  • You can get the Mockmill here: amzn.to/29CqUex I was sent this new mill to evaluate. I am not an affiliate for Mockmill. HOWEVER... I LOVE IT! It is made with great quality workmanship, assembles easily and grinds grain wonderfully! I am really impressed. If you are in the market for a flour mill that attaches to your Kichenaid, you will want to consider this mill.amzn.to/29C88zD

    The dots are truly just a guide - you can select a finer flour setting by going beyond the finest dot. I would recommend starting at a setting where the stones do not touch, begin grinding, and then turning the dial all the way clockwise. The grain passing through the stones will keep them from touching as the adjustment mechanism is using spring pressure. Works this way very well on my unit. I started doing this after talking to a Mockmill representative on the phone a month ago.

    Great video! Thank you for posting. Quick question, would the coarsest setting be good enough to crack grain? I am trying to find a machine versatile enough for beer making and making fine flour.

    Nice looking mill. Do you grind all your flour when baking bread? Here in Hawai'i, I find it hard to store flour for long, unless kept in the fridge. That takes up lot of room.

    • @NorthwestSourdough
      @NorthwestSourdough  8 років тому +4

      I grind my whole grains. You can store them much easier than flour and the whole berries last a lot longer.

      The benefit of the Mockmill (or any home mill, though I recommend Mockmill) is that you can grind only the amount of seeds that you need and not have to store flower.

    Can this mill produce a very fine flour,just like mockmill 100 or 200?
    I need very fine flour for gluten free bread and was looking into mockmill brand or komo.
    Thank you.

    Still using.m? Just bought a kitchenaide and looking at the Mockmill attachment. Although the Mockmill 100 is not much more. Will the attachment version grind as fine as the 100?

    • @NorthwestSourdough
      @NorthwestSourdough  3 роки тому

      Not in my opinion. The Mockmill 100 and 200 are superior for making finely ground flour.

    Hi Ms. Greenway, I received the Mockmill attachment for Kitchenaid as a gift and I just tried assembling it and running it (without grinding anything). The runoff-plate doesn't fit. It seems to be too loose. Has anyone else had this problem? Should I squeeze it to make it tighter?

    • @NorthwestSourdough
      @NorthwestSourdough  6 років тому

      Yea, I would try squeezing it slightly to see if it fits better. Otherwise contact Mockmill and see what they suggest.

    I know semolina is a coarse grind. Other than pasta what are the different uses for different grinds?

    • @NorthwestSourdough
      @NorthwestSourdough  8 років тому +2

      You can make coarse grind flour to add to your breads for texture, you can use very coarse for using on your peel. There are lots of different reasons to use different grain settings, it's up to the baker's imagination.

    • @mavery81230
      @mavery81230 7 років тому +2

      I'd be very surprised if a blender could beat a purpose designed tool at its task. The Vitamix probably would produce flour similar to that from a micronizer mill, which is to say not the best flour.

    • @michaelnoeldner3279
      @michaelnoeldner3279 5 років тому +2

      You have to watch using your Vitamix because it could heat your flour too much.

    • @roundtheworld2737
      @roundtheworld2737 3 роки тому

      @@michaelnoeldner3279 Yes, high heat will oxidize the flour.

      @@roundtheworld2737 Vitamix does a good job. The flour turns out warm but not hot after 60 seconds of grinding. The Mockmill does grind it finer. The Mockmill 100 may grind the flour just a little finer, and faster in my opinion. I really like the attachment and it gives my Kitchenaid one more thing to do☺
