    A few thoughts here. #1 Instead of using a hole saw to cut the inner hole you can use whats called a Step Bit, it's used in electrical and other fabrication uses from metal to plastic. They can be found at most major hardware stores and electrical suppliers. Hole saws tend to cause chipping like what is noted in the video. The step bit is stepped at different sizes so you can make the hole the correct size with little or no play. #2 Instead of using the supplied small Philips screws you can simply use the silicon you already have to not only secure it in place but also seal the inner lamp chamber. Simply apply a small bead around the edge of the hole and insert the strobe into it (making sure you don't get the silicon on the lens of the strobe). Also are you LED Hide-A-Way temperature rated to be in close proximity of the Halogen headlight bulbs?

      Mikey8567 my thoughts are you should make your own videos to teach us the correct way to do things with your infinite wisdom

    You installed it above the horizontal center line like you said not to,why did you do that?

      Probably because it was the ideal place to make a hole to miss the uneven surface on the back side.

    I saw some old posts about the new interceptors. It's because they use projector beams so you could put a hideaway in the housing around the headlight magnifying glass but it won't be bright at all.

    This the second video where they show how to install but not how to do the rest like connecting wires. Do u connect to the headlight wires or somewhere else?

    The unit is mounted right on the horizontal center line of the headlight reflector. Want to look at the reflector in the particular compartment of the light housing, as opposed to the entire light assembly. Hope this helps!

  • @truemodsauto

    Yes. Amber will be less intense than the other colors.

  • @truemodsauto
    @truemodsauto  11 років тому +1

    Sorry about the confusion. The horizontal center line is determined based on where the focal point (location of factory bulb), as opposed to the middle of the light assembly. Many people actually mount the hide-a-ways to the bottom side of the light assembly, which works wonders in many applications. The "below the horizontal line" rule is especially important for headlight applications, since the headlight tilts downward towards the street to begin with. Hope this helps!

    HNNNG you didn't line the letters up on the plug! How am I going to pass inspection if they don't line up?

    At 0:40 the video says to never install above the horizontal centerline, yet you appear to do that very thing (4:26). A bit confusing.

    Wiring is actually quite simple. There are a total of 4 wires coming out of the unit. Red for positive terminal, Black for ground, Yellow for pattern selection/synchronization, and White for grouping. The light is self-contained so it will start flashing as soon as power is engaged. You will need a toggle/aux switch to power the lights on/off. Send us an e-mail if you would like additional details. Thanks!

    Sorry, but we have not had the chance to work with the new Police Interceptors yet. If the vehicle utilizes LED head lights or has an interior wall made of glass, then strobes can not be installed in them. If it is just a double walled composite headlight like most of the Fords, non LED, then there shouldn't be any issues. Does the car came with fog lights? Or perhaps and area where an after market could be installed? Can put the strobes in there. Hope this helps.

    I am interested on placing these on my F150's headlights and taillights to give more notice when I am on the side of the road in addition to just my plain flashers. Do you have an instructional video on how to wire all of it ?

    Have you installed any hideaway leds on the new 2013-14 ford police interceptors. I know you can order them with hideaways in them already but we didn't. Im currently putting a 2014 ford interceptor together and planned on installing hideaways. But I was informed that you couldn't drill the holes out on the light assembly anymore. Any suggestions? Im wondering if its because theres 2 walls in them like you show on this video.

    I was wondering, if I made a whole in my rear lights for the for the hide-a-way - “in not the most optimal placement” location - what would be my best options to fix it?
    1. Make a “second” hole and move the hide-a-way to the new hole?
    2. Leave the a “disconnected” hide-a-way in the first hole and make a second hole and add the hide-a-way to the second hole? This way there is no empty hole?
    3. Another suggestion?

    • @dayummimflyy
      @dayummimflyy 10 років тому +1

      just take a little creativity and more patience, you can always do the simple "bake method" to loosen up the glue between the housing and glass, pry it open and work from out to in..... hope this gives you an idea.

    • @mikel9567
      @mikel9567 9 років тому +1

      nastystang113 There is. Most companies that produce these have models that can be mounted without using screws. You simply pop them in and the rubber base holds them in place. These shown in the video are cheap knock offs.

    • @truemodsauto

      They won't affect the beam of the actual headlight, as the beam of the headlights shoot out as driving lights and these hideaways are just inside your headlights. Hope this helps!

    Are we concerned about the tape left inside, or just let the OEM light burn it up? A simpler fix that would be accessible is a twin tube vacuum line, slice each side, not the middle, line the cap, and twist into hole, use dielectric grease to seal. PS - the light you hacked also voided warranty

    • @truemodsauto
      @truemodsauto  10 років тому +1

      Moisture will not get into your headlights if you properly seal it back up after installation, and moisture won't go into the hideaways. Hope this answers your questions.
