    I am a newbie in woodworking. I am also 82 years old. My daughter house is being sold and there are several repair needed. To save money I did most of the repair. So far I’ve removed and replace damaged hardwood flooring, and replace base moldings. This device is super useful. Thanks for the video.

    My husband and I are new to DYI. We are in our 50's and still have the energy to DIY. You make installing crown molding seem soooooooo easy, and we love all of your videos. Please enter us in the Louisville ladder contest. We would love to win one, based on our budget and limited mobility. It would make our lives and our home improvement projects a lot easier to DIY with the Louisville ladder. Keep those videos coming and we thank you.

    In my old house years ago I tried making a fireplace mantle with 6'' crown. I wasted about 2' of it trying to cut it properly! Now I'm thinking about making one for my new(Old) house and this jig is perfect! I even thought of just buying a mantle until I saw your video. Thanks. Made my day!

    We get a lot of great wisdom from you, Paul. At 2:27 I saw something unusual. I was taught years ago when I was a little bunny in using the table saw to never, never use the miter gauge and the rip fence together -- unless I was trying to demonstrate kickback. To use the rip fence as a set up aid, but to avoid inviting kickback, I was taught to use a short spacer block so that when the blade starts cutting, the edge of the work piece is not touching the rip fence or the spacer block. I know a lot of people disregard that and seem to do fine, but I prefer to minimize kick back risk. Stay safe, my friend. By the way, I love that jig. Great idea.

    • @paulstoolbox
      @paulstoolbox  7 років тому +3

      I really appreciate your comment my friend! I try to think of safety when it comes to my videos, but sometimes miss certain details and this is one of those times. I should have moved the fence back before cutting and I will definitely do this in future videos. Thanks again and I really appreciate you taking the time for me!
      Have a great day!
      Paul

    Man I sure needed that jig 10 years ago. I did two rooms using 6 inch crown, vowed not to do that again. Now I use 3 inch crown and 3 inch base boards and buildup the crown much easier and looks beautiful. Fantastic video and instruction again Paul, keep up the great work!

    • @paulstoolbox
      @paulstoolbox  7 років тому

      Hi Michael,
      That's a great way to do it as well, a few more cuts but well worth it! I have a video showing how to save money by using a smaller crown, measure down a few inches and using a picture molding as a trim. I paint the crown, space and picture molding the same color to give the appearance of stacked crown. There are so many things you can do with crown molding and they usually look great!
      Have a good day buddy!

    I truly enjoyed this I'll have to make a jig for myself. You don't know the number of times that I've had to cut those little return pieces. I did one house in 1970 where the customer went to a lumber yard that was closing and bought all of the crown that they had. I put Crown everywhere. It was a million dollar home with 19' ceilings, brick work in odd places That jig and that ladder would have been a godsend.

    Simple and elegant. Very nice. Concern I have is for tearout since the blade is cutting OUT the face instead of into it. With a good blade, that should not be a big problem, esp for MDF - and for paint grade, any tearout is easily fixed. However, for stained wood, I can foresee it may be a problem.
    ..... BTW 2P10 is really great stuff! .... The Louisville ladder looks pretty good!

    Good ideal with the crown jig. I always do it free handed or cut it flat!

    Hey Paul, love the show. I don't always agree with the method showed, but more often than not in leaning something new in a fun format. Thanks Paul!

    man simply an amazing jig Paul . It's nice to see someone who you can tell actually works day-lie with his tools , some of the guys on here are just here to get some like and subscribers and that's it. I have always found your videos to be clean informative and very accurate . As always keep up the good work and if you have time to message a good 'ol boy back i have a 2 used older craftsman tables saws not sure of the make and model . They both are in fine working order but i dont know how to go about dialing them in and getting them ready to do some serious work. And rather than watch 200 hours of useless videos I thought you might just be the guy to ask and I could get some clear direction to at least start in. I can say this they are heavy weights . Each one weighs probly 400 pounds they are shop saws not Jobsite saws and they have the external belt driven motors. and are solid cast iron! Man did i get a deal for 100 bucks for both? I thought so and tried to hide my grin as i had my 3 boys load them on the trailer! The guy i bought them from is a friend that was into woodworking and never really used them as he bought them in a bulk tool auction and as they became objects in his way the price he wanted kept getting lower. So at any rate i seem to be rambling on here if you have time Paul any help would be great and i hate i missed the first 100 comments because that ladder would be awesome in my new shop. Thank as always for your time...Adam

    Awww.. heck. .. I'm always a day late and a dollar short.
    Thank you for the instructions on how to cut crown... (I'm going to use your method, when I get to the point of doing the interior)
    I'm envious of that ladder :)

    Great invention for the cutting crown molding
    Now I don't need to worry about upside-down or right side up
    Another great one is a new step lather
    The old one I couldn't ever lean it to the outside corner of my wall or furniture
    Thanh you for sharing great ideas
