Your analysis is exceptional dude. Your power of observation is mindboggling to me. I thought this was the best track on the album, and you just explained to me why :-) And lets be honest, any reaction starting with "G'day" is fun to watch! Keep up the good work and try not to loose your mind with 'Tribal'.
With this album I think we can say that Tuomas and Nightwish have created a new genre. I'd call it "Classical Metal" where the classics of literature, music, themes, and art are fused into a metal melange.
The complexity of this album, lyricwise, is mindblowing. Everything's connected and it's been fun and exciting trying to decipher everything. :D Your analysis didn't disappoint either, as I expected. :) Can't wait for your thoughts on Endlessness.
These songs are genious! But so are Your reactions! You open all hidden doors like a key master.. I’ve never seen any other reacting so honest with emotion and after that understanding the whole big picture! That is as amazing as is the music itself... I admire people who can use both sides of brain; emotion and knowledge... without losing enjoyment! Your reactions are not just ”reactions”.. more like tutorials with emotion! Can’t wait the next ”lesson”! :)
Tuomas Holopainen is certainly one of the greatest genii of all times. And your reactions are really deep and thoughtful. Thank you so much, keep rocking!
I love your reactions. Most on the time, big part on us just "feels" nightwish as a "heartmusic", but you remind us that nightwish is also astonishingly deep "brainmusic". For me, you bring another aspect to their music. Thank you for that, and keep on doing a good and unique work.
Youre killing it with the in-depth analysis of these songs! I loved this song already with the music, all the fantasy references in the lyrics (you got every single one of them including ones I hadn't picked up on!!)....everything! Then you came along and broke down every little detail in the video, very well done! :D Also great to see how happy you were listening to this! Love that youre getting so much enjoyment from these songs :)
Absolutely awesome reaction/comment, you really nailed the meaning and symbolism of this song. NW rules! I would give you double thumbs up if I could. Greetings from Finland, keep up the good work!
Pan, Music and Endlessness are my 3 favs off this album. I think that is solid now, order may change daily but they are the 3 I like to listen to the most. Harvest and Tribal complete my Top 5. Great album though. This song is the most traditional Nightwish of the album to me. Can't wait to here some of these live :D
You take your reactions to this album to places that I love! We’re going again! I’m the one right with you as we get off the ride and run right back to ride again! You have such depth in your analysis of the mind and heart of Nightwish. Thanks again for the ride! Stay safe. Hang on. The ride continues.
I am really enjoying your reactions to this album. You are so full of not just enthusiasm for how the song SOUNDS, but your knowledge of the books and lore surrounding it really bring it to life! Even the little treasures and gems you find in the visuals from just a lyric video are amazing to me! Stay safe and keep reacting Sunshine and I will keep watching and learning.
Man the playing with the "golden" chrod progression 1-5-6-4 is so nice with the stops. The whole album is riddled with beatiful short silences between notes. And I find the most beauty between the notes :)
Great reaction and analysis. I did same thing after heard first time...just hit repeat. I think anyone that has even a slight appreciation of good music can enjoy Nightwish but those who get into and understand the lyrics of these songs it catapults them into the stratosphere. This is probably my favorite off the album ...but all the others aren’t far behind. 🤘
"It is stories that built cathedrals". To make or build anything, first someone needs to imagine it. It's the power of imagination that allows us to change the world. And yes, the best thing you can do with this song is exactly what you did: listen to it over and over :)
So, tell me, you and Tuomas together, what's it like to have an IQ of 1000? Your reactions of this album are exceptional, just mind blowingly insightful. Thank you.
Thank you for putting so much effort into analysing all even the smallest details of the songs. It makes the music even more interesting and appreciated.
My apologies for not subscribing sooner. Always love your reactions. Can you believe there are people who think this is a sub-par Nightwish album??? It's laughable really. Love this song!
"PAN" is just an awesome song about the human imagination that we all need to survive this PANdemic without getting bored to death. According to Wikipedia,"Tír na nÓg" (Land of the Young) comes from Ireland's Celtic mythology. "Something Wicked This Way Comes" is also a novel by Ray Bradbury that was also filmed & produced by Walt Disney Productions, which makes sense as Tuomas is a fan of Disney. Many more parts of the lyrics have also been explained by various contributors here genius.com/19570039 P.S. I also agree with what the others have already said about your reaction, excluding any negative comments.
