What an awesome guest expert! She was funny, energetic, knew her history, and gave solid advice! She was great to listen to... I hope you guys find another topic to bring her back
You should of brought out the cannabis episode today being that it’s 420, now I’m just sitting here extra stoned thinking about how fucked my credit score is. Excellent podcast though.
For the anniversary of the podcast I would like to present the scoring statistics for the first 50 episodes: Highest score: 10,017 episode 22 (Strongman) Lowest score: -2297 episode 27 (Greek mythology) Highest reasonable score (0-30): 27 episode 17 (Magic mushrooms) Lowest reasonable score (0-30): Tie at 3 between the navy seals and the Vietnam war. Average score: 8,665.5 (because of the 10,000) Average reasonable score (0-30): 16.5 If you actually read this I can get more in detail if you would like, but for now just know that I love the show and hope you continue for many years to come!
Hello guys! A few years ago, I was in a bad car wreck, got disabled and suffered from horrible depression. Then I watched Jim’s Freedumb special on Netflix and been following him ever since! Watching your comedy specials and show has really helped me get through massive depression. So, thank you Jim for helping me in my life. My wife, Holly, and I watch your podcast on UA-cam every week. We love each and every one of you guys and wish you all the best. It’s actually our anniversary this weekend, so if you could tell my wife “Happy Anniversary” for marrying this big dumb idiot, that would mean so much. Thank you for your time.
We got taught this in my (public) school. Had to have a bank account and manage a checkbook. My Gf also got taught how to “invest”, and they bought stocks and what not. Just depends on your district I guess
Jim, Jack, Kelly, Forrest, sorry if this brings the tone down: but your podcast has got me through my depression. All the podcasts, not just Water Quality with Erin Brockovich or Cheese with Liz Thorpe, but all of them. Thank you for uploading podcasts regularly! The podcast on Depression was something I could particularly relate to. Some days I feel great with parties awaiting me at night, but depression hits first and I just can't go. I think you and the awesome crew have given me the strength to go, Jim. I hope that's the case. I haven't met any of you, but I respect all of you - Jim with your depression, Kelly with yours, Forrest with grieving over the loss of your mother, and Jack, if you're going through finding yourself and it's difficult. I'm personally feeling a decent 6 out of 10, and after listening to you podcasts daily, and realise we are all the same, and I feel a better 8 or 9 out of 10. I wish you all the best and look forward to your next podcast :) The Grateful Dead was another great one :)
As an Australian living in New Jersey, man l relate on so many levels (l remember my Commonwealth Christmas Clubbank account lol) I and my family been renting for 20 years in Nj and other winning Lotto or robbing a bank most likely be renting for another 20.
This is one of those things that every high school in America should have, along with basic personal finance. It's one of the most important and practical things you can learn. In undergrad, someone posted a coupon for a "free medium pizza at Papa Johns" on everyone's dorm door. There was a PJ down the street. So you show up looking for a free medium pizza, but you had to sign up for a credit card... 18 year olds who wants a free pizza... They got a lot of kids
Great guest! Tiffany come off as very genuine, which is refreshing for someone in financial self-help. Also her experience as a teacher really came through.
@@bobby4957 yeah I must say you are right in that. I think as a german we don't have enough beautiful black women here, I think that has a effect. 🤭 She gets exotic bonus points. I would pick her up in my Mercedes. But she's married so I can't take her on a date. Shame

Just as much as I enjoyed the Hanukah episode because I'm not Jewish, so didnt know diddly either, as someone actively working on their credit, this one was a double whammy for me! few laughs, few lessons on something your actively figuring out all in one! Keep em coming!
Besides being funny and unique, I'm actually learning a lot. And I was a professor at 24 yrs of age! Well okay, it WAS in music, and jazz at that. Speaking of which, Jim needs to talk more about his college experience and the fact that he sang opera, including in the Sydney Opera chorus. Actually very impressive. You don't get to sing with an opera company like that if you suck.
I'm not from US and as for stating that the American Express card is good, it may be so, but not every time. I've seen many places in Europe and Asia that stated "We do not accept American Express cards. We accept Mastercard and Visa." I was always wondering what is so bad about those cards, that so many places don't accept them.
Higher fees to the vendor. AMex has better rewards but that’s why. In Australia there’s a lot of places that either don’t accept or charge extra for using it
My credit score went from like 750 to 798 since I watched this. I have 2 cards, focused on keeping the balance of one of them at 0 and chipping away at the second one. Thanks guys! Now I know about that! Ps Jack looks like Dave Grohl of Dave Grohl was a fry cook
The weed stores have to charge cash because weed isn’t legal nationally but only state by state . So they have to only take cash so they don’t get charged with federal crimes that they could be charged with if they used credit cards
I had a job after I got my B.S in Financial Accounting working through a Temp Agency...I was in Control of Purchasing and Accounts Payable...So basically I ordered stuff and cut the check to pay for it. The biggest check requisition that I put through was for around $746,599. Some legal thing.....lol

Hey Jack, for next episode get the little bells like at pre 2000's restaurants. Office Depot/Max has them in the cash register isle... It could be fun.
I'm not attracted to Jack in that way but I'm actually very very surprised he doesn't have a girlfriend yet! Like, *how high* is the bar that these girls are setting....? Honestly if a girl friend of mine wanted to be set up with a nice young funny successful man I would push Jack *right* to the front!! :)
The bar is very high with people these days. I'm guessing Jack is a bit of a workaholic so doesn't have much of a personal life right now and isn't meeting any women. He's good looking and semi-successful (he's got famous friends), so it's only a matter of time and opportunity.
I will mention (which I'm sure it has been said already) but weed shops have to do cash only because weed is still a federally listed drug. And the FDIC will not allow banks to take money from illegal sales of drugs. Since you have to have a bank account to have a merchant account to have a CC machine, weed shops are out of luck.
Tiffany I'm sorry but I'm certain the romans and the maltesa had Credit Systems thousands of years ago. Also the british colonial powers. But yes no modern technology like cards. I do love your smile
Speaking of what everybody says what they'll do if they win a million dollars, have you noticed how much more generous they are before they win, compared to after? Those who haven't won will definitely give at least half of it to orphanages, cause they just can't help being such fantastic people.
I owed over £11,000 at the age of 18. At that time = $22,000. Family is working class (not rich). I got a job at 16, straight out of school (sales) & when I hit 18 I got an 8 grand bank loan and credit card, booked a month long holiday to the Dominican Republic, f**ked my job off (I was 18, I thought I'd easily get another) & went. Came back and by the time I'd got myself a phone, some clothes and been out a few times, all the cash was gone. I was a grand overdrawn on my bank account and owed 2 grand on a Mastercard. I couldn't get another job. Letters started coming to the house, obviously my Mother opened them and my Dad went f**king mental. Held me up against the wall by my throat. I remember that. My Dad's a 6ft 3" man from Glasgow. Trust me, it didn't feel good. My parents literally didn't have the cash to bail me out. Anyway, ended up going to court (after some time) and got the debt wiped, basically, on the grounds that the bank acted irresponsibly lending so much to an 18 year old f**kwit from a council estate. True story.
The weed stores have to use cash because the banks won’t service them due to the fact that weed is still illegal according to the federal government, so even if the state government legalises it, they still have to sell for cash, pay staff and even federal taxes all in cash.
