Adding on to what you said about alhaitham and kaveh bickering, I think it's also cool we can see how their relationship changes and progresses through out the year(s). From ending of Sumeru act V, to Kaveh hangout, parade of providence, cyno 2, summer event 2024 side quest... reminds me of Xiao and how we can see him and traveler getting closer through out each year's lantern rite. It makes the characters in tevyat feel alive, I love it.
1:01:06 this was released after the parade of providence event which is why they are not bickering anymore, before that every time we saw them bickering was because of kaveh instigating (because he was going through the emotional problems that was dealt with in the event) and alhaitham was just playing along with it. so after kaveh dealt with his emotional problems, it seems like he is much calmer than how we met him before.

i feel that because neither cyno or sethos are overtly emotional, many people miss the suffering and horrid childhood these two had, perhaps moreso cyno, since sethos actually had a family meanwhile cyno's sold him off (which is already such a tragic start). they were just kids, experimented on, dehumanised and suffered a great deal at the hands of the experiment, both before, during and after it was successful. they were raised and trained as the keepers of the fragments, had the years of their youth, their autonomy and agency over their own bodies, taken from them. cyno had no one in the temple, outside of possibly sethos himself, to rely on or find support or encouragement in. we see that even now, as adults, they are viewed by the temple more as tools rather than as individual people, which is why cyno had to learn to find value in himself outside of his hermanubis power and why he was so supportive and understanding of sethos going on this same journey of growth. even whatever facisimile of a homely environment cyno had at the temple, his culture and his roots, were taken from him later on as cyrus took him to the city - to save him, yes, but nonetheless cyno was moved to a place where he had nothing and no one, where everything was unknown and different and the people weren't welcoming to folks of the desert. he had no roots or family, and while cyrus was as present as might have been possible, it must have been such an alienating and difficult experience to not only stick out as an orphaned kid from the desert in the city, but also as a kid with this unique power within you that you don't really understand and that nobody else around you seems to have. did he feel the need to hide it from others for fear of being seen as dangerous or as simply strange? i wish we could know more about cyno's early years in sumeru, but i feel that they have gone as deep as they intended to with his character and speculation is as good as it's gonna get. while he's not an emotinal guy, i did love alejandro's line delivery when saying "Professor? Anything to say?" (2:08:02) because we hear that he's shaken by the information, there's a quiver to his voice and an underlying of hurt to his tone, almost accusatory. amazing. i think this experience and suffering that cyno endured by carrying the power of a god within him as a child is what also helped solidify his bond with collei and what makes him take on an almost parental, or simply guardian, role in her life. anyway, i loved watching your playthrough as always! (ive been here since ep. 1 lol) and apologies for the mini essay, i'm autistic and have been hyperfixated on cyno for a year now

Then, the camera gave to Cyno, when he said that a poor couple sold a little kid in exchange for some small fortune. So Cyno was just a bought test subject by the temple of silence.
There's three Cyruses for some reason. One is the head of the Mondstadt Adventurer's guild(big guy with a monocle). The second is a sumpter beast in Jeht's quest, and the third is Cyno and Lisa's teacher.
Watching this after doing Natlan quests reinforces how brilliant Sumeru character writing is compared to Natlan. Thanks for doing all these quests and Happy New Year.
2:53:51 Fun fact: Usually, if playable characters fight in cut scenes, they usually use their signatures (if the character is already released when the cut scene happens) or some of 4* weapons if the character isn't released yet. Sethos, however, doesn't do either of these. Not only he's not using a bow (kinda understandable why) although he's released as a bow character, the polearm he's using in that cut scene isn't even in the game.
I would like to point out that there are exactly 3 tents. We know that traveler and Paimon share a tent, but then I'd like to think there's one for Collei herself, and one for Cyno and Tighnari
I don't know if anyone told you yet, but you should keep Nahida in your party if you're doing quests in Sumeru. There's always hidden dialogue lines in the minds of people involved.

i don't know if you do reactions to shows/watch them on your own time, but the english voice actor for sethos with the silky voice does voice work for a very beloved character from an animated show called the owl house, which i'm sure you'll enjoy based on roamer reacts and your let's plays! i definitely recommend it if you're looking for something to watch :)
i noticed you use the default namecard in your genshin profile, i’m not sure if you know/care at all to change it but there are some pretty cool ones you can unlock thru different means (like character friendship level, achievements, etc) if you want to customize your profile further. each character has their own namecard and some are beautiful! you may have already unlocked some :~)