You are amazing 😮👍🩷🙏thank you SO MUCH for your enjoyable and very interesting reactions to Nightwish, they have been my number one reactions for three years by now. Take care, really hope you will react to the coming album 🌸👋🇫🇮
Yours is the first reaction to this song I've seen.....well done, as usual. It helps immensely that you are learned and well read enough to catch and share multiple references within......well done, indeed.
Can you image giving this guy (Tuomas) access to an entire symphony orchestra of his design for use in concerts? My God, the lines for tickets would repeatedly be sold out in minutes...hey, I can dream, can't I?
A great and smart analysis again. And, what you was talking about the pale blue dot in 18:50, is really close to the idea and lyrics of "Ad Astra". Please check this song. You'll realize how deeply connected is every song of the album. Is an instrumental song, but pretty beautiful and meaningfull too
This one will be great live. Very complex and complicated musical parts. This song is about the human imagination. You nailed it and had some great insights. Great job. Once there was a silent canvas Sleeping stories unimagined Birth of what if`s, hope and wonder Winds will be named, words will shelter Then, something wicked their way came Showed a way to the Great Escape Evoke the worlds, sparked the brain An ape in awe before a door - "of your mind imagination" A moment alone With unbeknown Reset the world Imagine home A primal need To touch the stars Only way there To enter
I really appreciate your reaction. Also, I start thinking this album is a bonus for people with some knowledge. Without these knowledges, it can be hard to really enjoy these songs.
Yes, I found the music of the new album to be OK to really nice but didn't catch even half of the references. That's what youtube channels like this are for I guess :)
You are killing me I have the CDs in my home but am waiting for you to finish all your reactions before i open the CD and start to play it . Your reactions always right on the money you see things in the music that i would miss on my first listening , so when you finish with album i can sit down and play it all and not be a confused old guy . Keep up the good work with your reactions and don't take to long to finish the album . P.S. How about a reaction to the whole Album with comment after each track .
Just watched a few Nightwish reactions tonight and everyone plays the songs a second time, what's happening 😂😂😂 Nightwish is happening I guess 😀 Great reaction man, love your analyzes and the attention you pay to the whole of the songs. I really appreciate that.
After watching Pan a few more times I had to change my way of looking at it because of one line. "It is stories that built cathedrals". Did they just put religious writing in the same category as fairy tales? I believe so. That puts a whole new spin on the lyrics. Is the ape at the door of the Cathedral? Standing in awe of it's beauty? The primal need, to touch the stars..only way there, to enter.
You are the first reactor I've seen who picked up the 2001 Space Odyssey reference. I guess it shows our age but it seemed so obvious. You are an extremely smart fellow and a joy to watch your approach to music.
Yes....this is WOW ! Good reaction cause you can pick the details all people do not know. That Genius in 19:50 must be Tuomas. You should go to Kitee and meet him there during KIMAF happening in July in case Corona is not stopping.
only took one just one yo and about 3-5 live concerts wacken 2013 tampere 2015 and buenos areas 2018 and the islander arms 2022 virtual setting plenty of absolutely beautiful and heavy but technically i had known about nightwish music since wishmaster in 2000
Howdy, Patrol! Great reaction, as always~ To add to the list of references you compiled during your review of the song, I saw you smiling when they mentioned Tír na nÓg, the fairyland of eternal youth from Irish mythology, so I figured perhaps you're familiar with it as a religious scholar or a Scotsman by blood (seeing how closely the cultures are linked). That realm, and the gods of the Tuatha Dé that reside there, do feature prominently in a good amount of literature themselves -- most immediate in mind are Lady Augusta Gregory's chronicles of Irish legend that begin with the Mythological Cycle featured in "Gods and Fighting Men." I wouldn't be surprised if its presence in the song lyrics was of a broader nature than just that, however, given its thematic and aesthetic resonance with Nightwish's general image and philosophies.
