The Sevika and Smeech scene is probably one of the most fun fight scenes I've seen in years. It's not just that it has the incredible animation we've come to expect from Arcane, but there is also creativity just oozing out of every second of the scene. The concept of the arm itself just elevates this scene tenfold, but all of the variants of the arm and the way the animation and particularly the music convey the energy just makes me giddy watching it.
Something of note about the Jayce, Ekko, and Heimerdinger part of the episode: Jayce and Ekko have already met. Ekko's the one who sold Jayce his stuff in season one (without the letter haggling), then told Vi, Powder, and the rest where to find Jayce's lab, thus kickstarting the plot of Arcane.
I just wanna leave this here in case you didn't figure it out on episode 3, the gas DOES kill people. Its not just knock out, it damages the lungs and skin, its incredibly dense and toxic, its why enforcers wear gas masks even in season 1 when they go to the undercity and its the reason for Viktor's sickness, since he grew up around it.
IIRC it's the same stuff Silco uses to make his point when he's in the meeting in S1. It almost killed Finn before he was given the mask in a matter of minutes. It's bad enough that even *with* the ventilation systems in use (S1), the enforcers still needed the gas masks. Like, even when the air quality was improved, it still was terrible. It's a bit surprising that there aren't more people with similar illnesses.
26:14 Remember that chronic condition that was slowly killing Victor? Jayce suspected that one possibility for his illness was growing up near the gasses of Zaun. So, while not immediately killing Zaunites, Caitlyn and crew are subjecting Zaunites to horrific fates for the sake of their own revenge. Not exactly a good idea

@@LettsReact weirdly enough i think yalls reasonings are the reasons vi would've agreed to it even though we never got that scene but i imagine she either got convinced by cait that way or convinced herself through those reasons. Although imma be honest thats def a issue with the 3 act structure there not being able to fit every little detail in but still it wouldve been nice to hear how vi wouldve been convinced of a gas shes and everyone around her have been suffering from all their life and knows about it, using it on her own people just seems fully out of character. And sadly it cant even be said she didnt know cause she was there fighting alongside it. So yeah thats really my best guess is that she figured it would be less causalities then letting the enforcers go into a place where the people would def fight back.
Vi smudging the tattoos was discussed in the Reddit and the conclusion I saw was that it was more of a representation for identity crisis vibes but everyone loves the indication of arcane characters getting up and doing their makeup everyday like silco in season 1
in the last episode when Jayce infused the hexcore with Viktor there’s a few frames where we can see the x-ray of his skeleton and his spine is completely severed in 2. that combined with how far jayce had to carry viktor to their lab, Viktor was most likely dead before the even got to the lab
"Have you had enough?" Is what Silco said the voice inside his head said as he was being drowned by Vander. :( On Jinx's prognosis mentally. She 100% has schizophrenia. My girlfriend actually has it and has said what she goes through when she has problems is a lot like what Jinx goes through. Seeing and hearing auditory hallucenations. Being in your own world seperate from reality. She also has some sort of bipolar or depression i would say for sure. On top of PTSD. You can broadly categorize it as Psychosis too
Jinx definitely has an aura of disassociation and depression in these first few episodes this season. The voices in her head have quieted ("it's so quiet, what am I supposed to do with that"?) and she's had a little time to reinforce to herself the notion that no matter what she does, she'll always be a jinx to any and everyone. She's in a different kind of psychosis now; one that is a bit deeper and darker which makes her all the more dangerous.
The wolf that Singed was experimenting on was mutated. It had two heads, two hearts, and twin hearts. It is his whole MO to create effectively warcrimes, so ya...buckle up
Murkwolves can "naturally" mutate to the two headed form, which is also bigger, stronger, and faster than the typical Murk Wolf, often called the Greater Murk Wold. They're a monster from the game. League actually low-key has a amazing world building lore.
