we manage a win in the end with post game engine review saying we played 83% v 72% accuracy and part way through we created a chance to win a free piece and then didn't take it, which was our only blunder of the game.

Sometimes I leave the game to go on youtube when I'm listening to something or answer a message while waiting for my opponent to play his move. But I guess you can tell that I'm not using an engine by the way I play 😂😂

yes we have had a few recently and each game needs to be looked at on its own merits. some activity could be suspicous or could be a perfectly good explanation for it. if you are doing nothing wrong and not switching tabs to consult an engine you should have nothing to fear - but each time someone is tab switching, it leaves a record which lichess can then check post game and for example - common sense - they can check suggested engine moves at those times and compare to what was actually played. don't know if you have seen the video where Thibault gives a very brief insight into cheat detection, he created and runs lichess, this is him talking, many years ago now, systems will improve over time - the relevant secion should be time stamped and only about 3-min long - ua-cam.com/video/LZgyVadkgmI/v-deo.html -
as players all we can do is review matters after a game, try to be objective, if we think opponent is using unfair play, then report it and it is then up to lichess and their mods to review matters with all the data and whatever methods they have and for them to determine fair play - which they will normally deal with confidentially between themselves and the account.

Paul you do a great job working out your moves and possibilities trying to find best play. It's hard to know what your opponent is up to, but you usually predict the most logical moves. Nice win!

Even if someone’s using an engine, you should focus and play your best game. However whenever your opponent leaves the game, you immediately start making blunders.

indeed, often easier said than done though.