To me Pan is about imagination, childhood wonder and maybe the reality of the adult life that try to stomp over it. There are really great references to Fairy Tales (the books title that is on the table, did same as you, paused to see it) playing cards, movie strips, dices etc. In the lyrics I found references too about fairytales, first that came to my mind were SnowWhite, Cinderella etc. References to books Labyrinth, Keystone Earth and There and Back etc. Some cards have ravens on them, raven is also in celtic mythology the messenger between this life and Tir Na Nog, your explanation is better though. And I totally missed the point with the dominos but now that you said it of course it is the monolite. This song was for me the most Nightwishy and instant fav, it was like home, you know, familiar and easy to listen. Still in my top3, just loving it. And thank you for giving me more of those references 🤘🏼🤘🏼
G'day mate, always enjoy your reactions. Most of your reflections are spot on, but I think you missed one obvious starting point in your analysis: the name of the song itself. Pan also refers to the silent canvas mentioned in the first verse... fill the empty canvas with colours and music and fantasy and fulfill your life! And by coincidence (or not) the latin name for chimpanzee is Pan troglodytes. Keep up the good work! Greetings from the land of the northern lights - and Nightwish!
Tuomas seems to have read and remembered his Bradbury. “Something Wicked This Way Comes” is one of his better known classic novels. Or is it a case of synchronicity? (Thanks for the leap back to The Bard!)
since u mentioned cinderella snow white etc.... i d like to point out .... not separately... collectively... the title is Snow Glass Apples and is a short story by Neil Gaiman here... have a look on wikipedia entry en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snow,_Glass,_Apples and i think that's the interesting part as the song clearly is about imagination also verified by Tuomas in one of the short vids about the songs prior to release. Careful check of the lyrics shows stories sparking the imagination ... so if we just read them as they are they are just allready processed "chewed" food taken as it is, but if Mind processes it an fins and builds hooks and builds more stories ... imagination see? Cause the Neil Gaiman story sees the classic fairy tales as a basis to build something diferent ( something wicked that way came?)
You did the acoustic version of Nemo with Floor and Troy from (Planet Rock) They did a song called "How's the heart", from the same session. Even better than Nemo IMO. Great acoustic playing from Troy and Floor well !!!. Even if you don't review it have a listen. Sure you'll love it.
You may need some tissue for the next one, 'How's The Heart' Tuomas wrote the second verse for Floor. The song itself is great and hits on a really important message but add that in there and it's quite the whammy. especially in the acoustic version.
Hi again mate it steve in uk again uve done alot of reactions for me .as u no im huge nightwish fan and iron maiden fan . I take it u liked pan mate lol yes what a song
Tuomas must be clairvoyant - after this disaster is over, we really do need to reset the world. The way we're doing things is clearly not working. But will The Powers That Be allow it to happen if it threatened their hold over the world? And the orchestra on the album is The Pale Blue Orchestra.

Totally agree!
Agreed. It really is amazing
Agreed
Boring but TOTALLY AGREED
Absolutely
Your analysis is exceptional dude. Your power of observation is mindboggling to me. I thought this was the best track on the album, and you just explained to me why :-) And lets be honest, any reaction starting with "G'day" is fun to watch!
Keep up the good work and try not to loose your mind with 'Tribal'.
Exactly what I thought he seems to be a very intelligent man
That look on your face when you reached under your desk to turn up the volume and suddenly the song got heavy - priceless! :-)
With this album I think we can say that Tuomas and Nightwish have created a new genre. I'd call it "Classical Metal" where the classics of literature, music, themes, and art are fused into a metal melange.
I love this! It fits perfectly!
YESSS😚
And science!
Nightwish...the thinking man's metal band.
The complexity of this album, lyricwise, is mindblowing. Everything's connected and it's been fun and exciting trying to decipher everything. :D

Now I'm totally speechless. I have nothing to add. Or maybe that let us not forget Emppu here. 🎸 Great and very deep analysis. Thank you!
This was a great analysis. I never would have picked up on a lot of those literary references.
Tuomas Holopainen is certainly one of the greatest genii of all times.
And your reactions are really deep and thoughtful. Thank you so much, keep rocking!
I would love to hear a conversation between you and Tuomas. You are exceptional!

Spending some time in Tuomas' mind would probably make my head explode after 5 minutes… :-D
Must be a labyrinth of sound that only Tuomas can hear then his fingers work there magic so us mere mortals can hear the sounds as well .

Once there was a silent canvas
Sleeping stories unimagined
Birth of what if`s, hope and wonder
Winds will be named, words will shelter
Then, something wicked their way came
Showed a way to the Great Escape
Evoke the worlds, sparked the brain
An ape in awe before a door - "of your mind imagination"
A moment alone
With unbeknown
Reset the world
Imagine home
A primal need
To touch the stars
Only way there
To enter
