I saw the car go onto the side and thought the worst was about to happen but she managed to keep it in one piece and won. I've seen cars crash and burn after hitting the wall. Truly a spectacular win. The car survived and the Driver won after ending up on the side
If you slow it down to .25x speed at 2:24 it looks like there is a slight hump in the track at the dark strip running perpendicular to the track causing a bounce. It looks like he shredded his blower belt at the exact time he went over the hump. Watch his head drop/bounce after the second dark strip at 2:24. It looks like the hump is worse at the outer edge of the track where she was and looked like her tires expand and bounce as she goes over it. If she was correcting away from the wall as she went over the hump, the back tires almost bouncing would cause the front of her car to steer while the back would sway, causing the crash, especially if her tire pressure was too low, which it looked to be by the way her back end was swaying back and forth at take-off. That’s what it looked like to me.
I saw the come move like the tire may have scrubbed it but it could also just be she got so close to it she is going 250mph and it could have been the wind. No way they would ever call that a dq. Congrats to her she took out the champ and really didnt hurt the car to bed. Very lucky, got a feeling ahe will be corrected for over driving it but no harm no foul. Congrats to her! I got mad respect she is in a blown alcohol car and not in a boring ass TAD nitro dragster.
I was just waiting for the car to fold in half and I've seen a lot of alcohol crashes over the years and such but I am so happy she got a win against Severance and also, I don't know, it seems like every part of that chassis is perfectly reusable except for maybe wheels and some carbon fiber, I cannot believe how well that road on the wall like that, she did an incredible job of staying out of his Lane and even though it got on its side still was able to turn the wheel and then it all worked itself out. Absolutely incredible!! I don't want to see anybody have an accident but if they do this is probably one of the most spectacular outcomes you can have with very minimal damage, wild wild wild!
Maybe some floor scraping near the rear end, the tips of the exhaust pipes, and probably hear right rear rim. If that safety way was any taller, she wouldn't have the floor damage. She didn't lift until she pulled the chute to straighten herself out. I want to see the in-car camera.
I bet of all the ways she envisioned winning her first race, she did not envision it being like that. Glad she's ok. Even funnier, it was the very back of the parachute that caught the finish line block, not the parachute itself.
Most people prefer racing with all 4 tires in contact with ground... but heck a win is a win. This will be a story she can tell her kids years from now.
I live so close, its so sad i personally know hundreds +++of people who want to go watch but, cant..... I got to go once when i was a kid... just a shame...all those empty seats. .fence line is blacked out so, some years we sit on the sidewalk with the big crowd across the street just to listen ... feel the power.. ... I always wanted to take my dad.. crazy $300.00 per head ticket price....dad had 8 of us kids $3100 to take the fam just ridiculous ..so i knew it was an automatic no way growing up... strip just sits empty most the year...10s of 1000s of cool car guys around SoCal all bummed we cant make runs here.. Such a waste of historic place. we would pack this place every Friday Saturday night...
wait, $300 a ticket??? I've never been to Pomona, but every time I go to an NHRA National (E-town back in the day, or these days at Maple Grove or Norwalk), tickets are always around $60... Where did you see $300 ticket prices?? Unless you're talking the VIP seats or something???? I always buy the cheap seats, not that I ever sit down, only time I ever sit is when I'm eating some food, as I'm usually always standing at the wall right at the tree, best spot in the house. Never heard of $300 tickets before...
Yes, it looks like the stands were 1/3 full at most. I look at the current president, at one of his biggest events all year, dressed like a fan when Wally Parks always had on a coat and tie. I know the clothes he wears aren't the most important thing but the stands are mostly empty for the World Finals in Los Angeles! This should be a full house. I was there for Friday qualifying and the attendance was poor. Does NHRA need new leadership?
@@ratmousebastard sorry i was thinking for the whole event...but didn't write as such... Got to go all 3 days! todays price was $68 up to $99 for GA in WN 1977' qualifying day was $9, pit pass was $3, +inflation
@@danoc51 they seem out of touch....when i cruse dads 57 belair to the NHRA museum, they smile let me hang around the parking lot... if I'm in my modern Nissan turbo car the cops show up and move me along...
@@TheRoulette77 ah, ok... that makes sense... Well, in that case, damn cheap.. I mean, have you been to any sports events or concerts or amusement parks or anything in the past 30+ years? They cost several hundred dollars at the bare minimum for one ticket, and sometimes into the thousands (a friend of mine just took his kids to DisneyWorld, and he practically had to take a 2nd mortgage out on his home). Drag racing is the cheapest entertainment around, even the NHRA Nationals are dirt cheap compared to pretty much everything. Even as a racer, I hear fellow racers complain about their $40 entry fees (local track stuff) and it boggles my mind that anyone can complain about it, it's so damn cheap. I've always wanted to get into road racing too, but track days are like $250 for 2 hours... which is way out of my league, but for $40 or $50 I can go drag racing, and if I get lucky and actually go a bunch of rounds, I could be there all day and deep into the night... Hell, going to the market for a little basket of food costs me $100 every time I go... drag racing has to be the cheapest thing out there these days, even comparing it to the old days, no wonder tracks are hurting so much, they don't charge enough IMO.
In the slo-mo I see the rear tire on the line before the block so I call DQ, and another bad call from the nhra. There is hella dual lock or velcro holding that block in place, so she hit it for sure, just not hard enough to dislodge. And of course it's always best if you lift before you get so far out that your driving in the marbles. I'm sure glad that nobody got hurt.
Great job. A first win she'll never forget 👏👏👍it's awesome woman in nhra compete, win championships and kick men's butts. Nascar for some reason can't get women to get to the level of nhra women.
Well that certainly is a spectacular way to win a National Event. Congratulations to Taylor Vetter
CONGRATS Taylor! You did it in STYLE!!!
Awesome win…congratulations Taylor
Congratulations Taylor 🏆🎉🎉🎉 What an exciting way to WIN!!!🏆🌟🎉🎉🎉
Ain't ashamed to admit that Lady is a hell of a lot tougher than I will ever be lol. She held that car on the track be pure force of will I swear.