If you read Cyrus’ thoughts with Nahida while he’s saying to Tighnari’s master that he’ll repay him by working for three months in the Akademya, he’s actually thinking “If Naphis thinks he’s getting a single day of free labor from me, he’s got another thing coming!” and I just think it was hilarious lol Also this quest is in my top three, the story is amazing but also I just love Sumeru’s cast so much ahah. Every region has amazing characters of course, but their chemistry in Sumeru is my favorite, like you said they really feel like a big found family and every time I see them together it makes me so happy!
This is probably my all-time favorite Story Quest! I loved how they incorporated so many characters into this, while also introducing new relevant characters like Sethos, Cyrus, and Naphis, and still keeping a great focus on Cyno! The relationships between Sumeru characters are always great to see, the Temple of Silence was such a cool location to be in, the fights and cutscenes at the end were so good, and we got a bunch of lore, not only about Cyno, but Sumeru in general! I wonder why they didn't consider this an Interlude... It's just as grand and impactful as Shenhe's, Xiao's, and Wanderer's Interludes in my opinion!
Temple of silence and its connection with cyno was teased during early sumeru patches and we have been waiting and waiting and then after fontaine in 4.6, hoyo said yeah and here's temple of silence as well.
I remember when everyone in the community kept wondering why Cyno’s affiliation in his profile was “Temple of Silence” instead of “Sumeru Akademya”. Waiting like a year and a half for answers is a long time, but it did pay off in the end ahah

i swear these story quests have been getting the length of an act of an archon quest and the quality is similar as well and they expand on lore as well. i wonder if we should start counting them as main story now instead of side stories.
Reinforcing yet again why Sumeru feels like home. Everyone welcomes you and there's always a development between the characters that they're excited to let you know (whether through dialogue or by hints for you to discover)! It's like coming home to a family! Plus, there's something so touching hearing Traveler say "This is nice. No agenda, just relax and enjoy myself." because he's witnessed and dealt so much, that this must be a rare instance for him. We honestly rarely get to hear his thoughts like that, and I hope he gets more in the future!
Cyrus: "if this were my son, oh, he'd get the scolding of a lifetime!" Cyno: "luckily, i'm also an extremely principled person." Cyno just casually confirming that yes Cyrus is basically his dad. not enough ppl notice/pay attention to this and it makes me so sad. also they way Cyrus basically told him like hey yur bf/hubby and daughter are in town rn right? why not invite them to dinner with us?

THIS QUEST IS SO GOOD my only nitpick is why does cyno call his dad professor, he adopted him before he even was enrolled in the akademia so it doesnt make sense to me, and a lot of people figured out he was his dad through hints in this quest and thats it, genshin wants u to remember that they mentioned cyrus was cynos dad like years ago when the sumeru arc happened but a lot of people dont, i feel like u would have been less wary of cyrus if u knew thats literally cynos dad lmao
yeah i have the same feelings about this as you. it feels so special meeting Cyrus and seeing them interact when you have that extra information about him basically being Cyno's dad.
I just wish cyno still let sethos keep his power so he kept his claw to. But then sethos wouldnt be a four star i guess :(cyno was powerfull enough without sethos powers i think to not need his to. Sethos had it his whole life
honestly it seemed like sethos himself didn't really want it anymore. perhaps he felt chained down by it, burdened by something he never asked to have and that shouldered him with great responsibility while also taking away the worth of his own person in the eyes of others and rendered him more so of a tool, as was the case with cyno. it's just my view but i think he's happier being able to be only himself, with his own learned strength and natural powers! perhaps he feels as though a weight has been lifted
This isn't a huge deal, but the way you're talking about this as just "Cyno's Story Quest", it feels like you might not be remembering that he already had a Story Quest, and this is his second one?

