Vin and Sori React and Analyze Disturbed-Land Of Confusion!
The Genesis version of this song came out in 1986, 5 years before the end of the Cold War. I always thought it was about the fear of nuclear war, which seemed imminent at the time. 1986 also saw the explosion of the movement to save the planet and the environment, so I also used to see elements of that movement in the song. I think it is a very positive song with hope for the future of the planet and the human race. Keep rocking! 🤟😎🤟 ✌️
I think that Disturbed just needs to do covers of every song ever made so we can listen to David Dramain all day every day.
A best friend once told me “don’t just talk about it. Be about it”. The world as a whole has fallen short of being a great place and a lot of people talk about changing it but do nothing. So I think this song means just as you said, do something tangible. Be about it. Take action.
The reason I love Disturbed is that David really writes songs about what happens in his life and on subjects that other bands won't write about. Case in point Inside the Fire is about David's girlfriend committing suicide, and how the devil was trying to get him to follow suit to see her again.
This is a fantastic cover, and I'm glad you guys enjoyed it. If anyone here has never seen the music video, I totally suggest checking it out. Has this wonderful Todd McFarlane animation that was so popular in the late 90s and early 2000s. Check out the Genesis music video too, because that's just a really weird one. Really have to experience that first-hand.
I have had this on repeat for years..great solo work as well. They can make a cover their own thing..amazingly well
Disturbed - stricken absolute favorite song by them.
THAT song deserves to be "overrated", absolutely amazing.
I like the way the song packed you in the first 30 seconds. And in the end, you could not hold back yourself. Great video.
Metallicas "Dyers Eve" was written for Sori!!
Will you be doing more Disturbed? Sori deserves to witness their greatness!
Dorkward the Unicorn ya and some non-bubblegum stuff...Stupify is where all Disturbed should start
*alexfrank6534* True. Seems like people only react to the same songs by Disturbed. It's like people only realized Disturbed existed after they recorded Sound of Silence. Pity.
I'd prefer more Genesis
For the love of god.... no more DISTURBED. They need to hit up a few songs like SEX TYPE THING by the Stone Temple Pilots or the song ZERO by The Smashing Pumpkins. Both songs have nice guitar riffs.
@@henrythegreatamerican8136 hell no gtfo
Disturbed is actually a halfway newer band since the mid to late 90's. Their other cover is The Sound Of Silence, originally done by Simon and Garfunkel. That is such a badass song.
James Hartwell
They have quite a few covers.
ISHFWILF
Shout 2000
Midlife Crisis
There may be more, that's what I can remember.
I forgot about Shout. I never knew about Midlife Crisis or I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For. And I just found out they also did Fade To Black.
Thanks for having such a active channel, always something new. And 20k subs! Well done!
I hope you guys were watching the song's video. If not, then you missed 90% of the message.
Two Metal songs with a positive message:
1- Who Is Gonna Be The One - Jinjer.
2- Gojira - "Silvera" is another song with some powerful lyrics. "When you change yourself, you change the world" is a thing I started doing a long time ago, and whenever I can I try to "educate" someone else on how they can also change. : )
One of the better Genesis covers. Another great video! You should check out the video for the original version from Genesis. Unique and funny video.
Smiling I'm glad you both liked the song disturbed put alot of emotion in their music...20 years later this song is still relevant.... you guys are great loved how you all jammed and almost started to headbang at the end lol .... keeping it down to earth as always a pleasure to watch your reaction.... keep up the good work and remember one fist in the air one foot in the gutter
Yes! This is the energy and positivity I needed for today :D
You guys are the absolute best. I love watching your reactions and post song discussion. It is great to be able to witness 2 people genuinely reacting to music.... emotions and all. Keep rocking!
This is a GENESIS cover btw. From the early 80s.
I DEFINITELY recommend seeing the actual animated music video for this song.
I just find your channel and almost instantly subscribed. Good music and good conversations. And Sori I cried with you on that Sound of Silence-cover. Dunno why but it is a beautiful song. Keep up doing the good stuff!
Thank you !
