- Featured is the final round game between 10-year-old Argentine chess prodigy Faustino Oro and Grandmaster Georg Meier from the Americas Continental Chess Championship 2024. The opening is a French Defense, Advance Variation, where Oro first accumulates positional pluses on Meier's kingside and then follows with a sacrifice that grants Oro's major pieces access to the black king. In this event, Oro secured his second International Master norm and gained 48 rating points. He is now only one International Master norm and one rating point away from breaking Abhimanyu Mishra's record for youngest International Master ever. Faustino Oro was born on October 14, 2013.

How can a grandmaster play so awful
@@ericalover3025 After Jerry's clear and concise analysis it may look that the grandmaster played awful. Georg Meier however is a very strong player. Both played really well in this game. Faustino Oro was just the better player in this game. It shows Faustino his talent and potential to become a grandmaster in the future. Best of luck to him :)
@@ericalover3025 Meier made ONE mistake and had 92% accuracy. Not what I would call awful.
Ohhh you even translated your kind words to Spanish, you are so sweet.
Go far young Faustino, sky is no limit
When I was 10...
These young generations are just incredible.
Faustino has the playing maturity of someone who has been 10 years GM.
Lol
Grande Faustino!!!
Crazy Precision by Faustino. Not to mention that Georg Meier is a big Expert in the french.
What an amazing player this young boy is. Thanks for sharing this game. Great commentary.
As others have pointed out this is mature play. A bright future in chess comes not just from India and Uzbekistan. Thanks Jerry.
This little guy Will be so awesome, I look forward to follow him.
We might be seeing the next Capabalanca, a latino champion here!
F4 what a sensational move. The lucidity to maintain tension & be pro-active. Out of this world. Faustino positional vision reminds you of a young Fischer. Thank you Jerry. Brilliant analysis !!
Thank you Jerry for sharing this game. I'm really proud to have a compatriot with such a high-end talent for chess.
¡Grande Faustino, para delante a conseguir el título de MI!
What a player Faustino is, he totally outplayed a GM, hope he continues this way and became the most young IM and GM ever and (maybe) one day the most WCC ever.
the only game I was really good at when I was 10 years old was NBA Jam, respect to the young chess master!
Faustino is on fire!!!
Greetings from Uruguay, love your work Jerry
Big congratulations to Faustino for all his great achievements!
¡Muchas felicitaciones para Faustino por todos sus grandes logros!
Thank you 👍
@@ChessNetworkOro vs Tornero Villa IM Barcelona 2024, inmortal match reconmendation! Thanks
10 years old with 98% accuracy? Kramnik would have some words about this.
You played amazing Faustino! Keep up the good work! 😃
The position at 9:28 looks like it's from a Leela Chess Zero game, has the classic e5 pawn but also h5 pawn restricting the black kingside. Very impressive play from Faustino.
Rook c7, so classy at the end there.
Is that early middlegame sequence with Queen b6 - Knight a5, etc. a known line in the Advance French? There are so many small ways to go wrong for white.
Amazing game! 🏆
Players: 10-year-old Argentine prodigy Faso Oro (FM, 2351) vs. GM Georg Meier (2607).
Event: America's Continental Chess Championship 2024.
Highlights:
Opening: Advanced French Defense, with an impactful E5 pawn.
Strategy: Meier missed using the F pawn actively. Faso built up a strong king-side position.
Tactics: Knight sacrifice on F6 opened Black's king side for a winning attack.
Endgame: Faso secured a pawn advantage and a safer king, forcing Meier to resign.
Faso Oro is now one step closer to becoming the youngest International Master ever! 🌟♟🔥
Hope you enjoyed the breakdown! 😊
F-A-U-S-T-I-N-O ok?
I'll just call him .... Stockfaust?
Thanks you i really enjoyed the video and I liked the explanations
👍😎
Awesome! I learned a lot with this game, thanks for sharing
Thanks for the game review, Jerry. Regards from Argentina 🇦🇷😎
You’re welcome, and thank you for watching. 👍
Future WC contender easily
Stunning game by the 10 year old! Thanks!
He sure will be the next Magnus.
Great coverage Jerry.
I think 3.e5 is the acid test of the French Defence, rather than 3.Nc3.
One question - at 14:45 instead of playing g3 or f4 to block the check, isn't 37.Rg3 just crushing? It seems that White will pick up g6 in the next couple of moves, probably with check and potentially forking the rook on b1. Am I missing something that makes 37.f4 a better move?
Keep the great videos coming, my man! Looking forward to your coverage of the coming world championship match!
Wise beyond his years.
this boy got some great intuition
thanks Jerry. Wow that's a young man to watch. Was wondering about the move Rg3 instead of F4 but as it played out, that's just a perfect square for that pawn to interfere with the attack. Thanks for the great video.
Jerry the type of guy you want to give a hug
Bien hecho Faustino!
super tactically useful game to study. never realized the full simplicity of winning pawns by taking with a discovered attack on a hanging piece, or just removing the defender
nice game !!
Crei que era bueno en rapid time formats pero esta partida me dejo boquiabierto tremendo
Very very interesting! Might be time for the procedure
"gained 48 points this tournament"
Junior k factor putting in work there.
Let's go Faustino! You're a prodigy!
I smell a future World Champion :)
Don't do it! Chess a long and sad history of child prodigies who never made it. I consider it bad luck to invoke this prediction at least until the kid makes it in to Candidates or something. Like okay yeah you can go predicting Gukesh for youngest world champ or whatever now.
I smell a future world champion²
I smell a future world champiom since Faustino was 7 yo lmao
Thanks Jerry!
On move 36 queen to D6+, white can also play RG3, cover the king and attacking the pawn on G7. What do you think?
Yeah I was wondering the same
The end position is actually a mate in 15, if you let it run for a few mintues with Stockfish
The starting position is most probably a mate in < ~100 if you dont let players use stockfish ;)
@@TymexComputing Using Stockfish is fine if it's for analysis. The first move is probably never going to be solved.
Thank you good voice abc good instruction. No solly columnists. ❤️🙏🐛✝️🦋🕊️🎶♾️
VAMOS FAUSTIIII
Well played, Faustino
Thanks 👍
another argentinian wonderkid (:
Is Hieveryone Jerry?
Preciso
7:29 how if Qxf6 , if g5 then Qg6

