Eric Clapton is truly one of the great guitarists of our time. Just so smooth. Wynton Marsalis is also at the top of his game. We only have so few great horn players, but he is easily recognized as one of the great ones. A great listening delight.
There are countless magnificent horn players right now! Go to London or Birmingham - or any major city in the US of course - on any Friday night and there are many gifted players blowing beautifully.
I live near Memphis, but really like New Orleans blues. Wynton is always so gracious and brings out the best of whomever sits in. Yeah, EC looks like he's having a fabulous time.
+andrew wheeler Very inspired playing. I've seen some of his more recent concerts and they're totally lackluster. He's just going through the motions. Here, you can see him feel it, and it's flowing right out of him.
+andrew wheeler Hmm, can't agree with "best Clapton solo ever", but yeah I do agree it's very good. This series of concerts was wonderful. His live shows during the 90s just produced so much outstanding material - the top of his career - but unfortunately most don't get to hear it as it's bootlegger material rather than general release.
I'm pretty sure this is what they call 16 bar form.....based on the Blues of course. Love the rhythmic change in the last 2 bars....And Yes EC's playing is spot on! He only get what the jazzers call "a chorus" 16 bars.....
andrew wheeler I'm just wildly impressed by his ability to fit into Wynton's band and not seem out of place. His style definitely isn't right in line, but he found a way to tone it down and blend in. Can't speak highly enough of Wynton and team either, as they surely had to adjust. Awesome collaboration overall. And now I HAVE to have a sunburst ES335!
Gibson Blues I remember an interview where Clapton said he tried to mimic Louis Armstrong's phrasing in his solos. Even though his note choices come more from blues guitarists, the way he plays with the beat and through the bar lines here, you can hear the Louis influence, and how the New Orleans style is a big part of his style.
¡ Esta es el tipo de BLUES, que me gusta siempre escuchar, cuando estoy AQUI, gracias por dejármela escuchar, tocar y bailar ! Su atento servidor, Raúl Carhuapoma Yacolca.
At this point in time, 04/27/2021 at 1:40 pm CDT there are 41 haters. How could this possible be, unless they are jealous or just deaf!!! I love my home boy, Wynton and his crew. Eric is just icing on this cake for me and definitely NOT why I am watching and listening.
This is as far as I need to look for HEAVEN, Babe. If "Dancers are G-d's athletes" then who am I to suppose their accompanists and vocalists to be? I am so glad to have the privilege of applauding such art KNOWING FOR A SURETY that my applause is valuable to them.
It's not a Ray Charles track...sure, he did it, but this tune goes back to the Dixieland days and beyond. To be fair, his rendition is the first that comes up when you search for it on Spotify.
@@thebog11 - I appreciate that the song goes way back. Also, it depends on how you interpret 'track'; to me it is a song that someone records, so I stand by what I said two years ago.
Alain Cocquemas Eric Clapton - vocals, guitar Wynton Marsalis - trumpet Dan Nimmer - piano Carlos Henriquez - bass Ali Jackson - drums, tambourine Marcus Printup - trumpet Victor Goines - saxophones, clarinets Chris Crenshaw - trombone Don Vappie - banjo, guitar Chris Stainton - keyboards
I jammed with him down in Cocoa Beach 25+ years ago at Dino's Jazz Club.He attended the University of North Florida and my bandmate Jeff Simpson, brought him down that week.
W.C. Handy, the composer of this tune, became a Christian later in life and wrote music for an album titled "From Blues to Triumph". I've done an arrangement of this with different words... words that reflect the change in his life. I'm now in the process of trying to get my arrangement published. So far I've had no success. If you're a Christian, I'd appreciate your prayers asking the Lord to make Mr. Handy's estate allow me to try to publish my arrangement, if it's His will. One additional bit of info, when the commentary attributes this song to someone named "Smth", they're WAY off base! This tune is absolutely by Mr. Handy! Thanks in advance for your prayers!, Kim
Steven Valiquette Ha, probably true. I've been waiting for a vintage sunbust es335 with stoptail bridge and kluson tuners. Biggest issue with the ones I'm finding from the late 60's is the neck is so damn skinny! Also, a lot of them have grovers, which just don't look right on a Gibson, as far as I'm concerned.
Wynton Marsalis and Eric Clapton. Words can't describe.
very lucky to get this on youtube..Thank you Eric Clapton for your beautiful gift of music!!

Marsalis only plays with the best of the best. What a group!

One of the sweetest things about Jazz is the songs are long... kick back and enjoy.🎼🖤
(Awe... I'm in Awe..)
I love the old New Orleans slow drive on this.Eric seems happy on stage with Wynton and his band.

Eric you nailed this one.....one of your best especially with Wynton and band!!
Carlos!
But Eric nailed this. BB would be so proud.
According to Lead Belly this song was first sung by Blind Lemon Jefferson "somewhere around 1904". That's Old School!
Best Clapton solo ever. Ever. Wow. Some things really do get better with age.

What a great rendition of this great classic song!
Beautiful song
Great song!! Great rendition!!
Love . . . Careless love
Po prostu niesamowite wykonanie utworu. Można słuchać bez końca. Perfekcyjne i niesamowite do nieskończoności.
One of the best versions I've heard.
Eric is the most versatile musician I koow
Wow, brilliant. That's seriously some of Clapton's best playing ever. I've got the next two days open. Time to study that solo.
Gibson Blues Right??? Amazing. So unexpected! His voice and guitar in the best form I've ever heard them and I've seen and listened to him a lot!

Hadn't heard that. That's interesting. Good to draw influences from a wide range.
Bell bottom blues
Eric looks like he is enjoying every minute of this whole concert he did.

This is a beautiful song and great interpretation; describes my own life
This is like a prophet saying, really it is; it is the true
This is great, but I was blown away by Corrina, Corrina...especially the many great solos!

A theme that I will always enjoy.
Clapton should’ve gotten out of his comfort zone more often and played concerts like these.
Eric with a Gibson, it just works. Amazing tone and his playing just sounds better with a Gibson.
Eric should play the guitar more often!!

Great interpretation of one of my favourite Ray Charles tracks. EC certainly looked very much at home in this company.

W.M. OTTIMO JAZZ
Are none of these guys wearing ear plugs on stage, including Clapton? They must be suffering from some kind of hearing loss
What model is that es-335? I can't find any new models with the kluson tuners?
Gibson Blues It's Clapton, probably fully custom :p