Hi there - I haven't watched your reaction yet, but the song is over, so I wanted to point out ...
I loved the song by Genesis, which had an awesome video, too. I also love the cover version by disturbed, which is much more powerful (and has a great video to it as well.). I just wanted to point out that the disturbed line "in the wake of this madness" refers to the original line "And the sound of your laughter" in the original song. This is pretty much all they changed on the lyrical side.
Now, the original song's been released some time ago - I won't google it, but I believe it's been during the Reagan area. The cold war was "raging", we were hearing about some laser stations in the sky and stuff like that ... so this one line did remember me of "easier" times, when it was more easy to ... just laugh from the heart.
Disturbed - to me - seem to be referring to the rise of right winged nationalism, so the change to "in the rise of this madness" is more fitting to the new context. But this one line also makes a difference - that's why I wanted to point that out.
Good point !
Out of all the Disturbed songs, you chose a cover they did 😂 I’m not mad tho. You should guys should do Inside the Fire or The Game. Everyone has listened to Down with the Sickness so I didn’t suggest that one lol
Camryn Garrett I don’t like disturbed but “Inside the fire” is so damn catchy
But this cover is one of their best songs lol
Consolous um no lol
Yeah, Inside The Fire is ridiculously hook-laden. Massive earworm.
Camryn Garrett
Um yes
Congrats for the Sori shirts!
You two are so much fun!
I like your video reactions, you have a very positive attitude that I love. I have been able to enjoy this song in its original version when I was much younger, I have also enjoyed and I still enjoy metal music in all its variants. That's why I'm happy to see people with an open attitude and willing to listen carefully without prejudice. You have earned another subscriber, greetings from Spain
You guys absolutely have to check out Disturbed’s cover of “the sound of silence”. It’s an amazing cover I guarantee you guys will love. 😊👍
Nice t - shirts
Poets of the Fall - Carnival of Rust, Choice Millionaire and Drama for Life
Machine Head - A Farewell to Arms, Descend the Shades of Night and Imperium
Linkin Park - Given Up
i love songs with a message like this , but it's sad that nothing seems to change
I find it absolutely Heartbreaking that So Many songs from back in the day...are Even More RELEVANT Today!!!
Check out the video for Land of Confusion by Genesis. The put out this hit in the 80's and the video is very unique. Love this song!
That original video is fun & quirky.....so 1980s, LOL
Love this you guys are awesome.
Great song, you should listen to the original version by Genesis, Phil Collins wrote and sang the vocals
They say "Genesis" as if they had never heard that name...
I give credit to DISTURBED for their Sound of Silence remake. The instrumentals in the remake were great. But this Land of Confusion remake is dreadful..... makes me want to punch everyone in the face who says it's good.
I love both the original by Genesis and the cover by Disturbed.
@@henrythegreatamerican8136 You're delusional, this is awesome!
Mike rutherford wrote that song
Yesssss!! More Disturbed reactions please. 🙂
Love the shirts!
Coming soon!
Vin = Vehicle identification number. You are welcome!
Solved!!
Fact.
Yessss,it's about time you did a disturbed song, please do more.I love this song but it's not near to being my favorite. Been watching for about a month but haven't subscribed.I've been on the fence i guess.Well rock on y'all peace.
Sori: Vincent is derived from the Latin name Vincentius meaning "conquering" (from Latin "vincere" - "to conquer"). The French brought the name to the English and the Irish. The Gaelic forms of Vincent are “Uinseann” and “Uinsionn.” This name was popular among early Christians, and it was borne by many saints.
To be fair, it's easy to look back on the 80's as a golden time if you grew up then (as I did as well). But let's not forget that back then we were kids. We were free of cares because our parents took that off our backs. Every generation looks back with dewy eyes at the era of their carefree childhood. But talk to enough people that were struggling adults at the time and you'll get a more honest story.
The 80s were more carefree because we were kids and didn't have the awareness or better said the weight of really knowing what is going on in the world. But in hindsight there always was this feeling of an eerie background noise you wouldn't notice at first glance but would be obvious once you paid a bit of attention.
