Everything you need to know about Dogday in Poppy Playtime Chapter 3!
The original script had a lot more abt the Spanish Inquisition, but it felt a little disrespectful and I wasn't confident I had the facts straight. Apparently Protestants spread a false narrative of how brutal the inquisition really was to smear the reputation of the Catholic Church, and that false narrative is what most English nations teach as truth.

Prototype and catnap killed the others but since Dogday was the strongest and the leader he survived but they were too strong after little toys came so thats how Dogday lost and tortured but I don't think cat nap can really go up against Dogday on his own

One thing that disturbs me the most is dog day's screaming in the voice lines. You can also see that dog day in the first line says something about fetch which I think he's trying to say to the other smiling critters "get out of this place". Also what disturbs is when dog day screams. Also his scream is longer than all the smiling critters. Also it looked like catnap and the prototype knew dog day was telling them to leave so they punish him by cutting his legs off you can also hear it falling.

It's possible that William only possessed Springtrap much later down the line. And at the point he kept coming back, he basically had no soul. Dogday had to watch his friends die and had his legs ripped off and was stuck for a decade. Then, the Smiling Critters climbed under his skin and ate away at his insides, then puppeteered his corpse.

didnt william’s daughter die so he grieved so much to the point of where he went on a murder spree, then his other child was severely injured to the brink of death (or straight up died) only for him to then endure gruesome pain when springlocked and rot for decades, still alive but barely?
edit: alright so both william *and* dogday went through horrible pain. however, dogday's suffering wasnt deserved while william's was. conclusion? fuck if i know, william's lore is too vague and confusing to make a definitive decision on "who had the most pain" in terms of physical suffering only.

A creepy fact I noticed. Is that is main pose in the cutouts, is him in the air with his arms out. Just we see him in game.
Also in the cartoon, his legs are covered up. Which when we find him, are missing.

Also, in his cutout, when he screams, its much longer and background noises sound like splattering of blood and a thud. this could be what it was like when they ripped off his legs, the thud being his body hitting the floor,

I wish there was more scenes of DogDay, like being able to get him out of there before the dolls crawl inside to eat him. Only for catnap to drag him away into gas at an elevator with Dogday screaming the entire time until theres an abrupt stop, followed by an are getting tossed in front of you.

Idk know if you guys know this but at the first scene where all the smiling critters were put to sleep by catnap dogdays legs were covered by a blanket and his arms were resting on the sofa like he was chained up and his face was down and his ears were covering it like how he was when we find him in the game, arms chained up with missing legs head is down and his ears are covering his face, hes also the only one in the sofa with catnap.
(I dont know if this was a foreshadowing on what happened to him but its cool for me)
Dog day has a deep backstory. When you go into playhouse and click on dog days button on his cardboard cutout, he’ll say a couple sentences. At the end of most cardboard cut outs, you can hear them screaming. At the end of dog days lines, he starts screaming. However, this scream is way longer than any other scream. The reason he’s screaming for so long is because his legs are being cut off as a punishment from telling coworkers to leave playtime co as in one of his voice lines he says “Dog Day says, Fetch! Go go as far as you can!” That is referring for us to run and leave playtime co. So the prototype tortured him by cutting his legs off. In his scream, you can hear his legs being cut off and then hitting the ground.
Fun fact: if u hear the dog day carbbored cutout u hear the prototype slicing dogdays legs

He says all the critters are dead, but Ollie sounds like the green rabbit, and his name is highlighted in the same green as said rabbit, plus all his knowledge of playcare.
Either that or it could just be the Prototype using the voice to trick the player. Since the Prototype has been shown to copy voices.

Well I get the adult thing but he’s a kid. If u remember, one of the scientists explained the “big bodies” experiments. How they used children from the orphanage for the smiling critters. We also remember that dogdays voice box is broken, explaining the deep voice. Maybe dogday had a great vocabulary, if not I can’t really explain the expressive words.

so, dogday was the last of the smiling critters because catnap was jealous and wanted him to suffer (Because dogday was the leader). all of the smiling critters are human children that went over some weird surgery making their consiousness inside of a doll, Elliot (Which you can assume is Ollie because Ollie Rearanged is lliot missing the E, but also OlLIE has Lie in it soooo idk) . but thats pretty much all I know!

I believe that the kids turned into the smiling critters still were able to grow up since they’re in a living body, so I’m pretty sure that’s why his voice was an adult voice since it has been 10 years so
theory: I think the reason why DogDay sounds like an adult is because of how long he’s been trapped at playtime co. And aged during his presence there.

I think dog day sounds like an adult because the kids souls actually grow up and sound different
My theory is that while the surgeries and operations required to turn kids (and some adults in that one bron case) into toys does stop them from changing and ageing PHYSICALLY they still age MENTALLY which is why dogday sounds so grown compared to his cutout voice. Most big bodies initiative were children, even mommy long legs, so i think it's not impossible for them to sort of grow (in a traumatizing and twisted sort of way).
I also believe that catnap wasn't always so skeletal and thats he's actually starving. I doubt that how he looks in the game wouldn't have scared kids, especially when caretakers would bring him in the house to use the gas on them.

It is likely that Dogday was a counselor for the children of the Playcare orphanage which would most likely include Theodore(A.k.a The kid who got turned into Catnap)
And the reason why Catnap imprisoned Dogday to torture him, is likely because he felt betrayed, seeing as his counselor, the person he was supposed to trust, wasn't going along with his plans and even confronted him. So he left Dogday chained as a food bait for the Mini Critters

Fun facts that are not fun: In dogday’s Carbondale cutout he’s scream is much longer than the other smiling critters. And in that scream you can hear his legs get cut off and fall to the ground.
I think Dogday was a kid too but they have all grown up mentally. It’s sad what happened to Theodore (Catnap) but he and the prototype were trying to protect the children by destroying the company.

I never got into Poppy Playtime, but chapter 3 is genuinely really good, i love how it doesn't try to soften it's content in order to not scare younger audiences away, the game is meant to be scary and it's great to see that coming from the mascot horror scene, i love how it commited to the Dogday death scene by just y'know, doing it and not having it offscreen or just not showcased at all, sure it's gruesome and dark coming from the past two entries, but also that's what horror is supposed to do, it's not meant to be soft just for an audience demographic

Maybe dogday tried to get the other critters to fight back against the prototype which is why he called himself a heretic. That probably explains why Catnap decided to slowly torture him instead of killing him.

I think that Rich from the recordings is Dogday. The voice is similar. We’ve heard recordings from Rich multiple times and he said he wished the kids deserved better. Maybe they thought he was a threat and turned him into dogday?