Man, I wish Smeech had stuck around. He was WAAAAY too fun and visually interesting of a character to be done like that. R.I.P. Smeech. You were my favorite crackhead weasel. 😔
if they dont end up retconning yordle lore to fit arcane technically both heim and smeech should be chilling together in bandle city as they are spirits and when their physical bodies die they basically just respawn in that place as their essence leaves their body and goes there. How long it takes we dont know and whether smeech would respawn like with all his limbs back to metal or if he would appear as he first was when he first spawned basically very similar to heim a fluffy creature. no idea either tbf yordles dont die often. Also one thing i really hope they explore if they ever do like a side series on the yordles is like why smeech is so angry cause besides a few exceptions (mostly being the depressed yordle) most yordles are joyful happy creatures so i do wonder what turned him so dark hed leave that place tear off his limbs and replace them with metal? And if it was an accident or something why didnt he just go back to bandle city to like get his limbs back? My best guess if im assuming lore reasons is they called him a half yordle first time weve ever heard that so maybe for some reason hes not allowed back into bandle city or cant go back idrk tbf. Basically tldr smeech makes no sense but would make sense if they retconned most of the lore for yordles and that scares me heavily.
In the scene where Jinx is hiding in the rafters and almost got caught, i think this is a call back to season one where the kids were hiding in the rafters of Vander's bar when Marcus came looking for them. Except this time it's Vi wearing the uniform
-Not played for that long, but let's do it anyway. Get Jinxed Lyrics (written and vocalized Agnete Kjølsrud from Djerv.): Wanna join me? The beast that Singed trapped and killed was a two-headed wolf, or probably more accurately two conjoined wolves. That's how he was able to trap "both" with the one beartrap. The last shot showing the heart shows that it's really two conjoined hearts.
Regarding this phrase, "someone put all this holes to you." It happened at the moment of her rushing from Powder to Jinx and when Silko wanted to shoot Vi, Powder took over and protected her sister. After that, she decided to let Powder die and finally become Jinx. After all, it was Powder who killed everyone who was dear to her. And this fact is very important for the future of the plot
It seems a bit more like since she was already in a state of psychosis from Vi, so being in such a state triggered her fight or flight to kick in. Basically, she wasn't defending Vi specifically. She heard the gun click and shot blindly at the source of the noise. Powder and Jinx are the same person after all, and she already believed that Powder was dead before this ("Stop calling me that. It's Jinx now, Powder fell down a well."). That being said, she's definitely dissociating and trying to disassociate/distance herself from killing Silco, so maybe internally she does believe that she's "Jinx" now and "Powder" killed him and everyone else.
@@smilenf2301 You'd have to ask Jinx herself lol. She said it herself, not me. Besides we get in season 2 "Jinx is dead." It's a reflection of her mental state more than anything else I'd say. Essentially, she's taken on a new name to reflect how she feels and to distance herself from who she used to be. "Powder" could never "come back" nor can "Jinx" ever leave. She's been traumatized, but she's still one person with one "personality," that shifts as she takes on new experiences, just like any other person. She just so happened to give that trauma a name.
@@echo_thebatdragon6943 You don't fully understand the concept of madness. The split personalities of Powder and Jinx have been clearly shown numerous times. Powder would look for a sister, Jinx would do everything for herself. Powder would help her sister on the bridge, Jinx would burn everyone. Powder would give the weapon to Caitlin, Jinx would blow up the council. And so on. In every situation, we were shown that she was choosing a side, not just making a decision. A second of thought before jumping into Silko's arms. Trying to convince herself that Vi is still on her side before blowing up everyone on the bridge. And a complete break in the final scene of the first season. "Jinx is Dead" is her logical conclusion to the conflict of personalities. Death at the hands of her creator, Vi. Things didn't go according to plan, but she wasn't ready to accept it. In her eyes, Jinx is no longer needed. Jinx is just a tool of destruction. That's why she remained aloof from everything, as if she were dead. And only when the person dear to her was in danger, she realized that Jinx was still needed, because only Jinx could protect Isha. And seeing that she is important not only to Silko and Isha, and that all these people also need protection, she accepts the role of a hero, but remains Jinx. And by saying this, I mean that she is not trying to build peace like Ekko, but to destroy enemies. This is clear from the dialogue with Victor. And when this new Jinx (protector) causes something irreparable, she understands that there is no difference. And only after that she decides to finish what she started. "Jinx is Dead" with her own hands
@@smilenf2301 To say that I do not understand madness is frankly, irreputably false. I've lived with people who suffer from a variety of mental illnesses, both diagnosed and undiagnosed. I've done research in psychology. I myself have DID ("split personalities," a false, surface-level understanding of the disorder). I understand madness. I did not come here to argue. I merely pointed out that reading this as a instance of "split personalities" is pedagogically false, although I see how it could resonate with some. Jinx is a persona, a "alter-ego" if you will. Jinx and Powder are one, and she knows this. If you wish to read it as something else, that's your (and anybody else's) prerogative. You can die on your hill, and I can die on mine, but unless the creators or the content actually confirm one way or the other, there is technically no room to 100% definitively debunk any given fan's theories. This is all meant to be for fun after all, right? Why so defensive?