I grew up in Germany and in the 80s I (as anyone else) was aware that the area I lived in would be one of the first to get hit by the bombs should the cold war escalate. My dad was struggling to get out of obligatory military service in a possible escalating war. My grandfather wrote a letter to me where he talked about his five years as a POW in Siberia and how important it is to never have war again. The american fighter jets regularly flew over our heads in their exercises. WW II and the cold war was always in the back of our heads in school, in discussons of our parents, how teachers behaved and what they talked about in classes. Everyone knew movies like "The Day After" from an age that would seem inappropriate now. Peace demonstrations whole schools participated in. With that getting a very early political awareness built around the constant underlying threat that any moment nuclear bombs could drop because some very fallible men fuck up. Evening news were an obvious choice every day.
All this was the way of live, not something you would be hyper aware of. You had a normal everyday live and I had a really happy childhood, but sometimes you got glimpses of the sinister undertones of how things were handled and how the grown ups must feel.
My parents never really shielded me from all this, they must have thought the best preparation would be to get an awareness and get my own opinion. I did and I feel that the Genesis song is more relevant than ever since the 80s.
Phil Roberts spot on my brother.
@@TheOligoclonalBand Nailed it! 80's kids were also the first generation of youth as a consumer base due to the the economic growth post WW2 of our baby boomer parents generation. The beginning of complete consumerism.
i love this song , thanks a lot Vin and Sori
Another good Disturbed cover song. It does have a very positive message, but the credit for that goes to Genesis's lead guitarist Mike Rutherford who wrote the lyrics. It was a hugely successful video on MTV and was played on very heavy rotation, It won a Grammy award for Genesis in 1986. The video is pretty weird, but very fun. They used caricature puppets from the British TV show "Splitting Image". In addition to the band themselves, puppet caricatures included Ronald & Nancy Reagan, Benito Mussolini, Ayatollah Khomeini, Mikhail Gorbachev, Muammar Gaddafi, Johnny Carson, Richard Nixon, Leonard Nimoy, Bob Hope, Pete Townshend, David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger, Tina Turner, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Bill Cosby, Queen Elizabeth, Hulk Hogan, and Pope John Paul II.
The other cover Disturbed did recently is The Sound of Silence originally by Simon and Garfunkel. An amazing cover!
More disturbed to check out, Down With the Sickness! Their first single (that I am aware of) and it is very much archetypal Disturbed!
Those songs definitely show the two extremes of Disturbed.
This was an awesome reaction to an awesome cover of the awesome song from an awesome band🖤
So glad you both liked this. Please do some of their originals. Another really positive song is The Light but you need to view the official video....it's powerful
Love it. Great reaction!
Yes! David had one of the greatest voices in music. Love you guys for reacting to this lol ❤️🤘🏼
one of the best voices out there guys!
MORE OF THIS PLEASE :D
Nevermind do Voices thats the true Disturbed sound. You will love it
Great video as allways. some suggestions
Travelling Alone-Woods of Ypres
I love ( to hurt ) you- Lifelover
Cowards Deathbed-Signs of the Swarm
The noose - A perfect circle
Hell Yeah I want one of those shirts! "Maybe you're sick because of your secrets" is awesome! You should be writing lyrics for metal bands.
I have sir🤫
Reign of darkness- Thy art is murder (music video)
Land of snow and sorrow- Wintersun
Carbon phrases- Alkaloid
Crushed- Parkway Drive
I'm gonna spam this on every video
The animated music video for this is really awesome, you get the see their mascot the guy leading us to rise up.
Wow 20k subs, awesome achievement in such a short time, plenty more to join yet too i bet especially if you react to Megadeth-Looking Down The Cross and or Good Mourning/Black Friday 🤘
Crazy right??!! On the list !!
Yes yes!!! Great song choice you 2💯🤟
Ok you two are just adorable when you're rocking out
I loved the Music from the 90s. Ever since discovering grunge, punk, and metal. I was hooked ever since. Especially as an African American who just listened to hip hop, finding rock n roll totally changed my life. I started to think for myself and finding people like you guys makes more special. Please react to Candiria - The Whole World Will Burn. You guys rock!!!
