I think Michael had the mask on when Laurie leaves the key at the Myers' house. I need to rewatch it, but I think you can hear the breathing and possibly see some of the hair either in the house or when he's watching Laurie walking to school. The inconsistency with the timing of the store alarm is the error that bothers me most.
The way I can explain it is that Mr Nichols takes inventory at the end of the day (4:00ish) and that's when he discovers the missing mask, knifes and rope...Happy 🎃 everyone
I can save the knife one! "All they took was some Halloween masks, rope and a couple of knives." Michael had more than one knife. The knife he pulled out upstairs was not the one he tried to use on the couch with Laurie. Saved! Hardware store alarm is harder. Here's an attempt... On weekdays, this small town hardware store only opens for evening "after work" hours. Mr. Nichol's comes by in the late afternoon to open up, sees the break in, and flips the alarm on to bring the police. Actually, that kind of works. There were, in fact, small town stores that did this back in those days.
Tommy Jarvis is Friday the 13th. Tommy Wallace was a production assistant for Halloween and directed H3. They named the two kids after him. Tommy Doyle and Lindsey Wallace.
I think they felt pressured to keep going, had they waited a minute more thinking on it they would of realized the mistake, Austin kind of caught it as well
@@markmac2206 same. One local hardware store even had toys and such in the basement. You could find almost anything in small town stores back in the day, including masks.
Michael learning to drive isn’t crazy at all..Even locked up in a mental institution you would still have to go back and forth to court numerous times before being permanently sentenced..Also I’m pretty sure Dr Loomis was being sarcastic when when saying “Maybe someone around here gave him driving lessons”.
MY explaination is that the hardware store closed early for Halloween (I know most places don't do that), and that it was broken into by somebody else entirely. You know, one of the other kids out "pulling pranks". That's the easiest way I've been able to explain that away.
I always wondered when Michael was in the kitchen pursuing Laurie He was literally feet away from her but took forever to come out of the house to walk across the road to get her. Also in the next scene when Laurie picks up the phone and then drops it back down, you can see the side window open which would mean Michael has snuck in and is behind the sofa, but Laurie has just come from there and he's not there til the next shot when shes sitting on the floor.
My excuse for the lack of trick or treaters is that they just werent on that street. Also they didnt have much decorations which would mean the houses aren’t giving out candy
The store wasn't robbed by micheal, but by teenagers. Micheal was wearing the mask when laurie drops the keys. He either got from the mechanic or somewhere else. He could have gotten the knife and rope from anywhere, remember he had to drive 150 miles. Plenty of time to stop for supplies.
All in all, we can dissect the film to death, we have had what 40 plus years to point out things, while John Carpenter and the whole crew made due with 21 days of filming? Something like that? I love with all its inconsistent parts!
My thought is Laurie was Micheal's 2nd choice. Annie was his real target. He was following her when she picked up Laurie. He was in her neighbors yard when Laurie saw him behind the sheet. He watched her go to Lindsey's house and stalked her not Laurie at Tommy's. Main clue he put Annie under his sisters Tombstone. Laurie was just the nosey friend getting in the way not minding her own business.
I always saw it as Judith's BF being a 2 pump chump but because girls were different back then and or her being her age just doesn't know that it is not supposed to be that quick OR she didn’t call him on it. Poor Judith. Getting poorly stabbed that much in one night 😂
A Few Years Ago , I Noticed The Myers now Driven station wagon right behind Loomis is there and Never mentioned on any commentary of the Film yet I know of over all these years i have noticed too. I already found that and John Carpenter I showed it too on his Facebook and he called it an Easter Egg And I Found it. lol
Certain people could easily be able to drive after having spent any considerable amount of time in a car. I always just saw that statement as a throw away because it's a good point to make for a guy that tried to warn everyone that this person isn't what they thought and to take more caution. Loomis was fuming. I think too many of us fans put way too much stock in that comment. I will agree though that it deserves to be talked about it's just i never really hung on that question. Oh, and happy bday Austin. My wife's is on Sunday. So many June birthdays. As if i needed another reason to love October
Michael was in Smith's Grove Sanitarium from the age of 6 to 21. He then escapes in the middle of the night (dark out), in 1978, and then drives 4 hours to Haddonfield. He would have no idea how to get there, again in 1978. Even if there was an unfolded map on the steering wheel with the route highlighted He couldn't do it. Not possible.
@@danielsatter1805 But at the age of 6 he wouldn't know where he was taken or how to get back to where he's from which is 4 hours away, then fast forward 15 years.
@@travzimmerman1340 he was in there for 15 years, I'm sure if they went somewhere in that county he would've been paying attention to all the road signs. I know it's a stretch but it's still possible, especially for someone that would wait 15 years not speaking a word. I don't underestimate CRAZY
Pt, 2 didn't make sense for trick or treaters. By that point in the timeline it had to be the middle of the night. Especially after midnight but there are trick or treaters out and it's after all the original murders. .
No sooner than the thought came through my brain of,how did he know how to get there,u asked the same thing! 😂 The time line i totally agree with, doesn't make sense.can u see yourself asking carpenter about it? Solider shot too soon or couldn't stand to attention, probably both their first time.
I'm sorry even if he was able to drive he would still be driving up on curves swerving or something he was driving like a straight-up Pro and that's not how you drive and you can't explain that away in this movie sorry but then they talk about Rob Zombie's version of when they have him talking well they can say the same thing about the original when they have him driving in 4 or 5 of his movies don't make a lot of sense at all he would definitely be jerking in the car he would be slamming on the brakes he would be going up on curves something being a new driver😂😂😂😂
The original is the totally overrated, so is carpenter. This movie sucks. It's hard to sit through. People act like the script was great. It was awful, 'totally'. The kills were silly. What's good about it? The coat hanger in the eye? The theme song is gold, no doubt but the movie is torture to sit through.
This is a movie that needs to be seen in theaters- it hits different on the big screen. It’s not my favorite horror film or anything like that nor do I defend it for nostalgia reasons but if you want this movie to actually be scary, you have to watch it in a big screen in theaters- some movies only pop on the big screen.

Yeah the alarm is ringing all day.
Yeah that's one of the biggest errors.
I love the "laundry room" 50 feet from the house. Must be a blast doing laundry in early February when it's -20 outside and 3' of snow on the ground.
Haddonfield Illinois as lush as a tropical rainforest in late fall 😂
The glorious mountains/foothills of Illinois in the background when Loomis is using the pay-phone 😂
Great Show!!! Glad I found a new Halloween related channel 👍🏻👍🏻

Is Mr.Nichols blind and deaf?
The question what took so long for Annie and Laurie getting to Tommy 's house, they probably finished smoking that pot.

It really isn't an "alarm" though if you have to manually turn it on.

i also thought it was weird that a hardware store carried Halloween Masks. !!!!! But maybe in 1978 that was common
Well look at Home Depot and Lowe’s. They carry Halloween and Christmas decorations every year
Those hardware stores back in the day had everything. We had a drug store/hardware store with an upstairs and downstairs.

There is a mystery and that is why Michael Myers is the most terrifying killer
Halloween!!!

Michael Myers ran on pure instinct with the mentality of a six year old
How did Michael put rake against the back door and then sneak in front door and get up stairs in 56 seconds.
The ridiculously long blade stabbing Bob against the door is what takes me out of the movie for a moment.