9:36, All of the "gangs" or gang leaders you see when Sevika gives her speech about the turf wars having to stop are the same "chem barons" that are in season 1 when Silco is "summoned" to a meeting by the chem barons. Then Silco has Sevika release that same gas into the meeting room after the ceiling fan is turned off.
he was emotional he could see the weapon designs for the stuff jayce made for cait then he pulled away. You can rewatch that scene many times and find new stuff all the time
2:30 I think the flashback showing what happens indicates that she does remember and like they said is distancing herself from it! I loved the way Montana said it bc it’s genuinely something you have to consider with jinx when keeping in mind her history and mental states.

To correct the things you said about The Gray. Or "knockout gas" as you guys called it. According to Jayce, that's the thing that is killing Viktor. It is NOT as harmless as you make it sound
@HaydrogenBomb I can definitely see it. Mel is supposed to come next year and when they get around to doing a Zaun themed season, I could see them adding Sevika. The arm can make for some cool abilities
Seeing VI as an enforcer brings me back to the first episode of little Powder singing as the enforcers were shooting at the people of the Zaun. It hurts on how she chose to become that of her nightmares. Her poor mental state that she does feel like a Jinx. HER SISTER WAS USING THE GRAY!!! Victor is JESUS!! It's so funny how everyone automatically thought of that. Join the GLORIOUS EVOLUTION !!!!
The wolves are actually an enemy from the game! A 2 headed wolf enemy, so it was just 1 wolf in the cave so thats why there was only 1 thing in the bear trap
Fun fact, the new opening visuals are based on famous tragedies/ plays. Hamlet (Caitlyn), Les Miserables (Jinx), Phantom of the Opera (Viktor), and Julius Caesar (the Medardas on the couch). Speculate as you will.
So I think the confusion with the wolf is that the wolf singed caught is a murkwolf (a jungle creature from the game) it actually has two heads, so it was just one wolf in the trap but we saw two heads. hope that clears it up a bit
Ofc she is aware that she killed him, she just did because Silco was about to blow Vi´s head at the table. She prioritized her sister over him in that exact moment. Impossible decision indeed, everyone can understand that this girl is still frustrated and mad about a dead person.
Petition for your reaction to the ENEMY music video - it's also animated by Fortiche (so the original animators of Arcane) and provides some really cool context.
What you said about keeping track of the objects in the scene is very true. In this scene you have Jinx's pistol, Sevika's new gacha arm, Jinx's smoke bomb, and the tentacle skewer that Smeech's goon was eating. All of these objects get thrown or dropped places that become significant for the fight later. The tentacle was important because when Jinx was trying to fight off the goon, she stepped on it and slipped like it was a banana in a Nintendo game, throwing her off balance. Also, the gas that Cait's strike team uses is definitely killing people. We saw Margot's goons (the ones in bondage gear) and Jinx choking on the gas. While we didn't see actual corpses, that's definitely lethal. Having each of the chem barons have costume-coded goons is a bit goofy Batman, to me, but that's ok. As far as I know, Margot, the one with bondage gear goons, runs the pleasure/entertainment district. Chross, the old guy with the old timey telephone tattoo, is in charge of intelligence work. Smeech, the 'funny lookin rat', is in charge of Chemtech cybernetics. I think Renni, the one who attacked the memorial in S2E1, was in charge of the Shimmer refineries? No idea what Finn, the guy with the metal jaw who tried to usurp Silco in S1, was in charge of though.