👏👏😁 really good song!! You two rock!!
Helloween - Keeper of the seven keys! Im going to ask for it until you do it 😁
Keeper era Helloween should be done sooner or later, given how defining those two albums were for an entire genre. Not so sure whether they'd be up Vin and Sori's alley, but they certainly are a crucial part of Metal history, given that they pretty much set the stage for European Power Metal!
I'd personally love to see a reaction to the full 13 minute version of *Helloween* - *Halloween* ON HALLOWEEN :)
Alternatively *I'm Alive* or *I want out* would also be good songs to start with.
Epic song but it's a hard one to start with
Any Helloween whith Kiske singing would be great
Taking me back to jr. high and shit! You better see my jamz I think? /w\METAL/w\
Parkway drive - Dark Days is a good one to try, also awesome vid guys!! \m/
Hey you two are gold it wont long for youtube to notice
Disturbed has done 2 of my favorite covers, this one and Sound of Silence.
I LOVE that you only read the lyrics and let the MUSIC paint the pictures in your heads.
It's a nice break from watching people be influenced by a video, and not solely the audio, for a response. Like they say, "Viceo killed the radio star." and it has!
Your opinion of a song shouldn't be based on what some director, or Hollyweird executive thinks their vision of the song should be.
Very refreshing. 100% like.
No better feeling than seeing people jam out, been viewing for a bit but this was great
Great reaction. Disturbed was is one of thoses bands you cant deny they are here to stay
Love how sori smiles each time David roars. Listen to down with the sickness if you like that growl
The other song they covered is “the sound of silence”
Dirk Diggler they have a handful of very well done covers. "The Sound of Silence" is just so well done it draws DEEP emotions in Many people. DISTURBED's "Into the Light" is faith. based.
they covered U2 (nice), Tears for Fears (superb), Metallica (nice), Judas Priest (v. nice), Faith No More (v. nice)
Officially yes, they also have done many others live..like Fade to Black
A truly capable and confident band is not afraid to do covers. The reason many bands do not do covers is because they're not very good musicians.
They cover a song on just about every album
“Say Hello 2 Heaven” by Temple of The Dog. Written for Andy Wood by Chris Cornell. Absolutely beautiful song. Can’t go wrong...
Lol the shade over your merch 🤣🤣🤣
*Volumes- Edge of the Earth*
*Veil of Maya- Leeloo*
*Reflections- Actias Luna*
*After The Burial- Laurentian Ghosts*
Happy Saturday!
I think Vin's realization of the dichotomy between escapism and "returning to the Garden" is pretty interesting. It reminds me of the conflict between linear and cosmic understandings of time (working towards an end or working towards the beginning). Do you work to escape, or do you work to make your situation better? Both require effort, but escapism is perniciously selfish. I think many buy into an eschatology of escapism, so they ultimately care less about others than they're willing to admit.

Mutiny Within - Internal Dissension
Pretty melodic stuff and I love the solo.
Sound of Silence cover by Disturbed
Positive message!
A great reaction of a good song guys. Some credit/mention has to go to Genesis who released the song back in 1986. The song was in their Invisable Touch album.
I'm surprised you guys have not heard this covers song by Disturbed, Considering Disturbed are a pretty big name. One of my All time favorite bands growing up.
Disturbed is a Wicked Awesome choice and they are for the people and spreading good vibes and lot's of love! Much
oh nooo, u should have had the official music vid for this. It's EPIC. IMO Disturbed gave this a huge UPGRADE, w GRIT & EDGE.
If you ever have spare time, make time to watch the animated video. THnx.
Stay SAFE, HEALTHY & HAPPY
Genesis live at Wembley1986/7 performing this is the one you should listen to - Decent job by Disturbed but it doesn't come close, although, I am slightly biased because I was at Wembley back in the 80's watching Genesis perform it.
