Check S.M.A.R.T. at the Command Prompt

You can view a very basic S.M.A.R.T. status from the Windows Command Prompt. To open the Command Prompt, hit Start, type "Command Prompt," and then press Enter.
The following screenshots were taken on a Windows 11 machine, but your experience should be virtually identical on older versions of Windows, like Windows 10 and Windows 8.