2:53:51 Fun fact: Usually, if playable characters fight in cut scenes, they usually use their signatures (if the character is already released when the cut scene happens) or some of 4* weapons if the character isn't released yet. Sethos, however, doesn't do either of these. Not only he's not using a bow (kinda understandable why) although he's released as a bow character, the polearm he's using in that cut scene isn't even in the game.
I would like to point out that there are exactly 3 tents. We know that traveler and Paimon share a tent, but then I'd like to think there's one for Collei herself, and one for Cyno and Tighnari
I don't know if anyone told you yet, but you should keep Nahida in your party if you're doing quests in Sumeru. There's always hidden dialogue lines in the minds of people involved.

i don't know if you do reactions to shows/watch them on your own time, but the english voice actor for sethos with the silky voice does voice work for a very beloved character from an animated show called the owl house, which i'm sure you'll enjoy based on roamer reacts and your let's plays! i definitely recommend it if you're looking for something to watch :)
i noticed you use the default namecard in your genshin profile, i’m not sure if you know/care at all to change it but there are some pretty cool ones you can unlock thru different means (like character friendship level, achievements, etc) if you want to customize your profile further. each character has their own namecard and some are beautiful! you may have already unlocked some :~)
"there is a lot of Cyrus in this game" the reality there are literally 2 Characters named Cyrus in whole of Teyvat , that was funny to me for some reason 😂💔

If you read Cyrus’ thoughts with Nahida while he’s saying to Tighnari’s master that he’ll repay him by working for three months in the Akademya, he’s actually thinking “If Naphis thinks he’s getting a single day of free labor from me, he’s got another thing coming!” and I just think it was hilarious lol
Also this quest is in my top three, the story is amazing but also I just love Sumeru’s cast so much ahah. Every region has amazing characters of course, but their chemistry in Sumeru is my favorite, like you said they really feel like a big found family and every time I see them together it makes me so happy!
This is probably my all-time favorite Story Quest! I loved how they incorporated so many characters into this, while also introducing new relevant characters like Sethos, Cyrus, and Naphis, and still keeping a great focus on Cyno! The relationships between Sumeru characters are always great to see, the Temple of Silence was such a cool location to be in, the fights and cutscenes at the end were so good, and we got a bunch of lore, not only about Cyno, but Sumeru in general!
I wonder why they didn't consider this an Interlude... It's just as grand and impactful as Shenhe's, Xiao's, and Wanderer's Interludes in my opinion!

Temple of silence and its connection with cyno was teased during early sumeru patches and we have been waiting and waiting and then after fontaine in 4.6, hoyo said yeah and here's temple of silence as well.
I remember when everyone in the community kept wondering why Cyno’s affiliation in his profile was “Temple of Silence” instead of “Sumeru Akademya”. Waiting like a year and a half for answers is a long time, but it did pay off in the end ahah

Cyno's Story Quest Act 2 was released in 4.6, while Sethos was in 4.7
Reinforcing yet again why Sumeru feels like home. Everyone welcomes you and there's always a development between the characters that they're excited to let you know (whether through dialogue or by hints for you to discover)! It's like coming home to a family! Plus, there's something so touching hearing Traveler say "This is nice. No agenda, just relax and enjoy myself." because he's witnessed and dealt so much, that this must be a rare instance for him. We honestly rarely get to hear his thoughts like that, and I hope he gets more in the future!

if there is a quest blocking you just use Focus mode they highlight it with blue every time you enter the quest log

THIS QUEST IS SO GOOD my only nitpick is why does cyno call his dad professor, he adopted him before he even was enrolled in the akademia so it doesnt make sense to me, and a lot of people figured out he was his dad through hints in this quest and thats it, genshin wants u to remember that they mentioned cyrus was cynos dad like years ago when the sumeru arc happened but a lot of people dont, i feel like u would have been less wary of cyrus if u knew thats literally cynos dad lmao
yeah i have the same feelings about this as you. it feels so special meeting Cyrus and seeing them interact when you have that extra information about him basically being Cyno's dad.
btw the entrance fades away and it looks like a cave if you stray a bit far from the gate in the desert

I just wish cyno still let sethos keep his power so he kept his claw to. But then sethos wouldnt be a four star i guess :(cyno was powerfull enough without sethos powers i think to not need his to. Sethos had it his whole life
honestly it seemed like sethos himself didn't really want it anymore. perhaps he felt chained down by it, burdened by something he never asked to have and that shouldered him with great responsibility while also taking away the worth of his own person in the eyes of others and rendered him more so of a tool, as was the case with cyno. it's just my view but i think he's happier being able to be only himself, with his own learned strength and natural powers! perhaps he feels as though a weight has been lifted