One question. Why the early BD7 by black as opposed to the more traditional attacking QB6? BD7 seems to accomplish nothing.... a waste of tempo instead of attacking. I've never even seen that move in the French.
...Bd7 helps Black pile on to d4 (since a Bd3-b5 by White would not come with check and thereby attack whatever piece Black has on the d4 square). Standard move in what must be old theory; White can play the Milner-Barry gambit if he likes just giving Black the d4 pawn. Dangerous at club level but I don't think it's a weapon at higher levels. In any case Black rarely has particularly good options with his LSB
White can play Bd3 and the smith morrow gambit
Good job - i hope Vladimir wont be commenting :D - never give up!
So many strong young players these days, but only a handful of them will reach 2700
On the 36th move of queen to D6+;
Nice game
Hi Jerry
Faustino is going to be world champion before he is 18
★★★★★★★★
A+ 😎
Day 8 of asking Jerry to cover the Sack of Rome game by Sofia Polgar
at that time , that was the highest tournament performance rating achieved..
2900 ++.
I've said once and I'll say it again: when I was 10 I had not even finished "discovering my whole body" yet. This kid is absurdly young to be playing this precise.
We want to see your face one day
Why ?
Do we? I think I'm good, based on his voice I'm pretty sure Jerry is obese
@@abee127 Jerry is a beast!
@@abee127how can you deduce that from his voice 😂
I couldn’t care less…unless jerry showed himself to be a woman all along using voice changing technology or something…now that would be interesting
I call my boy Kramnick to go after this kid!
You will spend an eternity with your friend Kramnik.. in hell

I will calm everyone's tits right here right now, this guy isn't just beating strong players, HE CONSTANTLY OUTPLAYS THE TOP 30 ON CLASSICAL CHESS IN TITLED TUESDAY, EVERY SINGLE TIME, FINISHING AHEAD OF MAGNUS, NEPO, FABI, MVL, OF COURSE NOT AHEAD OF JOSPEM. THIS YOUNG PLAYER HAS BEEN ACCUSED OF CHEATING BY THE TOP 30 CLASSICAL. HE IS NOT STRONG HE IS CHEATING. ONLY WHEN HE WILL BE REPLICATING THE SAME RESULT IN BLITZ WCH HE WILL BE TRUSTED. AT THE MOMENT STOP PRAISING AN ENGINE USER.
Unhinged take by you here. Take a breath and sort yourself out instead of going around talking shit about children doing well in a sport.
Calm down, Vladimir!
You sound like Vladimir Kramnik, who has lost his mind, too!
