1/24/22 marks 32 years since Eric Clapton gave what I consider the ultimate performance of "White Room", live from the Royal Albert Hall, 1/24/90. This specific version hits just 2 songs into Clapton's 24 Nights DVD and is just a force beyond compare. Here's my tribute. Enjoy & please share with a Clapton fan 🙂

Gear:
I am using a Fender American Deluxe Ash Stratocaster with a Clapton loaded pickguard (Vintage Noiseless Pickups, TBX, and 25db boost). I am plugged into a Line 6 Pod XT simulating a Soldano SLO 100, with slight chorus and a good amount of reverb coming from the Pod XT. I am using a Fulltone Clyde McCoy Wah. The signal is then being fed into a Laney Hardcore Max HCM30R amp. All sounds were recorded on my iPhone Xs into the Acapella App by MixCord (available at the App store for both iPhone and Android).
Many of you know that 24 Nights is my favorite live album ever. Recently I had the unbelievable opportunity to speak with mix engineer, Alex Haas about his work on 24 Nights.

Very nice work! I love your enthusiasm for the ‘Journeyman’/‘24 Nights’ era…John Mayer would approve and so do I! I have a 1989 Clapton model with Lace Sensors...it would be interesting to compare their sound to what one would get with the Noiseless pickups that are in the modern Clapton Strats. But I disgress…a job well done!
Thank you very much, Garbeaj! That era of Clapton is my favorite for sure. His focus, sound, arrangements, and band were just so great at that time. What color is your '89 Clapton..I'd love to play/get one in pewter. I used to have a Blackie w/ lace sensors which gets you closer to the 24 Nights sound for sure..there's a guy named Nicobuds on UA-cam who plays I shot the sheriff w/ lace sensors...and you can compare against my version with vintage noiseless..both are good IMO but lace for that 80's-90s works better
@@MichaelAlso Very cool...I'll have to check out his clip. My '89 is a "Blackie" model. But I don't have a screaming SLO-100 and 4x12 cabinet to play it through, just my Marshall Mod 5 2x12 with 90s reissue Greenbacks. A much different scenario...but I'm a huge fan of that whole era of tones, writing and playing, starting with the 'Eric Clapton & Friends' 1986 TV special. 'August" and that series of shows was the beginning of a very fruitful period indeed!
@@AllenGarberGuitarFun we are very similar my friend! The Eric Clapton and Friends 1986 was the reason I bought my Clapton strat in the first place. There's a video on my channel called "What makes Eric Clapton great (with special guests)" where me and a few others talk about pivotal Clapton dvd's and tones etc..I've also done breakdowns of 24 Nights and Cream Reunion with the 5150 Show..check it out I'm sure you'll be right at home!
