    When laptops die and go to heaven, they meet Andrew.

    • @ForrestPump
      @ForrestPump 3 роки тому +13

      @@SimplyTheSloth Most of the time these refurbished laptops go for too high of a price, but any lower will not return their profit. I think it's good if it's a DiY situation tho. Getting your hands on one of these old hardwares and fixing it yourself is definitely better than buying a chromebook.

    Wow, never thought i will see combination of laptop motherboard, wood, fake "concrete" and paper binder. I Don´t know if i like it... because i absolutely love it. You basically turned trash into art, art with real function which is absolutely amazing.

  • @sirtanon1
    @sirtanon1 3 роки тому +37

    When i saw the clear plexiglass and the LED lights, my first thought was that you were going to create some sort of internal glow panel to back the motherboard. Would love you see you do something like that in the future.. Still, what you ended up making definitely looks very cool and stylish, and I like it a lot. Very nicely done.

    Did you try reseating the CPU? Or switching around the ram? Or modifying clamp pressure on the cooling / checking the pins on the motherboard? There may have been contact problems that caused one of the ram sticks not being picked up...

      @@KableTdi sometimes when a cpu "mount" goes wrong, or is installed improperly (such as the tension on the screws and pattern used to tighten) the cpu wont make proper contact with the pins of the motherboard. This is a much bigger problem in LGA style chips such as intels desktop mounting or AMD's threadripper, the overall size of the chip also comes into play here making it harder to get a proper mount. Tiny differences in the flatness of the heat spreader and the cooler you are using also play into this.

    I have made a Wifi modem pc, i took apart a broken laptop and build the motherboard and other components (wifi and bluetooth, ssd and speakers) into an old plastic wifi case, it has a low power celeron inside which is passively cooled, so its dead silent! The wifi modem has small holes in both sides and its sits vertically, so sound and warm air can pass through, it gets around 47 degrees celcius in there, which is quite cool for a pc. I mounted a LED in place where the old wifi modem led whas. It looks so nice!

    Only thing I'd have done differently was installed mSATA SSD (there was a slot for mSATA SSD) and then traditional disk for data.
    Might have also added an optical drive for completeness.
