The UK's traffic light system regulation was never designed to work any better than the sugar tax which just allows companies to now sell artificially sweetened drinks instead and even pass them off as "healthy". All the regulations and laws implemented as being in the interest of the health of the public are actually just to make more money.
The problem is that all of these warning labels are designed in conjunction with the food manufacturers. If they don't like it, it doesn't pass muster, and they don't adopt it. Pointless exercise. We need a system where they're TOLD that THIS is THE system (whatever it is) and if you want to sell stuff in the UK, you WILL adopt it!
@@andymoss3011 Even if they do adopt it it's pretty meaningless. Most of them use it to "prove" their food is healthy like with diet coke or cereals. It's the rules that govern what is healthy that are wrong. We need the black hexagons Chris talks about that tell us whether something is UPF or not. Then as you say, they should have to use it, it should not be a choice.
