In the show, they tested it with an IR heating lamp, so it was easy to reflect the heat source back (at least with the silver version). If they would have done it with an oven, it would have failed.

I don't understand the use case for this product... you can't use it while it's in it. There are waterproof bags that let you use your phone still.

  • @yeeyeeass

This product seems to border on the concept of making a solution for a problem that doesn’t exist. It can’t protect against heat, which is arguably worse than the cold. It survived the drop test, but a good phone case will do that and let you use your phone. The bag does let your phone float in water, but there are products that are both water tight AND float. The only time you’d use that feature is when near a body of water, and putting your phone (with a case on it) into a water tight container isn’t new. Why settle for something that just floats when you can get both?
As for the cold, perhaps someone may find a use case for it, but where would the vast majority of us go where we can’t use the body heat from our leg while the phone is in our pocket to keep it warm enough for use?

Totally agrree. I live in the Arctic where I am outside in -30c temps all the time during winter, so arguably, I should have a use for it. In reality, I just keep my phone in the inside pocket of my parka, nice and warm. I cant even think of a reason to use the Phoozy case instead of my pocket. Useless.

I have had several cases that my phone has died after a few clicks because of the cold, even when the phone has been "warm" inside a breast pocket. Unless the phone is pretty much brand new and 100% battery at the start and not more tha few hours of a trip, the issue can arise relatively easily.

The only thing I could think of was maybe a sled dog musher. In every other scenario I could think of, there are much better products out there, that leave you phone still useable.

That's because phones create heat as long as they're on. Usually, that's not a problem because it just dissipates, but the Foozy traps the heat and just make a tiny oven using your phone as the heat source. That's why it will work great in the cold... The phone will create the heat to battle the cold and the Foozy will insulate it.

I’m having a hard time thinking of how this product would be useful.
You can’t use your phone while it is in that thing. Not sure how you’d drop it in the case. I’m assuming if you put it in this case it’s for safe keeping, so not nearly as likely to drop it.
I guess if you are white water rafting, it might be something to store your phone in. But they make waterproof pouches that a see through so you can still use the phone in the pouch.
Maybe if you’re a winter hunter/trekker it would help protect it in your coat from the cold while your mushing your sled dogs?
Even though it passed all of the tests except the heat test, I don’t think I’d keep this thing even if someone gave it to me. It just seems it’s use cases are just too small to be useful.

And for those reasons...I'M OUT 😄
I don't remember that product so I can't remember if they got a deal. I'll look it up. I only remember the truly monumental ones...this was not 😀
Edit: I found it on UA-cam...yes, Lori and Robert both went into a royalty agreement together. The people who made it didn't even do a drop test on the show, just the hot, cold, and water test. And they made it look like the hot test worked (but they only used a heat lamp for a few minutes).
Here's what I think now...if you're accident prone and might drop your phone from a great hight, just don't lean over your balcony 🤣.
It's most useful if you like the beach or pools. Otherwise just secure your phone and you won't need it.

Or, better - 20 C = 68 F (aka, room temperature). That gives you a sense of scale when you're thinking "how hot is that".
      To make this even easier - 30 C = 86 F. 40 C = 104 F
      Fun fact - 95 F (his first temp) is a perfect 35 C.

It seems pointless to me, if it's supper hot outside your not going to be sitting out in the sun with your phone, how often are you going to be using your phone in freezing temperatures?, if your going to be out by the water and don't plan on using your phone you would leave it in the car or in a water proof storage, as for the drop test how often are you going to be high in the air playing with your phone? It's a useless product

Living in Florida the heat resistance is necessary, but not the cold resistance.
I use an Otter Box and that works fine for drop protection, which means that water protection is all I need.
The wife found these three dollar plastic cases which are not only water resistant and float, but since they're clear, mean you can use the phone without removing it, which I view as a major drawback.
Personally, I've always just put my phone in a ten cent ziplock bag at the beach, pool and when out on the boat - that's 100% water proof as well - but the three dollar plastic case is nice since it has a lanyard.
All said, while the Phoozy might not be a ripoff, it's definitely a waste of money, especially since you have to take it out in order to use it, meaning that if you're close enough to water to drop it in, you could very well drop it in while fumbling around trying to get it out of the floating case...which isn't water proof anyway.

I put my Galaxy s6(not water resistant) in 2 ziploc bags with the double seals and then played around in the water for 20 minutes at Mrytle Beach and the sea water got in there and ruined it.

Hmm... I see that this is more of a pouch to store your phone. It does offer some protection on drop test and float test, which is impressive, but I don't think it can help your phone withstand extreme temperature.

If ithat's an iPhone 8 Plus , drop tests are expected as they are , since 6s/6s Plus , these phones were built like tanks , while being super thin.
I was expecting some overhyped 360° case , but I saw a pouch which was mediocre to me.

I've dropped my SE (2nd Generation) on several hard surfaces, concrete mostly. No issues. The only thing that cracked the screen was my second toe. Legitimately insane, but somehow that is what did it. Mostly about where it impacted on the corner, I'm sure, but of all the things to cause it to actually crack, I couldn't believe it.

That's why I don't wanna get rid of my 6s , and all it has are two smapp pin alike scuffs on righr corner. And it fell several times straight on screen and no scratches , only Touch ID stopped working and wont activate anymore. I do carry it in case , but , don't have protective glass on front. Awesome stuff.

It seems like an "almost practical" product. Maybe if the case had a thin layer of reflective mylar (the stuff used on space blankets) built under the surface, it might handle heat better. Also, there's no excuse for this thing letting water in like that; a fold-over velcro closing system plus a basic water-resistant material would be protective enough for a minute or two, long enough to fish the pouch out of the water.
Neither one of the things I just mentioned would be expensive additions, either. Especially considering those pouches are like 35-40 dollars as it is, which is pricey. For that cost, I'd expect the outside to be rip-stop, waterproof nylon.

I feel like it should be white as black absorbs light which in theory would make it hotter and white reflects light so in theory it would be cooler.
But they are out to make money not do real world testing. I bet their tests were very basic and not very scientific.
    Thanks for the video!
