Good job will. Sorry to hear about another dog attack. It must be a worry every time you go out to check them. People should be more responsible with their dogs.
Hi Will, great video, I bought a battery set of clippers for dagging, wouldn't go back to clippers with lead for dagging. Also if you get a sheep with fly strike in field you can sort her there with out bringing her in.
Sorry to hear about the dog attacks on your sheep Will. I've had working dogs for most of my life, Springers and lurchers mainly, and one of the earliest and strictest training regimes, is about making them steady around all domestic farm stock. It's not that difficult. You keep them on a tight leash as you walk through, for example, a flock of sheep, and you observe them very carefully. You're looking for them to show any signs of interest at all in the flock that you are walking through, and any interest shown, is met with an immediate and firm response from you the owner. You pull them up sharply on the leash whilst commanding firmly "No", at the same time, maybe, tapping them lightly on the nose with a rolled-up newspaper or light branch. They soon realise, that farm stock are not to be touched under any circumstances. No wonder it frustrates the hell out of you Will and shame on all irresponsible dog owners.
Regarding dog attacks , the trouble is we now ,even in rural areas , have a population that is totally alienated from rural life and know nothing about either farming or wildlife . My nephews farm on the Wiltshire downs , and get no end of grief from walkers with and without dogs . My nephew once shot a dog that was worrying sheep . He phoned the police to say what had happened and shortly afterwards an armed police unit arrived at the farm . Turned OK in the end though , as he had done nothing wrong
Grass is always greener..thats what sheep think when they don't go the way you want them to 😄, great video. I've only seen battery hand clippers, never one that goes on car battery, still haven't been brave enough to buy one to do dragging myself
