Rumbles are a good bedroom and low volume practice amp because of the way they are voiced. I have the 40 and it's a solid little performer for what it is, and is super lightweight. However, the bedroom or very low volume practice situations is where it stays. It's been said that the sealed Ampeg cabs aren't the best for bedroom purposes, but have that cut through tone when they are able to be opened up on the stage. I wholeheartedly agree, and I own an 810e and a 410HE. The 210AV is literally 1/4th of the 810 in size and power handling, and has the same frequency response specs. It's not going to be boomy, but where it lacks in the extended low end it will make up for in clean volume. The amp is obviously only 200 watts at 4 ohms, so you'll need a second 210AV to really get enough power and speaker surface area if you're going to put it up to gig duty.
I played the rumble 40 in a store and it has a very nice sound. the 210AV has the goal of sounding like a big ampeg cabinet, so as you tell me it does its job well.
The Ampeg sounded higher and had the better tone....although the rumble was deeper....could have been the EQ....I liked them both together actually for a full range of sound thanks for the demo!
Notice This video was improvised when my friend brought his fender rumble 200 to my house. it is not an accurate test. Also my room tends to "dry" the sounds.
I like the Ampeg, somewhat due to the highs in the tone, but also because its just so dadgum cute. There's a white one near me and I think I want it. Its so adorably lovely to look at. Like, this'll never leave my house; I just play for mine and my cats amusement.
You are comparing an amp that has a single 15" driver (Rumble) to an amp driving a 2x10" cab (Ampeg) Of course, the Fender is going to sound deeper, warmer and less focussed compared to the Ampeg which will naturally sound much tighter with high end detail. That's the nature of 10" speakers vs 15" speakers. I had the Rumble 200 for a while but decided to sell it for an all tube head. I use a Bassman 135 for big shows and I am going to try out the Ampeg Micro VR head into a single Fender 15" cab for small practises and gigs.
you're right, they are different amps, but I had these available at the time for small gigs, maybe even just the micro vr stack or a rumble combo could be fine
Ik this video was uploaded a while ago, but do you know roughly what eq settings you were using for the fender rumble? I have a 100 but seem to struggle to get as much low end out of it without the tone getting too muddy and not being very articulate
I have my bass set at around 1 o’clock, both mids at 10 o’clock and treble at 1 o’clock, I run that with a squire paranormal 54 jazz and that gives a nice tone that I like, I’ll upload a video soon with the settings so you can have a better look matey
1 great demo 2 try and match the eqs better? Or did a all at noon and a match eq? Just to make the co.parison easier 3 the rumble amps have consistant issues with power section. Achelies heel. Ampegs have the quality build
good comparison there.... the Ampeg sounded a bit too 'trebly'? whereas the Fender had much deeper bass - I'm not sure what EQ settings you had on each amp, but I prefer the sound from the Fender..... I may be a little biased though as I have a Fender Rumble 500 and I love it, but I'm not solely loyal to the fender brand
Ill take the 15" over 2x 10s any day. 10s just cant get that super low "punch you in the gut" feeling. Ive tried the two tens before. They sound great no doubt, but that 15 just had the low balls.👍👍🤟🍻

Emmanuel Gracian I read about this in a lot of articles and heard it myself while i was trying it in a Music Store. I thougt this is pretty anoying so i bought another one. I can recommend a GallianKrueger MB115-II if you‘re into Combos or the Micro CL Stack, which I am using. 100 Watt less, but perfect for my needs at home practice and it has no fan.
Hi, I really dig your amp and preamp demos as it often deals with the ones I am interested in. Surprisingly, I find the fender to be more warm-sounding. Would you recommend either the rumble (100 or 200 w) or the ampeg mini stack for home practice and small gigs (if it makes sense to you). Thank you for your advice.
Maybe... I recommend the fender rumble amps, because I think they have a better value for money . All the rumbles amps are good, you just have to choose the one you like or you need more.
Sorry but having played bass in cover bands, these size amps are worthless to play live. The Ampeg win in my book for having a better footprint, which makes it better to fit in someone's room, for rehearsing. I also like how it is a little higher up and the headphone socket it right on the faceplate. If you want to be a professional then pick a pro like rig. Great sound at this price range is moot, learning how to play is more important. Great video, thanks.
@@NtWarlock I love Fenders. They are heard on more recordings than Ampegs hands down, particularly in the 70s. Twenty years ago almost now I owned a 1200 watt head hybrid. Played in a classic rock band. It was great. They are all good, Ashdown, Fender, Ampeg, Warwick, Aguilar, Harke, etc, just pick the amp that you like, but go for the pro rig. @@NtWarlock Yes, that is all you need to rehearse. A big rig is tough to move for just rehearsal. I won't do it. If the guitar player brings in half stacks then I will tell him to turn it down or I leave.

I got the 500 for home use. Usually it’s about a quarter of the way up or maybe 10/11 o’clock. Sure it gets loud enough to knock pictures off the wall, but at normal volumes there’s tonnnns of clean headroom which makes it sound amazing for home use.

The Rumble 200 sounds Warmer-Deeper
yes, it's true
They also gave different speakers
Ampeg articulates better

The Rumble nice low end weak on the top end. The Ampeg nice top end and weak on the bottom end.

I've played the 200 live and it just lacks brightness and high mids for my taste. Low thumping is great though
maybe it will be for the 15" speaker. however rumble amps sound good
No surprise, the ampeg growls.
Ampeg rules!
