glad to see their shells are looking much smoother as they get older. they must be getting the proper humidity and diet. they're starting to look like dinosaurs
The homesafaries are always the highlight to start off my day! Tortoisekeepers are so lovely, and the tortoises are such personalities! I love seeing them munch and climb! Thanks!
I'm sure they all get fed very well. In the video, feeling sorry for Bruno because Knobby was getting a heck of a lot more food! Beautiful animals, lots of great information. I didn't know they would like neck scratches - wow! I've been watching Galapagos Island documentaries since I was a kid (that's a long time). My favorite animal has always been the tortoises. This video is a real treat for me. Thank you so much for sharing it!
I love watching tortoises eat lol! These babies are so adorable and have so much personality! Looks like you have a climber too! My Russian loves to climb, wedge himself into weird places, and relocate things around the house. Both my cats and the dog have adopted him as their baby. They bring him blankets and pillows completely on their own. We have not trained them to do this. I think our tortoise is blackmailing the carnivores. Watching you guys feed and wash these big tortoises reminds me of the chaos in my house. And you talk to them the same way I talk to mine. Like talking to small children.
Thanks so much Cincy Staff.. I love your home series for all of us shut in our homes. My first pets 3 red slider turtles when I was 13 back in 1959. And the first time I actually saw a Galapagos tortoise was in 1980 at the San Diego Zoo and I got pet them so that was a great experience.
Best thing about the CCP VIRUS is being able to learn about such cool animals, thank you Cincinnati Zoo. Anything with a mouth can bite is the best advice ever honestly
Thanks for the video! I love watching videos on tortoises. These remind me a lot of the Sulcata, especially in size and their faces look the same too. Hard to believe that about a half year ago I didn't know anything about tortoises and now I know the names of several different species.
My understanding is that their shells are supposed to be dome as you just described. They are not supposed to have the knots or points in their shell. It’s due to something lacking in the diet. That’s what other reptile and a couple of vets have said. Just passing the information along. Love turtles. Thank you for all the virtual videos.
I have watched all of the home safari videos and they have all been so entertaining and informative. But this one, omg, when that tortoise bit that bucket to get the food and then gave the keeper a look of excuse you, I just fell out laughing
Off topic a bit but Best Wishes to everyone and much sympathy over the passing of Samantha the Gorilla. She once waved to me when I whistled at her. She was quite a lady, and will be missed.

Thank you Cincinnati Zoo and staff, when you can't get to🐢 the zoo with the kids sheltering in, you've provided it at home!

Oh god I just watched this again. I think it’s hilarious! “I want scrub too! Move or I step on your head!” “You can’t eat the sponge.”

I definitely agree, but vets arent educated in animal care, rather the medical side. Just wanted ti warn people to do their own research.