I mean we explicitly didnt see corpses for a reason. Its debilitating over long term but doesnt seem to actually kill people at speed. Like jinx hung a dude upside in it for an indeterminate amount of time and they just took him, gave him a filter, and he sneezed a bit before recovering.
Its pollution that causes difficulty breathing because of its thickness and eye irritation because of its source (factory smog). Over long periods of time it can cause permanent damage but that is by living in it like Victor did when young.
@masonzeo801 I know what it is. I was keeping details only to what has been shown on screen in this reaction series to avoid spoilers. But highly concentrated airborne pollutants can still be lethal. i.e. choking on smoke. If you can't breathe, which is one of the symptoms shown in this episode, you'll eventually die. It may not be "one breath and you're dead" poison gas, but its not knockout gas either. I dont think Viktor was living inside a cloud of the Gray in the amount that the strike team is using. I think he, like many Zaunites, was exposed to it over time in smaller concentrations and the caustic gas eroded his lung tissue.
@Daniel-zg5mb Def not knockout gas and I never said that. I just have a problem with you saying that it is definitely killing people. Because we have no evidence of that. The worst people we saw were those that got hit by the gas and the strike team itself. That's why some were against the wall bleeding. They got punched by Vi. Shown by the fact that the next thing the banker sees is Vi in the smog.
its just nitpiking and i didnt really notice when i watched the episode, but a jiny barly makes it out if the house with the enforces and directly has that fight with Sevika and Smeech. Kinda strange Vi/caitlyn and team didnt notice.
I knew Victor was going to become the wizard! Their partnership in the beginning seemed to be so small of a plot point, i knew his story had to be bigger.

@@CrazeeAdam We don't need to know that it's the Grey, nor exactly what the Grey is to put 2 and 2 together given that the same episode gas is used against Zaunites also features a Zaunite who was dying from gas exposure in his youth. Hence why I didn't call it the Grey
Jinx saying Sevika's arm was something she could fix right after that fight.
This show just loves to gut you at every single opportunity it gets.
"The Gray" or the gas is definitly toxic. So relising it in Zaun and Vi allowing it is so messed up. Sorry is there are grammar mistakes jajaja.
Ur totally right, I thought since Vi agreed to it it was just knockout gas, but knowing how damaging it is now this method was NOT ok
So yeah thats really my best guess is that she figured it would be less causalities then letting the enforcers go into a place where the people would def fight back.

jayces mug is yet another factor in proving how overlooked viktor was as jayces partner in creating hextech
in the last episode when Jayce infused the hexcore with Viktor there’s a few frames where we can see the x-ray of his skeleton and his spine is completely severed in 2. that combined with how far jayce had to carry viktor to their lab, Viktor was most likely dead before the even got to the lab
"Have you had enough?"
Is what Silco said the voice inside his head said as he was being drowned by Vander. :(
On Jinx's prognosis mentally.
8:44 remember to save jinx the doc injected her so it’s like permanently in her
The wolf that Singed was experimenting on was mutated.
I knowwww
I love crazy little gremlins
Tbf he's a yordle soooo he's not lost forever
if they dont end up retconning yordle lore to fit arcane technically both heim and smeech should be chilling together in bandle city as they are spirits and when their physical bodies die they basically just respawn in that place as their essence leaves their body and goes there.

Wanna join me?
Come and play
But I might shoot you in your face
Bombs and bullets will do the trick
What we need here is a little bit of panic
Do you ever wanna catch me?
Right now I'm feeling ignored
So can you try a little harder?
I'm really getting bored
Come on, shoot faster
Just a little bit of energy, yeah
I wanna try something fun right now
I guess some people call it anarchy
Let's blow this city to ashes
And see what Pow-Pow thinks
It's such pathetic neatness
But not for long 'cause it'll get jinxed
So much better, so much fun
Let's start from scratch and blow up the sun
Come on, shoot faster
Just a little bit of energy, Yeah
I wanna try something fun right now
I guess some people call it anarchy
Let's blow this city to ashes
And see what Pow-Pow thinks
It's such pathetic neatness
But not for long 'cause it'll get jinxed
Come on
Come on
And get jinxed

37:05 the wolf Singed hunted is just one. Is a Murkwolf from the game, which has 2 heads :3
I can listen to these two theorize all day and not get bored in the slightest
@@echo_thebatdragon6943 if powder was dead, why there was chair with her name?
