" is like the English "W". 100%.
      If you want proof of that, read the Jewish Mefarshim like the Ibn Ezra and many others who make this clear.
      I've studied this all my life. I pray with these pronunciations. It means a lot to me. If you really want to understand the details you have to put in a lot of time. Begin with Yemenite Jewish pronunciation and go from there. They are the closest surviving version of proper Hebrew pronunciation.
      (Rabbi Singer understands this as well and has said as much in other videos. Look into it more and you will find the details. Essentially if you combine Yemenite and Egyptian Jewish pronunciations of Hebrew, that is the most accurate to the pronunciation in the Second Temple period, post Babylonian Exile. Prior to that is more complicated and I won't get into that here, but hopefully that helps point you in the right direction. 🙏👍)

    It is not necessary to rely on any oral torah to figure the vowel points that go in the text. All that is necessary is to know Hebrew. The traditional vowels are the opinions of men. Granted they are usually good opinions based on good evidence (usually). But these opinions are still subject to correction if they should be proved wrong. They are not authoritative in the sense that they have been handed down from Mt. Sinai as is the consonant text. For example Rashi disagreed with the Masoretic reading of Gen. 1:1. So also anyone who knows enough can suggest variant vowel pointing in other texts if sufficient evidence exists to show it more likely. The theory that Judaism is right because Judaism has the authority is circular reasoning. No one but God has the authority and Jews have produced plenty of sects that disagree. Insisting on the authority argument only keeps one in one's own sect from looking outside to see if anyone has thought of something useful.

      The Talmud is ABSOLUTELY necessary to understand the ETERNAL Hebrew scriptures!!
      When God told us to "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.", well, HOW exactly do we do that? When does it start? When does it end?! Which activities are permitted on that day, and which are forbidden? Which foods are required for that day? Same for the other holy days. The answers to these questions do NOT appear in Tanach (the Hebrew Bible), but they DO appear in the Talmud! The ENTIRETY of the Hebrew scriptures (INCLUDING the Talmud!) were given to Moses at Mt. Sinai.
      PLEASE do some ACTUAL HONEST research on this subject, and learn from the Orthodox Rabbis, as commanded by God in Deut. 17:8-11. In the absence of the Temple, the Rabbis are our spiritual teachers, since they (and ONLY THEY!!) have been studying the original Hebrew scriptures all the way back to Mt. Sinai - something Christianity REFUSED to do, leaving them in profound darkness as to what God ACTUALLY said to us there.

    • @ToviaSinger1
      @ToviaSinger1  7 років тому +12

      Great question! The Jewish sages instituted precautionary decrees as a safeguard to protect Jews from transgressing Torah laws. In fact, the sages encourage everyone to build personal fences where they know that they are weak.
      Maimonides explains that these “fences” refer to the precautionary decrees that our sages instituted as a safeguard to protect us from transgressing the Torah laws. Maimonides quotes from the Talmud (Yevamos 21a) that these rabbinic safeguards are alluded to in the Torah itself. In the portion that deals with immorality and intimate relationships, Scripture states:
      And you shall guard My guard in order not to perform any of the abominable customs that were done before you and not contaminate yourselves. (Leviticus 18:30)
      Our sages teach that there must be a clear distinction between God’s command and man’s “protective fence” around it. When the Torah instructs that we may neither add to nor subtract from the commandments, it means that the rabbis may not say that God gave us in the Torah 613 commandments and we add another few commandments. The sages, however, do have the authority to add rabbinic commandments as long as they are clearly defined as such.
      In other words, I am permitted to say that “I will not visit Las Vegas because the temptations in that city may lead me to sin.” That is a permissible fence. It is forbidden, however, for me to say that visiting Las Vegas is prohibited in the Torah.

    It seems to me we'd have to take the word of rabbis who finally decided on an official niqqud a thousand years after the destruction of the second temple (as prophesied by Jesus) and the diaspora. Considering that the oral tradition varied so greatly from sect to sect ( to wit, the Pharisees, Sadducees, Essenes, etc) and the rabbinical version of the oral tradition can't really be verified until the 14th century, it seems to me the Septuagint, whose Greek translations have been found among the Essene Dead Sea Scrolls (written in Paleo-Hebrew script, Koine Greek, Square-Script, Aramaic, and even what is being called "Qumran-Hebrew". Some of the scrolls also use "plene" spelling to indicate vowels, not the Medieval Nikkud system) and were considered to be equal to the Hebrew texts by Philo and Josephus, could be considered far more faithful translations than what Medieval Rabbis have offered us with their post-temple, post-sacrifice, Judaism re-imagined, "oral tradition" and revised "Canon".

    Nowhere in the Tanach does it say that the points were given by Moshe. It's all made up by men (rabbis) specifically designed to change the name of יהוה. The different meanings are based on the context of the sentence and not by the points.

    Read without distinct:
    " Then Zipporah took a sharp stone and cut off the foreskin of her son and cast it at Moses' feet and said, Surely you are a husband of blood to me!' Then the Lord said to Moses, ' Go in to the Pharoh and tell him, " thus says the LORD God of the Hebrews".
    (( Beware NKJV. They shall not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against Me. It will surely be a snare to you.)) For then Moses returned to the LORD and said, " Oh, these people have committed a great sin AND have made for themselves a god of gold ".😂😂😂
    So Messora translate according to the tenor of these words... and if a person sins in hearing the utterance of an oath, and it is a witness- whether he has seen or known of the matter - he bears guilt : the book of Isaiah !
