    • @photon3999

      The supply lines he is referring to are close to the front line. It is attacked with drones, FAB 1500 and 3000s, and artillery . The rail line you are referring to is far from the front line. Out of range of small drones, artillery and Russian jets dropping FAB 1500s and 3000s. Russia would have to use hundreds of expensive missiles and shahed drones, many of which are brought down by anti-air fire, to destroy rail lines that are cheap and relatively easy to replace. It wouldn't make sense to waste finite and expensive items on such a foolhardy venture.

    • @aerius30
      @aerius30 21 годину тому

      They don't want to cut it off, not yet. The Russians are playing the long game, they know that some of the NATO nations might want to get together and take a shot at them after the Ukraine goes down, so they're leaving the supply lines open so they can destroy as much NATO equipment as possible ahead of time. Costs them more now, but it means that NATO will be effectively demilitarized by the end of the year. Same reason they haven't blown all the power lines from the EU to Ukraine, it makes energy more costly for the EU since they keep exporting electricity and this is killing industry in the EU. Which of course is good for Russia.

      NATO and the U.S. with our puppet president, are itching for any excuse to expand the War. Not to mention Colonel the experience of the Union Army in our Civil War. The Union/North constantly made the mistake of creating new regiments (regiments being the basic unit at that time, instead of brigades) to fill the ranks of the Federal armies, instead of adding replacements to existing regiments, seriously hampered the effectiveness of the Union Army. Also, this was often done for political reasons in the various states (I'm certain that you and Colonel MacGregor, as military historians, are familiar with the history of terrible Union commanders like General Butler), which I'm sure is probably true in Ukraine today. Corrupt politics plays its role.

    Colonel Davis,
    While Ukrainian military collapse is a possibility, if it does happen, that does not mean the war is over. Ukraine could continue to resist through an insurgency. In fact, it was believed in February 2022 that Ukraine's military would last at most 10 weeks from the start of the all out Russian invasion. After the 10 week mark, Ukraine would switch to fighting an insurgency with the western nations supporting it. So the idea that Ukraine needs to or would surrender before a military collapse is not necessarily accurate. The conflict could continue after Ukrainian military collapse with Russia continuing to pay huge cost for occupation and keeping such a large military force in the field.

    The Ukrainians need to negotiate a peace deal while they still can. To quote that great military expert Jesus "Or again, what king marching to war against another king would not first sit down and consider whether with ten thousand men he could stand up to the other who was advancing against him with twenty thousand? If not, then while the other king was still a long way off, he would send envoys to sue for peace." (Luke 14:31)

    President Macron recently said "someone forgot to say thank you" for the French troops in African countries. It seems to me to highlight the delusion and 'gamification' of the military actions in EU and especially in EU power circles (attack this, offensive that - regardless of the human cost and suffering). Would love to hear your take on this, @DanielDavisDeepDive.

    Can some military expert explain why it has taken Russia so long to rid Kursk of the Ukrainians?? I can’t imagine it taking this long for US Forces to eradicate any incursion into US soil along any part of their border - why are Ukraine still in what is actual Mother Russia and holds so much historical importance to the Russians?

    From the Russian point of view all that war is waged on the Russian territory! Kursk is not special, it is not any better than much larger territories in Donetsk, Lughansk or Kherson!

    They make new brigades because they already tried to restore old brigades at the start of this war and what they got is new recruits learn about level of the loses in those brigades from survivors and get demoralized. Thats why they make totally new brigades and only commanders that stay behind and never participate in combat are experienced, but they are forced to keep any information about previous operations secret.

    Now, if we just allowed ourselves to ponder a possibility that, after the World War II, the ‘powers that be’ intentionally drew up new borders with great laxity ignoring the pre-war national borders of various countries in Eastern Europe to secure future conflicts, prolonged Kursk incursion makes perfect sense. It’s a great market for weapons and the populations of brotherly powerful European nations are eliminating each other from life and their wealthy lands. What if the one common enemy is playing the leaders of both sides? What if neither Russian nor Ukrainian leaders have their nations’ best interests at heart? One cannot just start a war, it has to be well orchestrated so no one would suspect a foul play.

    The Soviet Union strategy during WWII was to create lots and lots of low quality units. At the end of the war they straight up stopped replacement completely grinding combat units down to the nub in time for victory. The Idea there is that you always have a fresh reserve available. Maybe that's what Ukraine is going for trying to rely on Western industrial base to gain a manpower advantage through higher mobilization rate.
