Jim Morrisons father was the admiral in charge of the naval fleet in the Gulf of Tonkin incident. Cant believe nobody brought this up as i think Jim would of liked that fact.
The original false flag terror justification of war, combined with a theory that a celebrities father was the admiral... can’t imagine why they wouldn’t discuss that...
Or how you’d state it as “fact”... as if that’s not up for debate
@@thomaswright5632 "Morrison was commander of the U.S. naval forces in the Gulf of Tonkin during the Gulf of Tonkin Incident of August 1964, which sparked an escalation of American involvement in the Vietnam War"
Remember Jim, you can't spell slaughter without laughter
@Izaiah Bennett I hacked your girlfriend's account too. Had to remove my traces. Worked!
Forrest should host therapy group sessions using precisely the same demeanour and energy that he projects in these podcasts. i'd definitely tune in to watch that.
Sorry to be offtopic but does any of you know of a trick to log back into an instagram account?
I was dumb forgot my password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me
If you ever want to see how weird the American perceptions of Vietnam and themselves were back then read two novels, Graham Greene's 1955 novel "The Quiet American", and the 1958 novel "The Ugly American" by Eugene Burdick and William Lederer. Both novels are critical of Americans. Compare those novels to the 1958 film version of "The Quiet American" and 1963's "The Ugly American." Full disclosure, I used both the books and films as some of the primary sources in my undergrad history thesis. There was this excellent course at University of Alaska Fairbanks where we would watch Westerns of each historical era in American history, we would watch Booming 20s Westerns, Depression-era westerns, WW II Westerns, etc. Last film we watched was Jim Jarmusch's "Dead Man", a pretty great film. Sorry for the rambling.
The guest looks like a fit version of Ed O'Neill, great guest, great podcast as always!
On deployments, the amount of soda at the ready was amazing. Coke, sprite, orange, dr. Pepper, rippits, mad dog energy drinks. My god!! The heat just made ya thirstier. But ya gotta have that caffeine. Only legal drug on deployments.
Jack's best segment yet! 😂 Yall are the reason I look forward to waking up on Tuesday! Thanks for all the yuck-em-ups!
Jim., I just love you. You are so truthfully honest and open. What you share is how I feel myself,.
I am so happy that you can make income from just being yourself and sharing it.
I am a totally dedicated fan and will do whatever I can to support you.
A thousand, balloons thank you’s for contributing to my life in your special way!
Jeff
I would watch a whole episodes of you reading jokes from that book.
This is a GOOD one.
educated, intelligent and articulate guests are best.
Jim, Jack, Kelly, Forrest, sorry if this brings the tone down: but your podcast has got me through my depression. All the podcasts, not just Water Quality with Erin Brockovich or Cheese with Liz Thorpe, but all of them. Thank you for uploading podcasts regularly! The podcast on Depression was something I could particularly relate to. Some days I feel great with parties awaiting me at night, but depression hits first and I just can't go. I think you and the awesome crew have given me the strength to go, Jim. I hope that's the case. I haven't met any of you, but I respect all of you - Jim with your depression, Kelly with yours, Forrest with grieving over the loss of your mother, and Jack, if you're going through finding yourself and it's difficult. I'm personally feeling a decent 6 out of 10, and after listening to you podcasts daily, and realise we are all the same, and I feel a better 8 or 9 out of 10. I wish you all the best and look forward to your next podcast :) The Grateful Dead was another great one :)
oh those crafty coconut snatchers! lol lol
Canada loves Jim.
I don't think I've ever seen Jim nail the "Yes, No" section so quickly. Well done, mate!
The old joke book to start things out was a good idea.
What a smart, passionate guest with a wealth of info.
I was in high school in the mid to late 80's when the most Vietnam War movies came out, and we were riveted because we were all sure that a war in Central America was imminent and we thought there was a good shot that history was going to repeat itself there and we could all be drafted to fight it.
Anything related to the Vietnam War we ate it up because we thought it was our very near future.