Disturbed in my mind has always done a good job with their covers
Sound of silence and the Light are their best songs to me
"Shout 2000" was their first cover, this their second and "Sound of Silence" their third..
I agree with the previous post suggesting the original from Genesis is stronger. Crazy to say that without a reaction channel like this, most of us would never compare a band like Genesis with Disturbed! Great reaction.
Because it's been mentioned in the video, here are some positive metal songs worth checking out.
Lykathea Aflame - Flowering Entities
Dragonforce - My Spirit Will Go On
Death - Perennial Quest
Atheist - I Deny
Angel Dust - Forever
and for one that is kinda debatable though I find it kinda empowering on some level
Nevermore - I, Voyager
Come on man, there is a fuckton of positive motivational songs that just fire you up, all that doom and gloom idea seams like a vanilla excuse, to be fair...
But I did suggest positive songs? There is nothing doom and gloom about any of those songs. The only one that could be argued against is I, Voyager which is about a man pursuing knowledge as a goal.
Strange thought though. A lot of Diablo Swing Orchestra's songs are intentionally open ended and vague so that they could be read into multiple ways. A lot of the time they can be either positive or negative depending on how you interpret the lyrics.
Superhero Jagganath is either a weirdly morbid origin story for a superhero or a maniac justifying his actions.
Of Kali Ma Calibre is either about finding piece or not finding piece with the things you've either created or destroyed.
Vodka Inferno is either about a love so strong anything can be conquered through it, or it's about alcohol addiction.
Knucklehugs is either about victory through spreading love or it's about unarmed people being invaded.
Ode To The Innocent is either about innocence as a virtue or it's about feeling shame for not knowing something
I find most power metal songs very positive
That is the very point dude, what might seem as a proper grimdark shit to an outsider, ends up being the very oposite, once you get in to the flow, don't you think?
Hell fucking yea, rock on Disturbed!
Disturbed did an amazing job of covering "The Sound Of Silence", I would love to see you react to that one too
just ignore my dumb ass... I just saw you already did that one. my bad
VinAnd Sori this is an amazing song. You really ought to check out their animated music video for this song. Really puts the song in context. Keep up the great reactions.
You guys should check out more Disturbed. They are awesome and a new album is on the way too. I would suggest checking out the official music videos for "The Animal", "Asylum", "The Vengeful One", and "The Sound of Silence". "The Sound of Silence" is another cover that Disturbed did, and it's their best cover (and possibly their most popular song) to date. The original was made by Simon and Garfunkel.
they also did Shout by tears for fears
I'd really like to see you react to both Genesis's original video for this song and Disturbed one as well, they both give another dimension to the song :)
It IS a good message - it was said 30 years ago and now through covers. Same thing with Sounds of Silence - great messages that have gone unheeded (by most, not you) for decades.
judas priest halls of vallhalla.
halford and babymetal. that feeling when a 68 year old screams higher than a teenage chineese girl
MR_BEETROOT Japanese
Sorry
MR_BEETROOT still a funny comment tho 👍💀
:) tnx
more Disturbed please guys!
Inside the Fire has always been my favorite Disturbed song. You should check it out!
I would love to see Sori's reaction to "American Head Charge - To be me"... pleeeeease make it so! love you both!
This is how i think, you are here on Earth, u obviously have a purpose to live, let's do everything we can to make this place, let's be the best people we can be and if it is really hard sooner or later you will die you will get rest, but while you are here make it big!
because you two enjoyed this song so much, I want to recommend: "Pain - We Want More"
Faith No More- The Real Thing!!
Jacob Frederick. I'm down with this suggestion.
thats a great idea, the whole album rocks!
Yep...some FNM is definitely a great suggestion!
You guys are awesome, I love this channel, I watch a lot of reaction channels but I feel that this one is of another calibre and it definitely stands out in the best way.
I have such a great time watching.
Would you guys possibly react to Porcupine Tree's Steven Wilson solo work.
Songs:
. Routine
. The Raven That Refused to Sing
. Drive Home
Are three excellent very powerful ones.
I love you guys