Wow that was some quick reflexes and some fine driving that little gal pulled off there. Much respect!
Where?
Be safe out there. We lost our home town hero some years ago at RMR in Utah. Susie Wells . Driving a blown Alcohol ride.

What a spectacular win! Beating the world champ with the car sliding on its side. That's one for the books!
She dodged a bazooka shell on that call, but still, an awesome win for Taylor, and to beat Joey Severance for her 1st one, that's huge
Actually she dodges a little piece of foam LOL 🤣
2:23 Joey looks like his blower belt cut. Looks like he had some internal parts trying to be externals
Wow! She really stayed in it like that! Crazy lady got her first Wally though. Congrats to her. Luckily it worked out this time.
Congrats Taylor!!! What a wild way to win!!!
Wow ! What a way to win ! Congratulations Taylor.
Very Special!!!!!
Congratulation.
Glad she's OK!
What a wild ride but congratulations to her on her first win.

Heck of a way to get your first Wally.
Was watching from down on the fence line and all I can say was she hooked right and the wheels went up😂
That couldn't have turned out any better... that car drove the Wall ... crazy!! Is this Vetter as in Vetter/Faria farms?
Glad she's ok, and from the looks of it the car isn't hurt badly at all
WOW wtg Taylor!!!:great job 1/1 in finals!!

Glad to see she is OK. Fortunately the car didn't roll over. Thats what you call winning in a "chute out. "
(groan...) Don't quit your day job, but definitely take a bow for that one. 🤣🤣
@@maxsdad538 You gotta love dad jokes.
Great job driving Missy, congratulations on the win. Are you trying to upstage John Force?
AWESOME- GIRL POWER
Looked like the chute missed it also. Just the wind got it.
!st win memory, wow and glad she didnt get hurt and dragster didnt look to bad.
the end of the video looks more like the wind from the parachute move the cone and not the chute itself.
Crossed the finish with her chute deployed and still beat the 5 time world champ. Very nice.
That's getting it done! Congratulations to her and her team!
Reminds me of Maverick landing at the end of TOPGUN Maverick (F-14)....
As long as she is ok all is good.
Will make for a wild story to tell the grandkids how grandma won her first Wally lol.
Just SENT IT!
First nascar. Now this 😂 wall riding is the new meta
Glad your ok, race cars can be fixed or replaced ,you cannot! You'll race another day!
that's what you call winning in style just glad it didn't keep rolling
Safe to say the scratches on the right front wheel cannot be buffed out.😂
My only question is does the win cover the damage to the car. Two lost tires+wheels compromised frame header and the labor to put it all back right?
I doubt the purse from the win covers the cost to fix the car but at least she got the trophy and an off-season to fix it

Man, you'd think they'd run some higher framerate cameras on the line now days.
Especially with the speeds constantly pulled, lots lost per frame.
she won't forget that one
Is driving on the wall against the rules😄👍🇺🇸
Not in the shutdown area, apparently lol
The announcer was on it for her. He knew the rules tho
looks like the chute did not touch that block, the air pressure from the chute knocked it over, or sucked it down the track
The chute didn't catch the block, the air from the chute caught the block.Look at it again in super slowmo.
That was a great alcoholic race!!!!
Congradulations
Funny thing is the chute never hit the block either.
That's my niece. Woo hoo
She is Awesome!
If you’re going to win your first ever, you might as well do so in spectacular fashion lol.

Except touching the line isn’t a DQ. The tire has to go over the line, which it didn’t. It was the correct call.
@@craigcook1350 Except the timing block WAS obviously (we see it on tape) hit by the rear tire and that's the DQ, bad call, go read the rules.