"maybe itll become clear" as yall are staring at the two headed wolf lmao never change this is srsly why i love yalls reactions.
he was emotional he could see the weapon designs for the stuff jayce made for cait then he pulled away.
Sorry for the delayed comment. Just wanna say that I really appreciate the 47:12 discussion. Seeing you guys talk through plots (especially more involved ones like this) is 1 of my favorite aspects of your reactions :)
To correct the things you said about The Gray. Or "knockout gas" as you guys called it.
According to Jayce, that's the thing that is killing Viktor. It is NOT as harmless as you make it sound
Viktor’s crutch turning into a shepherds crook 👀 also the animation in the sevika fight is incredible
THE SONIC FANDUB CLIP IN THE BEGINNING WAS SUCH A SUCKERPUNCH LMAOOO
That caught me off guard too. That reference came out of nowhere.
31:50 Sevika actually isnt a character, though I wouldn't be surprised if they make her one in the future
They added Ambessa, so why not her?
@HaydrogenBomb I can definitely see it. Mel is supposed to come next year and when they get around to doing a Zaun themed season, I could see them adding Sevika. The arm can make for some cool abilities
Did you notice that when Jinx was making the arm, she was using Clagger's goggles. When she had to hide, she left the goggles and VI found them.
"do it back" ... lol
I've seen petty characters and I've seen characters who aren't petty. But Sevika is anti-petty. Strong... even wise. So interesting.
the wolf had two heads, one with green eyes one with blue, they're called murkwolves
The wolves are actually an enemy from the game! A 2 headed wolf enemy, so it was just 1 wolf in the cave so thats why there was only 1 thing in the bear trap
37:11 it's a two-head wolf
Fun fact, the new opening visuals are based on famous tragedies/ plays. Hamlet (Caitlyn), Les Miserables (Jinx), Phantom of the Opera (Viktor), and Julius Caesar (the Medardas on the couch). Speculate as you will.
“Pretty smart strategy” chemical warfare? 😀
Funny it ended the same way when Germany used the chemical warfare. A strong wind blows back at you...
At this point we thought it just knocked out, now we know this method was NOT ok
@ makes a lot of sense 😆
I mean yes.😅
So I think the confusion with the wolf is that the wolf singed caught is a murkwolf (a jungle creature from the game) it actually has two heads, so it was just one wolf in the trap but we saw two heads. hope that clears it up a bit
Ofc she is aware that she killed him, she just did because Silco was about to blow Vi´s head at the table. She prioritized her sister over him in that exact moment. Impossible decision indeed, everyone can understand that this girl is still frustrated and mad about a dead person.
so funny to call it a "bromance" atp lol
the sonic dub reference 😭😭
23:31 el espíritu del viento
It’s A two headed wolf.
Petition for your reaction to the ENEMY music video - it's also animated by Fortiche (so the original animators of Arcane) and provides some really cool context.
Never let Singe cook 💀
It's a twin headed murkwolf
Bravo.
I heard somewhere that Jinx made Sevika's hand exactly like that because Sevika is into gambling (or was into gambling in season 1 and pre season 1) .
That actually makes sense
Guys you have to Look in the intro and pause at some points there are Hidden things
Viktor Christ has entetered chat.
When Jinx say "someone put holes in you" she doesnt mean literally
I mean...to be fair, she did put holes in him.
@mimic1984 she did tho im sure its not literal i also belive she was talking about. HIM putting holes on her ...
@MissterClown Gotcha
Have you guys watched the official music video for Enemy by Imagine dragons
It shows Jinx's childhood that's not included in the show

its just nitpiking and i didnt really notice when i watched the episode, but a jiny barly makes it out if the house with the enforces and directly has that fight with Sevika and Smeech. Kinda strange Vi/caitlyn and team didnt notice.

"The evil Heimerdinger"? What an insult to Heimerdinger! He's cute and cuddly 🤗while Smeech is gross and creepy😖