Another entertaining and interesting episode. Now do more than one episode a week!
My dad was a sonar operator on one of those ships in the gulf of tonkin incident. He always said that it didn't really happen. He said some high up officer came in and told them they had been fired upon, he said no they hadn't, and then whoever it was pretty much ordered him to say it. As a kid I always knew about the Gulf of Tonkin incident because of that story. The sonar technician would, of course, know if a torpedo was launched. Anyway, there is no possibility it was an accident or misunderstanding. They planned it beforehand, and carried it out knowing it was fake. As far as I know, the government never investigated who was responsible for the deception, but it almost certainly was done with the president's approval.
Best podcast keep it up
I love the Diploma University diploma behind him. Kind of like a FU to those who flaunt their degrees.
the titles tells me The Vietnam War then i arrive and the first thing i see is a white guys drinking dr pepper and smiling 😂😂 I wasnt ready for that 😂
This show is better than 99% of podcasts out there. Most podcasts have turned into two-hour promotions for some stupid new book or movie. THIS is what podcasts used to be about. Just hanging out and having a good talk.
My dad was a Vietnam vet, as were y uncles and all of my dads friends. It still weirds me out to meet people that have never even met a veteran (I live in Oklahoma though) and I'm bad at hiding my shock lol.
I'm astounded that Jim knew that much about Vietnam
Thanks for the Mammeries!
I love you jim. You're my favorite comedian of all time. We have the same sense of humor. I call it fd up humor
thunder always rolls when it rains! go Jim!
Should ask a Vietnamese person, fly them over, ask them about the war. P.S. 3 mil Vietnamese dead is a very conservative estimate. Many estimate it at closer to 5 million including the U.N. America, indeed.
Learned a lot, thanks
Love the new segment Jack. I'd go even farther back in time for the next joke book. Maybe also some really off color war propaganda jokes.
Interesting episode topic too and i'm glad it didn't come off as dry.
Danger Close - The best Vietnam war movie involving the Australians
Jim was giving Ken Burns length answers and I loved it!
Happy April 18th when it comes everybody 👍
This was a good, interesting segment by Jack. He really took charge on this one.
doctor of History! Excellent!
No mention of what happened in My Lai??
A little known fact told to me by an old digger who was assigned as an instructor in Vietnam. When Australian patrols came across American patrols in the field they would lie low and not present themselves to avoid becoming targets of ill disciplined troops that were often high on something.
Love all of you, best podcast ever. (From Israel)
British where there in some form as my mate served there but couldnt say in what capacity
My uncle always told me Vietnam stories. He was a commander so he didn't see a lot of action. He seen and moved tons of heroin and prostitutes. He said none of his soldiers seen much combat. They guarded an ammo supply and transported drugs. A bunch of them stole piles of gold and got rich. Vietnam was fun for a few people, my uncle said it was the happiest time of his life
I'll second that!
200,000 that is a good number!
premade sauces excellent!
Agent Orange is a little known character in Clue the board game.
I think since as Jim pointed out that Australians went to Vietnam, his knowledge of the war (or lack there of) is kinda tragic
I love this show
Good night New Zealand!
the tap code like morgan freeman in the shawshank redemption?
Omg has been a week already!
Angus Young! lol lol
Great modern song about Vietnam showing 2 very different views on the war is 'Uncommon Valor' by Jedi Mind tricks. It's pretty incredible
I apoligise for my last few comments Jim. i was too harsh... is your guest on now? i should shut my trap and just listen. thanks for your patinence!
watching american's learning about their true american history in real time. profound.
Forrest be like: "that's my bread & butter you're fucking with, Jim"
That has to be the best dinner party fact I’ve ever heard.
jim got everything from forrest gump!
My history teacher gave me an F on a Vietnam paper for stating all these truths in 1996! The realiity of the war still remains hidden for most Americans.
The vast majority of the 3M Vietnamese people who died in that senseless war could have cared less what government they had! They were only trying to survive.
