- Financial pain and physical pain on this dive. Trying to recover a 60 lb grouper from a cave. Bent one shaft and had a flopper break off the the other. In the dust you don't always see the dangers. When focused on a big fish, docile lion fish often go undetected especially in the dust. This time it cost me.. twice with the second being multiple spines. If you watch my other videos I have a lot of interaction with these fish. I usually get stuck a few times a year. I don't have bad allergic reactions to the venom but it hurts so bad for about an hour your mind will tell you not to look at it because it feels like your hand has been smashed to bits.
Was a good hit on your end. I’ve found if you can get another shaft in them grab both and pinch them together it can freeze them up sometimes
I thought I stoned it till I got ahold of the shaft and it still had that much left. But yes when I watched it for the first time I was like “why didn’t I put two in it”.
@@ThatsStillUs that gun takes some time to get used to. You definitely don’t want to be between it and a big fish pulling you around. Loaded shaft fallowing you around isn’t fun

I too have been stung. Once in the thump (first time ever btw) and thought "what's all the pish posh about this?". The second time was in the back of the hand, like you here (it looks like). I then saw what all the hubub was about. That thing hurt alot and for quite some time.
They have a small reservoir of venom at the base of the spine. Just depends on how much of that you get.

Do you find the more stings you get the less they hurt. I have been stung 12 times and they really do not hurt anymore.
That hasn’t been my experience. Not the first one on this dive wasn’t bad, just a prick the second one was the one where I got 2-3 spines deeper. Those ones still smash

Yeah, that fish was 17 pounds. That’s a pretty big yellow mouth.
