      He has the talent and should in my opinion have no problems finding work after Vikings. He isn't an educated actor though, so that might be a problem.

      @@ducksauce9187 For some reason, TV seems to be more political than film. You can be the biggest star ever on a TV show but maybe never get another TV role. If you do sometimes it could take years. Travis Fimmel just signed on to do a new TNT show produced by Ridley Scott called Raised By Wolves. I think they are supposed to start filming in the next few months.

      In general I'm surprised at how well everyone pronounces "skål" in Vikings. I'm Danish and to me it sounds perfect, even from the native English speakers. "Ragnar" however, that's different situation 😂

    I love listening to multilingual people speak. There are actually slight personality differences that occur from language to language, and you can actually see that very much in Alex, I think. A little less so in Marco and Ida, but it's still noticeable. Wonderful interview, and wonderful work translating to whomever did that. Thank you for posting this!

    • @jensravn90
      @jensravn90 6 років тому +7

      Viking is more or less a word we gave them, it means Pirate, they described it as "vik" which means "bay" or "shore"
      and yes it is old Norse that is the true "Viking language" but still, all northern languages are descended from old Norse, Icelandic is closest. There were still differences in the accent depending on from which part of Scandinavia you were from. call it Viking if you will, i can understand why it would sound the same for you.

    Apologies if this is a stupid question but I've noticed that in some of their names there is an "o" with a line through it. Is there a meaning to this please? Also I've noticed that when this occurs if there was an "e" next to it, this disappears in their name, is there a link between the two? I hope I've made sense with this 😄? Thank you.

      We have 3 extra vocals in danish æ(ae), ø(oe) and å(aa). ø is probably the hardest to pronounce to foreigners but I think it would sound something like the "i" in birthday. Norwegian has got the same vocals since it used to be under danish rule for many years