Drinking a slushi right now, Jim was right, they added to much syrup!
are u plugging David Spade? I like this humor!
Before the US send troops, the US president asked the Dutch to send troops, since the Dutch had a jungle army at that time. But since the USA forced the Dutch to leave what is now Indonesia, the Dutch minister of foreign affairs Luns told him nope, not going to happen.
About the child named Macbeth in the shitty joke - the play involves people getting poor sleep. Only Duncan get's sound sleep in the play and that get's him killed - that took about 10 seconds to look up on google - I trained under Nadav
Should of had norm macdonald on reading those jokes.
Fanta Water or Doctor Pepper? i like em ALL!
34:54 "Holy balls!" - Jim Jefferies.... on Vietnam vs. America ....

I still love the way you do commercials that’s the best
You should do an episode about the Portuguese revolution. It's a great story about a peacefull revolution
Hi guys you’re funny as ever
If youre into podcasts - which you sure are, may I suggest you watch the Jocko episodes featuring Tilt, a MAC V SOG Vet, they filled around 12 hours of thrilling, gruelsome Vietnam-Stories (I assume not the most objective recount of what happened, but entertaining as hell)
Kind of imagining Norm MacDonald saying these jokes
Heres one. An Australian walked into a country, it wasn’t his. Hahahaha.
Let Jim talk when he's answering the questions. It's a podcast, it's called "I Don't Know About That With Jim Jefferies".
how do you pronounce ac/dc ?
People always bang on about how bad the music was in the 80's forgetting that there was some awesome music put out then that is still considered among the best. Faith No More, Marvin Gaye, Tom Petty (also with The Heartbreakers), the Cure, the Police, Public Enemy, the Pixies, Nine Inch Nails, The Jam, The Clash, The Cult, Midnight Oil, Bowie, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Cocteau Twins, Beastie Boys etc. Every decade has great music and shite music!
To honest modern music is absolute garbage, of course there's some great stuff but you won't hear it on the radio.
love your drink cup jim :o)
1:25:09 more like Robert phallic 😂😂
1:11:30 - that stuff only applies to Rambo II and beyond - aka after Ronnie Reagan got elected
When I was a kid in the 70s, I thought M.A.S.H. was set in Vietnam
Falklands soundtrack wouldn't be too good then...
Hey, Jim! Dr. Pepper started in Waco, Texas! 😊
Water...use a purifyer.. i guess
The thing that cast a huge shadow and influenced Vietnam policy during Johnson's administration was the narrative that China went communist. The feeling was that China was "lost' due to lack of American effort and it was something politicians tried to pin on their political opponents. There was also a belief that communist countries walked. In lock step together in order to take over the world (domino theory) where each communist victory led to further countries turning red. Vietnam was never about Vietnam itself, it was about communism.
Nixon was the first to explore the idea that there were divisions between China and Russia, which proved to be correct. China and Russia we're at each other's throat, with open warfare nearly breaking out between them. Going to China was probably the most brilliant move Nixon ever made.
Minus stupid Forrest, this show is great
u have to sleep sitting up! lol
oh John McCain Keating 5 and Prisoner of War the Double. Yikes.......
men if u have hair don't wear a cap...conversely wear a cap if hair is not there! WINK wink...not locked in with yur VIP membership!

Here ,Present! , and I was in with flint not 007

Most men that were ANZACS lost their life coming back home being treated like garbages HAPPY ANZAC DAY JIM
There were French Troops?
Hello guys! A few years ago, I was in a bad car wreck, got disabled and suffered from horrible depression. Then I watched Jim’s Freedumb special on Netflix and been following him ever since! Watching your comedy specials and show has really helped me get through massive depression. So, thank you Jim for helping me in my life.
My wife, Holly, and I watch your podcast on UA-cam every week. We love each and every one of you guys and wish you all the best. It’s actually our anniversary this weekend, so if you could tell my wife “Happy Anniversary” for marrying this big dumb idiot, that would mean so much. Thank you for your time.
