Tip💡: make sure you uncheck the "Current Layer Only" option of the Crop Tool when you're done using it to return to cropping all layers of your composition with the tool. This will help you avoid confusion when you use this tool in a future session.

Thanks. I was confused between the crop tool and the Image->crop to selection menu option. They seem to be different!? Using the crop tool it worked!
