Love these machines! Been on the hunt for one forever. It’s definitely quieter than my 3500D but the soft start quirk is definitely interesting. This was the LiftMaster I fell in love with and made me a diehard enthusiast until they went to shit.
My guess for the weird soft stop is the logic board, those motors used chopper control which turns the motor off and on at a specific frequency to control speed In that case it’s supposed to go at the power frequency, but the logic board’s probably not keeping up with it
My grandparents have 1 next time I go there I will check and see if the motor even isn't AC cause it sounds like an AC motor and if it is an AC motor it must be extremely rare
@@TBHD724 You might actually have a point because I haven't been there in a couple of years and my mind is picturing a belt drive AC motor with that kind of case

There isn't an AC belt drive that looks like this

They did have AC screw drives that had the same type of case as these. That might be what they have
