    I have a dent on the outside of my door that I was hoping to hammer out by taking off the plastic panel. Would taking off the plastic panel allow me to hammer out the dent from the inside? Thanks!

      Alex K It’s possible, depending on where the dent is. Just be careful when hammering it out because you might actually chip off your paint and then down the road it will start to rust out. Good luck!

      Che Fonzy thanks. Appreciate your reply. I have to re-paint the panel anyways so I’m not too worried. Hoping it’ll work.

    Probably a bit late, but did you ever figure out what was wrong with it? I believe mine is starting to do the same thing as the lock is a lot stiffer than any of the others so the central locking has trouble locking/unlocking the door 🤷‍♂️

      Darren Lawlor if I remember right, the reason it wasn’t locking is because the locking metal bar came apart from a plastic clip. You might just have to dig into it and it just might be the same scenario when the clip is about to fail, which is an easy fix. Good luck buddy and good question!

      Che Fonzy cheers mate, I’ll give a go at getting the window winder handle off tomorrow for a third time 🙄 it definitely feels as though the problem is in the plastic lock button or in the linkages.

      Darren Lawlor If you get a chance, let me know how it goes. Then we can possibly help someone else with the same issue. Good luck with it all!

      Che Fonzy well, it only took 4 months but I finally got the window winder off 😂 the locking clip is very difficult to reach being buried so deep in the door. The plastic clip was intact, and I could hear the central locking motor when I turned the key in the door, so I believe a plastic gear to be stripped within the actuator 😐 no simple fix for me I’m afraid

      Darren Lawlor I guess we can’t get lucky all the time like i did on my fix. Thanks for the update and i hope you’ve been able to get it taken care of.

    Thanks for the how to... adding to this, I had a broken return spring for the outside handle on my echo. Once the inside is exposed it was an easy fix. Have a look at this link www.fixya.com/cars/t927479-toyota_echo_rear_door_handle_problem . The chap called Steve fixed his with a zip tie as did I. Picture on the site. I didn't have to remove the handle from the car. Quite lucky really. Thanks for showing me how to get into the door without breaking the window winder.

    Is it hard to put the door arm back in? Does it just pop back into place?

    • @chefonzy1
      @chefonzy1  4 роки тому

      Alex K If you align it correctly, it should pop right back into place fairly easy. Don’t force it or you risk breaking the clips. Just give it some light taps and you should be golden.

      I think I actually misread your message. What is the door arm?

    • @MrBeachwaves
      @MrBeachwaves 4 роки тому

      Che Fonzy thanks for your response. Sorry, I might not have been clear. I was referring to the window crank (the piece you rotate to open and close your window).

      Oh, gotcha. That metal clip should slide up and then pop right into place if you align all the teeth on the handle correctly with all the teeth on the door.
